This game blew me away. Never seen anything like it, and the voice acting was superb. I cried a little at the end even. Superb.

Doom 3 is not 'survival horror'. It's action horror. What is this bizarre habit people have nowadays of calling EVERY horror game 'survival horror'. Like Dead Space, for example. So many people refer to it as 'survival horror'. No. It is not.

Doom 3 is one of those all time favorite horror games that should get braught right back again here a dark and very bad place with this one marine surviving against demon things it is hell on Mars also has a great sound track cool weapons which is why Doom 3 must return again .

The things I hated about Doom 3 were that the shooting was very weird and inconsistent and that it felt like they were stretching it way too long. Also, I didn't like how I've never really struggled with ammo. It's a fucking scientific facility, and yet, there was ammo everywhere on Veteran. On the flipside, I might just be too good at ammo conservation. However, I could ignore that just because the atmosphere is so consistent. Like, yeah, there were parts when I struggled, but I never felt like either me or the demons were on top of the situation. We were both locked in the facility together, both equally dangerous for each other. And even the atmosphere shifts from "oh shit I'm fucked" to "I'll fucking kill everything that even as much as twitches" were done flawlessly.

I keep coming back to play DOOM 3 I've played all the games in the series, but for some reason I like Doom 3 the most. Even when the new Doom Dark Ages was announced, I understand that I will return again to refresh my memory in Doom 3.

I played the Switch version and it's a massive downgrade in graphics, lighting and NPCs compared to this. But it somehow worked in the games favor. Gave it a PS2 era throwback vibe that made it even cooler.

A nice opening half hour this will be I see. Really nice set up to get into the characters before they may die a tragic death. Def fear for their lives rn.

"If your character is trying to survive in a horror setting, in its essence, it's a survival horror game." This rings the same as "Super Mario Bros. is an RPG because you play the role of Mario." I mean, what's the alternative? A character trying to die in a horror setting? Does that describe any game? But in all seriousness, I really respect and appreciate this game, though I find the tone pretty cheesy nowadays. I enjoyed just about every fight with the imps (and there were a lot of them), I felt like it captured some of the classic doom feel of dancing around enemies as you lure them to throw their fireballs in the wrong directions. I think my biggest gripe with this game is how easily you die. Get ambushed by a few gunners without proper cover and you're toast. It forces the pace to a halt as you play peek-a-boo around the corner with snipers about a hundred times. That just never felt like Doom gameplay to me. I much preferred going head-to-head with barons and mancubi. And I think that's one of the big reasons I prefer Doom 2016 in the end, for taking away hitscanning enemies and focusing on running around monsters in cool arena rooms. I also dislike that in Doom 3, you never fight more than about 4 monsters at once at any given time. Also, if you were to ask me my three favorite/most memorable parts of Doom 3: - Realizing you have no flashlight in Hell - In RoE, that one section where you have to put on the Radiation suit which distorts your view - In RoE, that battle arena room in Hell near the end Imagine my disappointment when I realized that all three of those things were removed in BFG edition. :(

Doom 3 is that it's a prequel to all the other Doom games because for one you die fast and the demons completely contrast each other to there Doom 1 Doom 2 Doom 2016 and doom eternal counterparts perhaps at some point during Doom 1 and 2 the Doom Marine also known as the Doom Slayer managed to kill all the basic hell Knights forcing them to reawaken the original hell Knights from Doom 3 but because of how long they have rested for they lost their projectile

Here is a fun coincidence: Doom Guy has a pet bunny named Daisy that gets brutally killed by demons and goes on a bloodlust-fueled revenge quest when things were supposed to be settling down for Doom Guy. John Wick has a puppy killed by a crime lord's son and his friends and goes on a bloodlust-fueled revenge quest when things were supposed to be settling down for John. The puppy was also named Daisy.

I love the style of Doom 3. The darkness and lighting is still 1st class, all these years later. That said, imagine what this game could have been with John Romero working on it. For all his many flaws, Romero was the best at pushing Carmack's tech to its limits

Great video but I think you should have given a bit more time to the differences between BFG edition and the standard Doom 3 (which you receive for free if you purchase BFG on steam). I'm not trying to gatekeep, and personally, I think you should play the version you want to play, but BFG edition makes various changes that actually do dramatically effect the game. For instance, in the original version you cannot simultaneously use your weapons and your flashlight, which can dramatically increase the tension in certain areas and encounters where you have to trust that you remember where your enemies were in the pitch black darkness. BFG edition also increases the amount of ammo, health, and armor you receive, making it so you are basically never short on resources. You also run faster in BFG edition. Anyway, like I said, play the version that suits you, but I do think people should at least be aware that BFG in some ways is a different experience.

Every reviewer keeps saying this is "PS1 style"... is that to make it clear this isn't related to Crow 64? Honestly it looks a lot more like a Dreamcast game in any case, no vertex jittering, cleaner models and much nicer lighting than PS1. I'm nitpicking though and I know it, the game looks cool and that's all that matters. Happy with the recent revival of good survival horrors.

This was done by a small AA studio, Frogwares, best known for the Sherlock Holmes games, and the very first game they've done that featured action combat. It's also getting a sequel, so it's likely they'll do better this time.
