Featured Session: A Colossal Mission: A Case for De-Extinction
New technological advancements make de-extinction possible - but should we do it? What if the rewilding of critical extinct species, as proxies to their original habitats, could help restore lost ecosystems and combat the effects of climate change? At Colossal, a team of world-renowned genetic scientists are using breakthrough advances in CRISPR technology to pioneer a practical and working model of animal de-extinction, beginning with the restoration of the Woolly Mammoth to the Arctic Tundra. Watch the featured session moderated by Richard Garriott with Colossal CEO Ben Lamm and Head of Biological Sciences Eriona Hysolli for a deep-dive look into the science and opportunities behind species restoration and a groundbreaking new approach to conservation.

It's hard to wrap my head around. Would be very cool if this actually worked. I can imagine that this work would be more significant than landing on the Moon (at least until we fully understand the human brain). To end on that: *_I was here 2022_*

I feel like the live crisper mammoths will maybe need to be taught how to migrate according to seasons when they are in the park. Only 16 sq miles? Hummm

How did these frozen mammoth get trapped and frozen in the attic muck without rotting and destroying their DNA?
@vonderloo3184
@vonderloo3184 Год назад
Prolly a flash freeze when poles shifted.
@downeastprimitiveskills7688
@@vonderloo3184 I hear all that melt water was just about freezing as it came off the glacial sheet, as so mixing with the mud and other junk everything was already now very chilly and as the mammoths got broken up and washed into mud flow eddies, just as quick as it warmed it then froze returning to the state of the ice age where everything re froze and quickly. I think the bigger question is what cause the extreme warming?
@vonderloo3184
@vonderloo3184 Год назад
@@downeastprimitiveskills7688 what? There would have been 2 mile high wall of water that moved along with 200 mph winds. When the poles shift.
@downeastprimitiveskills7688
@@vonderloo3184 Thats what they say, and the mud and debris to go along with it.
