In this episode Georgia talks about progressing your recall, in this episode it’s learning to teach the dog to come away from things they want. #gundog #gundogtraining #dogtraining #dogs #recalltraining #gundogtrainer
Lovely demonstration of how it’s done. I am keen to start this next step of recall with my high drive, head strong cocker. She’s just turned 2 and has been very hard work for me, but I will use your videos as something to aim at ! Thanks
Morning Georgie ,, as ever fantastic videos and explanations, my pups 5 months old I’ve been to a couple of classes in a group first one she was excellent second one she wouldn’t come back straight away with her little retrieve she was more interested in the other dogs, the field they use is not very sterile either lots of interesting smells, in the garden and other places I use for training at home she is superb, I follow all your videos, is she too young for this yet? the gun dog club says she is at correct age, but I do not want my hard work at home ruining she sits lovely while the other dogs are on their retrieves watches with intent. She is also great at tennis ball work straight back to me but when I introduce puppy dummy she doesn’t come straight in with a hit there’s some gambling about, any advice would be much appreciated
Morning Rob, Thank you !! ☺️ she is very young and at the time, the presence of the other dogs maybe a little much for her in that moment and environment. I would work on building value in the puppy dummy I would probably only throw it once if she comes straight back huge fuss then I would put it away and have play with her. So that when she does see it she will fly out to it. I would also look at working in channels so she can’t stay off while I’m building in the pattern go out come back. Also don’t make it too long of retrieve yet short a sharp. I will be doing a introduction to retrieving soon. If your in group as she once spot on don’t worry about saying that’s a win for us I want to stop there. Hope that helps let me know how you get on. 🐾☺️
