JW, awesome video with great information. In my day i leaened most of my techniques from Bassmaster and other magazines. I wish i had youtube. Only you can catch a bass with one cast, live, demonstrating cadence and reel speed for a crank. Maybe it was the pre-cast teaser of how to load the cast that fired up the bass😂
Smart Move with the new Series rods. I switched to a 7'2" graphite rod as well for the chatterbaits. More sensitivity, lighter, better hook sets. Found the Composites to be a little to soft for me and they are not as sensitive as graphite. I'll definitely pick one of your designs up and give em' a try.
I don't understand what I'm doing wrong with the Freeloader. 🤷♂️ I have panoptix and I've thrown them at spotted bass on Lanier for months now and just watching them either run from it or ignore it. I think I've caught one dink off a Freeloader. WHAT'S THE DEAL!??? And when do you decide to switch from the Freeloader to a regular swimbait???
Loved this Jacob, thank you. I'll be going out many times this month, I'll let you know what worked here (I'm in Mexico now, waters will be going up, waiting for rain and vegetation to come back). By the way, I always appreciate when you specify the line or lines you are using, I'm still unsure at times.
You did a great job when you were due to you saw prostate beats very very been looking for some I've been looking for a summer view of beats now I have your fancy crowded and you did a nice detail when you were built it
Yes I know who that is Brooke Perry I know who you are talking about I do the same thing details you are telling me and thank you very much for your mentioning that name
My dad was a student of buck Perry. He would travel and take his classes. His book was the first fishing book I read as a kid. My dad burnt "deep water is the home of the fish" in my brain lol
I am so happy June is already here you don't know how sighting I am now it's here cuz I really would love to get myself a nice looking bass and I just want to let you know that I got your new Bates I got your letter fancy crawdad
Going to,try the drop shot and the Mayor is my favorite swim bait by far! Caught a lot of fish this year on it. Thanks great video! See y’all at Chowan !
Thanks Jacob, Just moved out to Bull Shoals Lake (retired here) and I'm finding out that it fishes almost the same as my "home" lake in N. Calif. (Lake Oroville), down to the clear water. Your tips, I'm finding a very valuable in learning this area. I've been writing your suggestions down, rigging my rods up, and fishing the ways you're explaining with good succuss. Give me another year and I'll start fishing tournaments again! Just the small/local stuff. Thanks again!!
Good video! Would like to see you do one of these videos using Lake Dardanelle as the model. It's a highland reservoir but fishes more like a lowland. Riverrun, muddy water, clear water, grass, and rocks offers up a little bit of everything.
Daiwa and Shimano make up 99% of my reels. The zillion, steez a, bantam and metanium are my favs. With the recent price hike on the Steez, I feel the Zillion is the best value in Daiwa's lineup. The core solid metaniums are hard to beat as well. Can't go wrong with any of them. In general I don't have one I like more than the rest, they're all good and some better for specific things. Edit: I've got 2 different model Bates that are nice as well but I can't speak to durability yet. Seems like they will be though. If I was going to go outside of those, I would just order some Doyo stuff. No point in paying for the name of Lew's or Abu when they're both made by Doyo. Also, given the acquire, with you being with Rapala seems like 13 would be sensible. Also the Picasso straight shooter, with the updated snagless sally style wire weedguards, is the best readily available swim jig I've found. Especially in wood, that guard keeps it from hanging up if it rolls when brought over wood. Good luck on Chowan! On the loop knot, double the line then tie it.
The blt ned is revolutionary in my opinion, it’s a lot like the dropshot in where you can fish it . And I fish middle Tennessee, old hickory very pressured lakes and a light weight a loop knot and a green pumpkin blue fleck Ned blt you can fish right Beside someone that’s throwing a normal Texas rig/jig and flat out catch them . And not just small ones I’ve caught multiple over 4-5 this year . Absolutely love them
I know who buck perry was ! He invented the lure ( called a spoon plug ) I have the book describing how to troll that lure !!!!! Way to go Jacob tell us about it Bro..!!!
Sorry Jacob. I've tried alot of jig heads. Your vmc recommendation is top notch. I've never used a swimbait and caught more fish then I have with the hybrid Swim head. Definitely #1 by far.
All of my bait casters are Shimanos. Love them. Threw a light drop shot this afternoon on my Curado BFS rig. Snagged and broke off four whole drop shot rigs. Got bluegill taps and missed a small bass, but didn’t catch anything on the drop shot. Caught one small bass on a small jig head with a swim bait. Still more fun than my couch! 😁 I need to Texas rig my drop shot set up next time. I was nose hooking a Roboworm with a circle hook today. Also still figuring out my tag end length for drop shot. I fish shallow farm ponds from the bank.
Great video and I caught a 8 and 1/2 ponder carolina rigging a ned blt on a point offshore which was the biggest bass I have caught on that lake uh deadly because it floats!
Buck perry would crush it with the control of those dt crankbaits. Otherwise he'd be trolling those channel swings. Just read that book this week at age 35. Hope his knowledge doesn't disappear. Thanks Jacob for your videos!
Bro I passed you this morning in NC headed eastbound!!! Guessing you're headed toward Raleigh maybe?? Not sure what your next stop is but good luck man!!
I really enjoy watching your videos. Your enthusiasm towards fishing is infectious, I can wait to get on the water. Thank you for sharing your experience and knowledge.
Hey Jacob i mainly use shimano reels but i do have a Bass Pro Shops Johnny Morris Tech reel and i love it, i use it paired with a duckett ghost med heavy and it’s my go-to chatter bait rod
Fish will bite anything when they are hungry does not have to be a certain bait.Bring your rubber bait to NC river next weekend Good luck brother at the Chowan River.
