I'm a lifelong crafter who discovered junk journaling in 2020. The idea of making something useful out of nothing has helped tie together so many parts of my personality - writing, papercrafting, sewing, fascination with vintage things, and seeing beauty in unexpected places.

That was an amazing junky journal tutorial and such cute birds at the end I feel the need to order glue sticks to go with my collection of miss matched papers although I will need an idea to do without sewing 🪡 🧵 🌹❤️💯

Good morning Anne! This is very timely for my crafty space. I have wanted to embrace the playing cards. However I wasn’t finding anything that wowed me. THIS however immediately drew me in. And I realized I was sad about the other techniques because you couldn’t “see” it was a playing card. My family always had “card games” at family gatherings which bring me very fond memories from my childhood. Thus the “face” was important for me to be inspired to use the cards!! Thank you thank you! Also, the other channels you shared were “new” to me, so I will go watch their take as well. Have an awesome week!

Twila, I'm so happy the timing was fortunate on this one - do have fun with your playing cards! I agree that I like to preserve their original identity - there are so many memories in playing cards for me, too (playing rummy every Sunday afternoon for years and years!) Thanks as always!

Great basic tutorial. I struggle with anything that uses Amazon packaging or filler paper as I don’t order from the Internet. Glad there are many work arounds. I also keep an analog address book, check register and calendar. At 69 years of age, my past address books are quite a trip down memory lane. Loved this version of Frankin paper. It was reminiscent of Megjournal’s Junk Journal January/July journals. Excellent video. Thank you.💜🐞
@annekenlon
@annekenlon День назад
Thank you so much for these kind thoughts! Thanks also for the reminder that not everyone has Amazon envelopes - and yes, one easy work-around is just using brown paper from a grocery bag - essentially the same material when doubled up. I agree that past address books bring back memories - a real-life record of people's moves, marriages, deaths, etc. I still have my Mother's old address book and I love looking back at the pages in her dear handwriting. Glad the video was useful and thanks for watching!

Hi, Jennie! I used metal dies in my die cutting machine (totally not necessary for journal making, but I got it years ago for my card making practice and I do still use it a lot.) That particular oval is 2 5/8 inches by 1 5/8 inches. Thanks so much for watching - have fun with yours!

now... how about forthcoming videos on how to journal in that? I find the process of junk journaling much more challenging than the making... and as a result I 'make'... but don't journal. :). Sorry if you already said you plan to do that... and I missed it!
@annekenlon
@annekenlon 2 дня назад
Hi, thanks for the comment! I actually addressed that "how to" issue earlier this year in this video - this may help: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-acCV4FG-Ce4.html I haven't repeated the videos in subsequent months because I pretty much follow the same process every month. Make a list, group the ideas together, then choose the tags and cards to write on. The first junk journal I ever did was a gratitude journal, and that's also a great way to start. I'm not religious, but I do reflect a lot on things I'm grateful for, and I wanted to record it. Same process - make a list, get an idea of what I want to write about each thing on that list, then just grab tags and pockets and start writing! I hope this is helpful. Thanks for asking!

I have resisted Franken paper because I placed it in the “too fiddley” category. However, the way you approach it is right up my alley. And why have I never thought of using a template out of one of those adverts before??? Always such good ideas! OH and I have never considered just making toppers that will sometime in the future marry a journal?!? I mass make other things, why not toppers! Have a great weekend Anne!

Twila, I'm so happy you connected with some of these ideas! Yes, the discovery of the Franken-page technique has been sort of a game changer for me.
