Living the life in Queensland Australia, complete with 4x4 trips into the outback.
Bought a project vehicle and documenting the rebuild and trips. It's a 1991 GQ Nissan Patrol with the TD42 engine. Was factory non-turbo, but now has an aftermarket turbo installed. Lots to do on it, including a full paint job and some engine work.
Not sure if you had this issue with yours but with mine, I've had to cut the lower part of the flange on cyl 1 for it to fit properly. tried to fit it yesterday only to find it catching on a part of the block thats poking out (has the engine number on it). I had a better look at the old manifold and the same cut had been done on that one too
Those images what are backward do my head in, make sure your camera is not taking the mirror image, as then, my brain has to undo that mess while watching.
Thanks for the series, really enjoying it. I see you did the same thing i did at 2:04 and got the manifold gaskets on the 5th and 6th cylinder misaligned as the studs change pattern but the exhaust outlet holes stay the same. I'm not sure it makes any real difference but my OCD made me pull it back of and flip them around until the gaskets didn't interfere with the exhaust airflow. Thanks again for the vids, it helps me stay motivated 🙂
Good day everyone, I repaired my front diff And when I finished, I saw that I forgot to put it on brass washer. Can I turn on the front wheel drive? And what is the function of brass washer? Thanks
Hey mate, big fan here, im doing a 4.2 conversion into my s4 wagz, blacktop, im going the ufi 270hp 12mm pump and ufi turbo to suit, aiming for around 200hp, is it possible to keep my axillary battery if i have a high mount manifold turbo setup
Thank you for your video I have a problem with the shaft when I put it on it place it not be placed in the centre , it rubs with knuckle spindle. Is there any problem.
Also on the pulley there are 2 marks. The second one is supposedly for the fuel pump timing? Are you using the TDC one because the fuel pump guy basically set it to time off there instead of the fuel pump timing mark? Cheers
He only got the gu bearing locking nuts. Not gu hubs. My 1996 cake standard with those hearing locking nuts. I purchase the socket to undo them, from online auto parts and I said mine has pinholes and guy said no this is the one. Well I had to go back and get the right one. in my manual it states it come with those locking nuts
Awesome video mate thanks heaps, keep it up. Quick question I understand how timing it on the gears has an effect, but how does changing the angle of the pump change the timing with the dial guage?
Hey mate did u have any trouble with putting the slave on the gearbox i just finished that process put my box together and for some reason my slave isnt lining up with the bolts
Thanks a lot for the video. Its 2 AM here, I jst reached home after puncturing two alloy rims of Nissan Patrol GQ, what happened is, while I was turning, suddenly my patrol started some strange noises, and it stoped moving, when I tried to drive, my right front tyre punctured, i got off and checked, the alloy rim was PUNCTURED from the inside where the disc hub is located, I though kay be some big screw stuck between disc hub and alloy rim, I changed it, and again it punctured my another alloy rim, now I just parked Patrol there and came home. I thought it might be broken bearing, because of which wheel is losen and when I tried to drive, disc hub punctured alloy rim, whats your opinion about it, is it ball bearing or may be CV?? I ak worried because its extremely hard to find Nissan Patrol GQ parts in Pakistan, because I love my patrol a lot. I dont know what to do.
Hi Daniel, Sorry you have had that happen. its hard to help without seeing the issue, perhaps inspect the rim - is the puncture a single hole? (if so look for something that is being driven through the rim) or did something create a grove all the way around the rim? (this would be something that has moved out of place.) Perhaps some others on here have seen this before? PS -- Cool to hear that Old GQ's are loved up in Pakistan too!
Great video. What about if the pump i am fitting does not come with an indication of how many mm to adjust it to? I have taken it off from a second hand engine aligning only the "z's" and the top dead center mark...
Hi Mate, the engine is stamped, you will find it on the top of the block just above the bracket the holds the alternator, it will have either TB (Petrol) or TD (Diesel) in the Code
hi jimmy hope your well and thanks for the video I am half way installing 11mm pump and when I try to aline the gear on ZwithZZ by moving the front of the pump shaft but put dont seems to move
