yay im so glad my favorite pvp rev youtuber made a vid of the shortbow! i have to confess that i am an action camera shortbow enjoyer though. in my defense i dont have a choice because i play on a controller xD. i still got into plat this season but its prob my build thats carrying me, because i have to admit my mechanics arent as good as yours.
@@homage3 thanks! personally i think shortbow is easier to play as condi because rune of the lynx gives 25% movespeed, opening up a lot of variations in relic (no need for wayfinder) and traits. having movespeed attached to the rune is such a buff
Often times when I make guide videos I'm reluctant to put a build in them. This is because builds come and go with balance changes and I want my guides to be relevant for as long as possible. That being said, this is the shortbow herald build I had the most success with while filming and the one used in this video: gw2skills.net/editor/?PmgAUFlpQMMLyjdRdMMijJSksCigpsVfbF-DaIPkMlC9KCSYBo2TAAA
Thank you! For WVW I'd probably use Invocation and Salvation trait lines, and a mix of marauder and berserker gear. I'm really not much of a WVW guy though so I can't give any super specific advice.
this isnt the video for this, but thank you a lot for all the info you give about reve i commented some time ago saying that i was shit at reve, thankfully wvw helped me a ton understanding the class as a hole and now im destroying pvp with vindi
@@lapusso3704 Awesome, glad to hear about your improvement! Power Rev is super hard to pick up for the first time but is so incredibly satisfying once you get the hang of it
Another thing to mention is that if you have nothing targeted when using Shortbow 5 and then target someone during its channel, you don't have to face the target in order to land it. Makes it very good for disengaging or about face spamming but adds to the micro managing.
@@2pacMemories Yes! It's definitely a love it or hate it weapon. Not my cup of tea! But I thought I'd explain why in depth for all those who asked Glad to hear you've found success with Vindi though!
@@wuwuzelaaaa Very great point. I definitely could have mentioned that. You can also use no port spots to have an advantage against them. But eventually one will catch you out of position and it'll hurt real bad lol
@@homage3 Nah man, i keep my reve as an alt for ocasional play and thanks to some of your videos i got good enough where i can make my builds, have fun and dont get always destroyed!🙌
Shortbow would be a perfect weapon if it had little bit more defense. There is a way they could do it, while same time giving more condi cover. Shortbow skill 4: Add also blind condi/pulse 😮💨
@@drios8809 Agreed. If it had more defensive skills it would be kinda OP. Although it's imperfect, I like where it's at as a high risk high reward weapon
10:52 how do you about to face without removing the target from the thief? when im about to face i need to lmb on screen , and to move it back i gotta rmb, am i doing wrong?
@@nautilaz I play a bunch of classes, but Rev is by far my favourite. I'm unsure of anyone currently doing Ele commentary on RU-vid. I know Grimjack streams on twitch and often time talks thru his gameplay and rotations as he's playing. Not enough people are uploading this style of video IMO!
Came here to hate cause all my homies hate hammer vindi, but this was too well done and very informative. Instead you can hold this sub and I'll use this to get better at countering hammer vindis
Lol, willbender op build showcase number 542 😂 Play it without the instant 1200 port + burning skill and the spike potential is gone. In wvw they play it with the renewal focus elite skill and the all boons shout skill. It's one of the 3 big unbalanced build anet hadn't fixed in the last months. No talent needed.
