Colossal is a breakthrough bioscience and genetic engineering company that builds radical new technologies to advance the field of genomics. Colossal Biosciences creates disruptive technologies for extinct species restoration, critically endangered species protection and the repopulation of critical ecosystems that support the continuation of life on Earth. The company is the first to apply CRISPR technology for the purposes of species de-extinction, beginning with the woolly mammoth. Colossal is accepting humanity’s duty to restore Earth to a healthier state, while also solving for the future economies and biological necessities of the human condition through cutting-edge science and technologies.
I really don’t care we have infinite genders and people who are confused what gender they really are maybe it’s for the best. Know what Ima buy a diesel truck to help the process along.
One, sad, lonely, hybrid, novelty freak animal. NOT A THYLACINE. And not "de-extinction". Just a waste of money that could be used to protect living animals.
Our de-extinct species will be released in small herds, not individually, so they can develop and repopulate properly. We also provide our genetic technology and funding to ongoing conservation efforts around the world, like with the Northern White Rhino in partnership with BioRescue.
We need this bio technology implemented into the pacific nw spring salmon and steelhead fisheries specifically into our hatchery and broodstock programs
Please someone look into this. The spring king salmon has a specific gene different from the fall kings. I think it’ll benefit the declining population of salmon/steelhead here in the PNW which is desperately needed. Cause whatever the status quo now, isn’t working.
This is absolutely incredible, to see you guys working with the Tassie tiger is so exciting for us in Australia. Amazing stuff, maybe one day we will see megalania 🦖
Yeah sorry mate, we dont have any DNA for that species including mostly all megafauna, wish we did. Due to the fact that Australia's climate essentially dried up from the last ice age.
Have to say as an Australian, this is very underwhelming Colossal. Where is the trials for a successful embryo via SCNT for the Dunnart to the Thylacine? I just dont see better evidence or have heard of any trialled evidence for cloning similar to how Dolly was cloned. I understand that Thylacine DNA is understandably not entirely collected and sequenced to that of a sheep with a live un-extinguished genome, however it can be reconstructed. Much like the Mammoth. But really? Is this company turning into an investors money pit?
We are working diligently on our progress for the Thylacine, our most recent breakthrough being prototyping an ex-utero development for marsupial gestation. These steps have to be completed safely and with caution to ensure its success.
So when they produce a thylacine that has cost millions of dollars what will they do with it?,put it back in a Zoo!!,isnt the point to undo what our forefathers did..do you really think tbey will let it go,NO!!..what a waste of money and time when there is 1000's of sightings in Tassie and on the mainland from settlement to recent times, maybe spend some money on the sightings and protect these areas.
The species we bring back will be very closely monitored in partnership with local authorities and conservation groups. Our species will be released in small herds that can reproduce into larger populations, but the conservation efforts around them will remain for a long time. All of our genetic advancements and a good portion of our resources are also applied to current conservation efforts across the globe.
@@itiscolossal like you said the "species" you bring back, will it be 100% thylacine (thylacinus cynocephalus?)or not?..you already have thylacines alive with 1000's of eye witness accounts but for some reason all these sightings get swept under the rug in the animal world yet eye witness accounts hold up in a court of law?
Our de-extinct species will be genetic hybrids because 100% replication is not possible without a live specimen. If they are still living in small populations and are found, then it will make repopulating them for the better of their environment even easier.
Jurassic Park + Prehistoric Park = Pleistocene Park…it’s finally happening responsibly🥹The Sci-fi dream of thousands of people across the world are almost real, let’s not F_ck it up🫶
You should really change your qualifications to amateur biologist since you don't make a living as a professional biologist you make your living as a TV and RU-vid media host lol Especially since you've never actually the second is the genetic engineering work does a professional biologist you just have a degree in biology
We are working with conservation groups and local authorities to ensure the safety of species that we rewild and to prepare the native environments for their return.
@@itiscolossal I guess I'm thinking about it on a longer timeline. Someday, either people will stop caring about conservation (in this case reversion) or human society as a whole will collapse and whatever dog-like creature happens to be around will wipe the thylacenes out in no time. I do wish you success though. It would be cool to see these animals walk around again at some point.
no we did not lead to the extinction of the mammoth, this has been disproven so many damn times, secondly I don't think I want to be asking for the appraisal of ethnic groups who's proudest accomplishment is huffing gas.....
Homo Naledi and Homo Floresiensis are my top hominids I want de-extinct. Proving they could talk and reason would upend every cognitive study on human evolution and capabilities.
Please consider also bringing back the extinct species of the hawaiian islands, like The Kauaii O'O bird. Small, manageable ecosystems, a positive population and possible support by US Government. Could be a good testing environment and bring back a unique ecosystem destroyed primarily in the last 200 years.
How will they learn how to hunt and survive and everything? Idk the species too well but i know for many animals, especially predators, the young tend to have to learn these things from their parents
