Followed same steps took me 1half hour buddy my console is exactly same model & it has turned out to be brand new console like I have just unboxed big respect 💜 & your video saved me from getting fooled by after market shop solutions
Followed this video, having never did anything even close to this kind of thing before and now it’s silent even when running ghost of Tsushima. Sounded like a jet yesterday
I followed your tutorial almost exactly. Except; I decided to use a soldering gun with blade tip to melt out the plastic. MUCH faster/smoother than a drill or drimmel. Just saying :P
Got mine second hand. I started it and got the jetengine. Of couse i thought about cleaning it. A lot of dust inside and it smelled like tobacco. After i finised cleaning the jetengine was away. But in summertimes and long playing it came back. So i opened everything again and applied thermal paste MX-6 Now its silend but im waiting for summer again. Need i new heatpads? Then would be everything done?
Thankyou So much!! This video was super helpful. I took our PS4 Pro apart , following your steps and about 2 hours later (OMG) I got it all back together and it's working much better The unit has been running about 10 minutes and it super quiet so far. Thanks again!
Greetings from Argentina, I searched a lot of tutorials and then I found yours It's amazing how detailed and very well showed the tutorial was My PS4 was being very loud the past year and even after trying some service from a couple of guys that work with PCs and mobiles, I tried to do the thing in my own Best decision ever, I'm literally crying because it's so quiet now
I did both slim and pro latest models but they still sound loud. A couple games that weren't before make the fan spin hard now. The pro was the only one that had that issue now both have it when I thought I fixed them 😅 Applied themal paste, cleaned heat sink , new thermal pads( they were having trouble sticking to metal) and cleaned the fan literally took both apart slim first then pro. Do you think there is anything else that can be done? Fan spinning way too fast still during some games same with the slim never had issues with slim before disassembly it just needed a clean. Owned them for 3 years
This one wasn't mine, but a friend's. Lots of factors like pets, smoking and general environment. Some people put their systems on carpet floors. I don't know if they're trying to suffocate their consoles but I would never think of doing that.
Great video, but be careful when disconnecting the white cord that goes from the power supply to the motherboard. It can rip the connector off of the motherboard altogether. Found out the hard way unfortunately. Turns out, that happens quite a bit. A lot of repair videos on that also on RU-vid.
Wife got me a limited edition god of war one on valentines day with 2TB. Had to tear down and look before I used, and my god the guys heatsink was clogged with jet black dust that stains your fingers. Like the whole thing was blocked, it pained me seeing the neglect. He'd never taken it apart in 4 going on 5 years. Cleaned thoroughly with alcohol and cotton buds, and changed paste, absolutely silent, not a peep out of it
My PS4 pro (model 7115B) was loud right out of the box. I took it apart and seen the heat sink was filthy with dust and basically suffocating the console. After clearing out the dust it was noticeably better and I could feel the hot air rushing out the back of the console and the jet engine fan was a LITTLE less obnoxious. 6 years later I find out about thermal pads and paste being the main issue and I am not pleased about having to repair something that's basically been broken before I even got it out of the box... but at least now I know why all this is going on and can actually do something about it when I can afford to.
Definitely frustrating for sure. I've been there a few times and kind of see it as an additional part of the experience when getting a console, new or used. It's not for everyone, but I absolutely love opening stuff up, learning about it in terms of what makes it work and how to fix it. Playing games on the console is one hobby, and fixing/repairing is a whole other hobby!
Thanks for this video , not once but twice i followed step by step!! its always nice to have a thorough walk through !! spot on and on point ! love the video of the controller too, I have the same model Starwars set bought for my 2 boys years ago and we cleaned it once together and this time i did it by myself,, Thanks again!
I have a different model of the pro, but this video is amazing. My issue was getting out the power supply. It wouldn’t budge, even with a bunch of pressure, after removing the 4 screws. I pulled hard enough that it started to come apart and seemed like it was going to snap. After that I decided to pull the chute and put it back together and bail. Any advice on what could be going wrong and how I can get the supply out more easily? I do not want to destroy my system trying to get the power supply out. Thanks for the great video!
Get a good grip on the connector of the power supply cable, make sure you're not grabbing the base socket that the wire plugs in to. Some things needle nose pliers should help. Worst case, try grabbing the wire close to the connector by hand and use a little bit, tiny tiny bit of force to disconnect the wire.
hello..hoping i could insight as to why my controller keeps disconnecting from my console.. I have tried all the reset steps.. also..it still does it even while connected with a usb cable... any help would be much appreciated
I recently cleaned my PS4 Pro (Spiderman Edition) and the result was phenomenal. It wasn't that dirty inside to begin with, but changing original thermal pads on memory for Gelid GC Extreme and thermal grease on APU for TG Kryonaut made this console almost dead silent. Now the loudest part are coils....
Thanks for producing this content. I followed this step by step and my system that sounded like a Harrier Jump Jet in take off is now quiet as a mouse. My heatsink had pretty much the same level of dust, but going between each element with a cloth and doing the thermal paste sorted it out. Clear, good presentation, with enough detail, kudos Sir.
Broke my PlayStation!! I followed the instructions, when it comes to the power supply (disconnecting the white cable, please be extremely careful, the socket connector is welded to the motherboard so of course you need pull gently). It's not shown in the video exactly how he pulls it it out. But I couldn't do it! Of course I was extremely careful in the whole process and took my time double checking everything in the video in advance before I did each step. My advice don't pull out the connector out of the motherboard. Pull out the connector from the power supply instead!! Guess I need to find someone who can soldering a new connector to the motherboard.
sorry that happened to you. the power supply wire is not welded to the motherboard, it's a socket and the wire can be unplugged from it. my guess is the piece the wire was plugged in to was pulled off of the board instead of the wire being pulled out of the socket. i hope you can find someone who can fix the board for you,.
I have a ps4 pro that I bought used and it makes such a loud souund and I’ve taken the top cover off and tried cleaning the fans to my best ability but it’s still so loud and I don’t want to deep clean it and take it apart because I don’t want it to break or anything so I really don’t know what to do
At some point you might conquer the fear and just go for it! You gotta start somewhere. Yes, it's expensive and would suck if it gets messed up, but even that is a lesson. I've messed up lots of times modding and fixing, but it's all apart of the experience. You might be surprised what you're capable of my friend!
Thanks I bought the same model Star Wars and mine to sounds like a jet engine. I'll follow your east to follow and tear mine down and hope for the best.
This absolutely saved my butt and made an ENORMOUS difference! Even for a beginner like me, I didn't even have a spare screw leftover hahaha For me one main issue was the thermal paste splooshed out the sides and onto the circuit board. Leaving little to none where it needed to be. After scooping up the splooshed paste and putting it where it should be, it made a huge difference. Thanks for the great video and help!
Great job, how often should you apply thermal paste? For me it only happens in game 1 when my son is playing Fortnite and the fan is making noise. The question with I also need to put thermal paste. Because in terms of cleaning, I cleaned everything except the thermal paste. I would appreciate an answer, thanks. My model is 7216B is it the same?
I have watched a gazillion videos on how to clean your PS4 Pro, but this one is by far the best! Thank you so much for sharing this video, I'm doing mine this afternoon.
Thank you so so much, I was going step by step with your video and now it's much much cleaner and without dust and what more important much more quiet. Again thanks a lot 👍👏
