I honestly thought you were going to say the Cobra tec for best overall. I don't think you can go wrong with any of these, myself just ordered the ping i530.
Been fitted and playing the Cobra Forged TecX for the year and am totally disappointed with distance, feel and forgiveness. Changed shafts still w no success. Back to my old Speedblades but will consider Takoma, Maltby, and even Costco (great no risk return policy)
So when you tested it on the slower speed swingers 80ish, did the Accra show any improvement? Thanks for the video as well. Having been injured and a slow swinger anyways, trying to help my game out a bit.
Ross- I find your content very much value add. Keep doing what your doing ad I am sure you will gain more subs as more people see the value of your content. Keep up the good work!
Another great video. Kind of weird how different they all are but at the same time so similar. The P790 seemed to give the best launch, spin and tightest dispersion but didn't win a single category.
That's brilliant means they are probably a good fit for you. I'm certainly not saying that they can't have stopping power it will of course just come down to your delivery 👌
@@epgolfstudios How would you compare Srixon ZX4 Mk2 to JPX923 HM pro? Are they in a different category in your opinion? I realise the best option is a fitting, which I have done. I wasn’t hitting it well so had to back a 2nd time 🤪
Great video, Ross! My SS is very close to what you were showing and I am a 10 HC, so just the information I need to upgrade from my Callaway Rogue Pro irons. Beautiful dog as well! Redbone coonhound?
Realizing that there are so many irons in this category, how do you think the p770 compare to the p790 in this category? I’ve had recommendations to try the p770 from a couple of friends but have not yet been fitted
Well in all honesty the only reason the P770 isn't in this category is obviously loft. But in my honest opinion the forgiveness difference between the 770 and 790 is nothing so all it really comes down to is ball flight. 790 being stronger in loft will launch lower and spin less and the 770 will launch higher and spin more. So just depends what you need
You focus so much on the spin and height but the Apex stops quicker and flies further and stops quicker than all the others. If this is the case then height and spin are not the be all to end all.
You can’t take much notice of total yardage on here as there’s too many variables to take into account. On a completely level playing field if a ball flies lower and have less height and less spin it will always take longer to stop
What would you fit someone in that has reasonably quick speeds (118-124mph driver speed) and is a mid to highish handicap 15-22. Game improvement has jacked lofts and you mention these aren't made with players with higher speed hands that dont have trouble getting the ball up.
Another great comparison. I think that going into price, free shaft ( upgrade) options and overall package might also be useful especially from a fitting perspective. Having that experience and those options would provide a great insight for those who haven’t had an expert fitting experience. ⛳️🏌🏻
I think if you've watched the video you'll be able to answer that 😂 but no we don't do them. Stopped a while ago as now they kinda just gone Director to Consumer and doing their own thing so will let them do that
I just got got into MB’s up to 8i. What’s interesting is that I am coming from game improvers. My swing speed with mid irons hovers around 95mph +/-2mph. What I’ve noticed with the game improvement clubs is the spin and front to back dispersion was just too unpredictable. Draws could easily total out 200-210 yards, fades would be like 170-180 and the club heads were so damn big that it’s near impossible to visualize your intended shot shape or exactly where the sweet spot is. Also bringing ball flight down with my old clubs was just more work then it needed to be. They serve a purpose for people looking to have fun on course. Blades and CB players irons are not for everyone… certainly not slow speed players or ones that are all over the face of the club, that said, it’s much easier to score with blades and CB’s then game improvement clubs because they’re way more predictable
I am 12 with 103mph driver speed and over 80mph with 7 iron. Got 2021 p790's reg shaft. New GT driver hazardous 6.0 60g would the P770 be good for my new irons?
Absolutely no idea unfortunately mate, can't answer that without seeing you in person and watching you hit shots and seeing all your numbers. Really there's only ever one way to find out what's best for you, get properly fitted where you can hit lots of different heads against each other and figure out what works best
I have the newest Cobra Forged Tec single length irons. I own lots of various high end Japanese brand irons but these quickly became my favorites. Broke 70 twice for the first time ever within one month of gaming these. I can’t imagine ever going back to anything else.
Well done swinging at 80, it's so much more relatable for the clubs being used. You mention that for even slower swings 70-75 you'd recommend a more lofted option, my swing is in that lower speed range but my delivery and strike point is pretty good. 3.5 to 4 down, fraction in to out, club face angle square or slightly open, slight draw spin. If you do a 70-75 mph video I imagine you'd be demoing the HL models, if that video does take place would you mind also hitting a couple of more traditional lofted compact models as well. (primarily without the off set). Thanks and well done again. (just subscribed, thought I had already but have done so now).
Had P790 for 3 years, Don't think there is anything out there that is different enough to make a significant improvement worth £1000 for a new set. So will be keeping mine for a while yet! Good video though, very informative,
I’ve tried all of these, you fitted me into the 790’s and was verging on 770, glad i went for the 790 as already dropped 5 shots on my handicap, back to mid single figures despite my age. It wasn’t just the club, it was your shaft fitting, going back to steel and slightly heavier has improved my distance and dispersion. So, getting a good fitting is most important, which ever of these you chose.
I think he said he was changing the delivery to mimic those who these would suit eg the aoa. Maybe that’s why??? I would swing with the club landing on my head if I got the results this got 😂
Yeah it sounds like someone's a bit jealous doesn't it 👀😂😂😂 and you are exactly right my normal swing is 10-15 mph quicker than this so this is like me trying to swing in slow motion. And I do that as people just moan if I'm hitting these irons 200 yards 😂