If you use Wurm relic, you only lose 1k HP but gain some FER stats so you hit harder. Assuming you're using the vitality trait in the WB line which only requires a small DMG drop from your virtues, allow you to hold 15k, 236% fer (Just shy of your max) as well. I've also grown fond of Sigil of Courage paired with Sigil of Enchancement on the weapons, if you're hitting several people, you can easily stack 25 Might on yahself in fights while also sharing some with allies as well through those virtues and traits. Thus again, making you hit harder, which in turn pushes more healing thru Zeikros. WB is easy to play, but don't get it twisted. It requires some knowledge about positioning and moving the hell out of DMG n stuff since you do your best, most potent dmg when you're right in people's face, or in the middle of a big group of peeps. Also, more people should use Feel my Wrath, its fucking BRUTAL on WB. RF is a great defensive for sure and I get why its loved, but feel my wrath makes you a DEADLY threat in a fight. To the point teams almost HAVE to focus you or you will just shred through everyone unless they have a good healer or something around. WB is also a NOOB STOMPER and a half. Noob will fall like flies to you, they don't know how to move yet. lol I dont agree with giving up the 10% Strike DMG on virtues for the cleanse, but I get why people take it. But, it is a dmg loss for sure since you use your virtues fairly regularly on WB, personally, I play without the lil bit of cleanse since our main heal skill we use for most WB builds does auto cleanse low threat condis pretty well. Just dont get hit by condi bombs, or run Cont of Purity for the few times you get hit by large stacks of conditions that your heal won't cleanse in time. I also prefer to use WB mid 2 instead of 3 for easier fury generation paired with the fury extension from hitting 3 stacked burning foes will basicly just keep fury on you constantly, however, if done right, you certainly can use the resolution trait, but your virtues ALREADY give you resolution when you use them and its basicly 100% uptime on your resolution, I dunno why you would need more fr. Unless you want to use Brawler over Zeikros, which is viable, just requires more game knowledge and positioning knowledge so you dont get slapped into the dirt super easy without your healing. I've been playing WB in G3/P1 for a lil bit myself. Easily my favorite class now. Its liek you said, its just so fluid, and fun, WB is easily the best FEELING class and spec int he game for me, it just fit my playstyle so damn well in almost everyway as well so that helped. WB stronk boiz. If you haven't tried it, try it. Be the blue thief. WB also has a TON of build diversity within the spec. You can run Condi, Ranged, Melee, Mixed, hybrid, tanky, squishy whatever and honestly, they all work fairly well. (Condi can be a lil struggle, lacks cover condi like all Guard condi builds.) GS, Hammer, Swords, Pistols and many more all work well with WB, I've even seen a few run Bowbender and make it work. WB is just great. :)
People call it the bell because the game calls it the bell, btw :P "ring the bell to signal cannon fire" "x team rang the bell!" Just thought that was a pretty funny tangent. Cool video though I'm looking for a third class to play because I'm *finally* going for Ascension and I'm a mesmer main. After some shopping around it looks like willbender is gonna be the closest I can get to my beloved mirage :)
Yeah I usually do my videos pretty off the cuff and sometimes say some stupid stuff LOL Willbender is fun! It definitely has its counters, but is a great build to get into PVP with
Hey I hate to self promote but I've got a video called "How to play Vindicator" where I go over that much better than I could explain in a comment. Here's the video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-PdZm0Zt-k-M.html
I love willbender so much. Only negative is willbender doesn’t have much ranged options and traps can hurt willbender a lot but willbender is super satisfying
With the shift towards pvp changes/focus by anet have you thought about making a pvp guild? They haven't been notoriously popular but I kinda think you'd help encourage less toxicity in a guild setting.
Hmm that isn't something I've considered. I'm not sure how qualified I am at guild creation / management. That's an interesting idea. Maybe I should partner with someone who is into the guild management side of things... What do you think?
@homage3 possible, id say it probably wouldn't need a high amount of commitment from the guild if it's mainly just a pvp guild. I'm not sure exactly how thatd impact progress if you wanted to actually level it, get a hall and upgrade the hall. I've led a couple of guilds and done the upgrading process before so that part might be difficult for a pvp guild.
Love this, I’m definitely trying this build as I plunge into pvp for the first time! By the way, what effect are those footsteps your character leaves on the ground? It looks sick
A lot of legendary weapons have "footfall" effects. The legendaries I used are Sunrise, Bolt, and the Shining Blade. Best of luck with PVP I hope you enjoy this build!
You’re the absolute king dude. I used your vindicator build for a while but I had to go back to herald since I am just not used to group fights where I’m a big target. Also herald is just too fun. Love watching your vids. But I would like to see some renegade love from you since it seems like the more underutilized of the three. Also, I’m not sure if you have any experience in WvW, but I have a lot of trouble with thieves there. In PVP I like to bully them a bit but in WvW I struggle… not sure if tips would be in your zone there since you seem more pvp focused
@@ArkayneShad0w Thank you my friend! I agree herald is unmatched on fun factor. Renegade is a funny one. It's a good build, and a couple French players are destroying ranked with it over on EU right now. But no one plays it LOL. I should make a video on it! I'm really not a WVW guy but my understanding is that thief just kinda rules over there. Not really much you can do about it. I have considered making WVW content though so maybe someday!
@@homage3 hehe happens, vs the untamed it can be scary indeed because they have some nice sustain along with the damage :p. Btw try this power herald build ==> Shiro stance/glint stance * Devastation traitline: 1-2-2 *Invocation traitline: 3-3-3 *Herald traitline: 3-2-2 Berserker amulet/rune of the eagle/relic of the sunless hammer + s/s => energy sigils + anything you prefere ( intelligence not needed anymore )
