In terms of format, this is likely better for channel growth esp when talking about new equipment which will get most activity around launch window. Also, you can get content pieces out on a more frequent basis and less editing pressure on yourself. The quality itself hasn’t diminished at all. There’s still room for longer pieces in winter for example when things naturally slow down a bit.

Excellent review and one I have been waiting for. I currently have the Apex cf16s . I have had Ping i500s and Taylormade P790s and hated both. I was gutted when I saw the AI200s were also hollow bodied as I’m due an upgrade. Might be the Apex21s at £600 online might be the best way forward .

Excellent video as always! They're such marginal gains generation to generation. I'm always curious how much of a generational jump actually matters to most average golfers. Say, 2-3 years old and there might not be a huge difference most of the time in performance from going to brand new clubs. What about a set 5-6 years old? 8-9 years old? Ten years plus? at what point does it become almost a guarantee they'll benefit from new head tech?

Thanks bud! Well again I think as always it comes down to fitting. Irons aren't like drivers where we are trying to get max distance. It's all about a balance of control and distance. So if you have a set that work really well for you, give you optimal numbers, optimal control, optimal gapping etc then you won't find any advantage really. Forgives is overrated imo. They are at a point where massively improving equipment is psychically impossible. So again just comes down to making sure the set you have for you as optimally as possible 👌

I think 8 to 10 years you will see pretty impressive advances. I'm in the process of upgrading 15 year old gear didn't play for a few years and back in again last 12 months. I've upgraded my driver 12 years and I tested it multiple times at the range and I get 15M more which is huge

Good comparison. I play the Apex 21s and love them. Always curious, but it looks like there is not that much extra in the new ones. I usually keep my irons about 8-10 years, and this is validation for that practice.

Yeah I would agree tbf. But most people actually start off in the wrong iron sets for them in would say. Just purely because they listen to the marketing around forgiveness. So most would really benefit from a real fitting 👌

Like length of video. Better test than a robot. Good summaries are key, which you had. Can jump to conclusion and then decide if want to go back to the details. A little bonus would be if you could show your full swing speed numbers (190, 200, 210??). Personally, I assembled my irons over 15 years ago (Snake Eyes TC-02) and I see no reason to buy a set with 7 on a 5i with shorter shaft. Would be fun to travel over the pond and pay you to fit a modern iron set...which I wouldn't buy, but find out if anything on the table. 😁 I do like your out of box thinking and confident you could find an optimum driver shaft for me...or anyone. Great channel. Hope it grows. Still think you can charge for fittings and lessons...you are way too honest to make it upselling.

I had to do a Troll Search on Apex Irons after yesterday 9-3-24. I Game the Apex 16's & went to hit the Apex 21's thinking it's time to get new tech to offset my lack of mobility. DUDE! I was carrying my Apex 16 8 Iron 162-168 yards vs the Apex 21 Irons (5 Year newer Tech) within 2 yards of that. 🤣I was about to spend $900 bucks on a new set of clubs, until I hit them. HECK NO..🤣🤣🤣 Hit the center of the face for more distance. Upgrading from already having Apex is a HARD NO FOR ME. Upgrading from "Never Having Apex" is a Yes for me.

Hit the ai200. Long but low spin. Tried a few clubs. t150 and new p770 was giving about 150to 153 carry. T200 gave 158 while ai200 was 164 yrds. Hit it last so swing speed at start of fitting was 75-78 mph…. At end 80-82. I was getting 6000 spin with p770….. about 4300 with ai200. Choose your poison carefully

He certainly is trying to sell the Ai200’s; he seems to me to be dismiss the areas where the Apex 21 are better & bump up the Ai’s where they are better. 1. Looks are subjective, I don’t give a crap if you like one over the other. 2. The distance is negligible. 3. The angle of decent is important , less roll-out = 1 for the 21’s 4. Dispersion is important, = 1 more for the 21’s 5. From what I witnessed, the 21’s were more consistent & less roll-out. If push comes to shove, there doesn’t seem to be much difference between them in reality It’s a shame that you can’t get an unbiased opinion from these reviewers.
@epgolfstudios
@epgolfstudios 5 дней назад
Sorry but what an absolute crock of shit this comment is 😂 all of the points you mention are absolutely irrelevant. Yes looks are subjective so I'm allowed my opinion but I think vast majority would agree but it definitely sounds and feels better. 0.5* angle of descent is not going to be noticeable on course and it's that close if I did this test again it could flip. Dispersion is all me and the roll out you can't really take any notice of on these Sims. In the end I literally say if you have a well fitted set of Apex 21s would you change..... probably not. No one does fairer tests than me on YT. I put quite a lot of work in to ensure that. So if you don't like them or agree with them please don't watch 👍🫡

Great to see this and timely as well. Got to hit these today at my local fitting centre on a short awareness session. Compared them to my (non-fitted) Apex 21s as well. Definitely for me Ai200 rather than the Ai300 which I also tried. I did see some real improvements - some of which you might attribute to a better shaft choice but tighter dispersion, more consistency on all data points. A +1mph on swing speed, +8mph on ball speed, good launch & decent angles and good spin. Additional carry and distance off the speed and increased efficiency. As you said they all look stunning, sound amazing and feel superb compared to the older model. I was really impressed.
@epgolfstudios
@epgolfstudios Месяц назад
@@mikefrench3574 yeah 100% an upgrade from a looks / feel / sound perspective for sure. That's some great increases tbf but yeah I'd definitely put a lot of that down to you rather than the club 😂 no way you're getting 8mph ball speed more out of it unless there's something very odd going on or more likely an unfair comparison of data sets. I'd say it's a bit more efficient tbf maybe 1 or 2 mph ball increase would be reasonable, and that's still a decent gain in all honesty with what they've got to work with nowadays

The Apex 21 7 iron loft is 30.5 and the new ai 200 is 30.0 what is your conclusion on accuracy when the decent and spin will change by .5 loft, my handicap with Paradym triple diamond and full callaway bag for apex 21 Irons seem to be more accuarate than any other iron I have tried, not sure it is worth it to change? Your take? PS I am 77 years old and carry a GHIN of 5 here in the High Rockys of New Mexico...all Graphite regular flex but Paradym triple D is a stiff Brava at 54 Gs.
@epgolfstudios
@epgolfstudios Месяц назад
I'd say if you get on with your irons very well, and they are super accurate, then they sound like a great fit. Changing probably doesn't sound like the best course of action. But the loft being .5* difference isn't noticeable. I'd say the internal weighting design is slightly different which is where we see the slightly lower spin and launch coming from with the Ai200. But as I said in the test of you do have a slightly slower swing speed then the Ai would probably be slightly worse for you than the Apex 21

They are a nice little upgrade to be fair. Just a bit more modern, look better, feel better. Ok the performance isn't massively different but it was never going to be. So if your Apex 19s suit you well then these should too 👌
