Promoting people to get outside and enjoy what nature has to give. The channel will focus on: Backpacking, Day Hiking, Kayaking, Canoeing, Car Camping, Family, Getting Kids Outdoors, and Financial Independence (FI).
Getting kids outdoors and our faith in God means a lot to my family. How we raise the next generation to be stewards of nature and hopefully even do better than we have is key to the longevity of all this. Plus the joy I see when kids get out and enjoy nature brings a happiness to me I can't put into words.
I also focus on the Outdoors and Financial Independence because I feel that when you look after your personal finances you afford yourself and your family the ability to have more free time to truly appreciate the outdoors which is why I believe the two can go hand in hand.

I think only lodge and cabin rentals include the pool. You can purchase a day pass to use it though. You'll want to double check with Salt Fork to be sure though.
Thanks for watching! Yeah the Journey is a great boat! Not the faster 14’ yak but turns like a white water. Jackson did a great job on them…sad they had to stop making them.
@@JourneyontheTrail Actually Jackson started reproducing the Journey in 2023 again. All the accessories are available on their website too. I’m excited because I own a couple Journey’s myself.
Thanks for showing me a hike in Virginia that wasn't on my radar until I saw this. As much hiking as I've done in VA, I don't think I've ever stopped in at Lynchburg, I'll have to fix that 🤣
Thanks for watching and the comment! No cell service that I recall. Trail’s were marked well though. There’s a long loop and short loop and there was signage showing where to turn for each option. Plenty of campsites as well but water can be an issue so may want to plan to drop water or carry extra.
Hello! Found your channel by searching for North Bend trails. After a Lumbar spinal fusion and a knee replacement, I am on my way to getting more mobile. Uneven ground isn't so good yet, but you are walking trails that are within striking distance of where we live. We have family around the Parkersburg area, and we are actually camping at North Bend next week. Currently doing 1 mile pavement walks, but I really want to walk the nature trails like you do. Thanks for the inspiration and info!
Hey thanks so much for watching and commenting! Which part of North Bend will you be camping at? Glad to hear you’re able to start getting out and being mobile. The rail trail might be a good trail for you to check out while you’re there. Lots of flat sections and cool tunnels to go through. Really appreciate the kind words…have a great time out there!
@@JourneyontheTrail We'll be at the Cokely Campground near Harrisville. We were there last year and loved it. We always have my brother and his wife from Parkersburg over to have steaks over the fire. I certainly plan to investigate what's available, and also hope to find a few paved handicap trails for my wife in her wheelchair. I know these are few and far between, but we can keep looking. Thanks so much!
You know that there is a whole other set of shelters? You guys stayed at Pioneer Shelter 2. There are also the Souix Sites with 5 shelters and tent sites like Pioneer as well.
I’m not sure why but the other shelters were closed when we got there per the Ranger station. Assuming it was just a temporary deal. Thanks for watching.
Cool video. I've never been there before and now I don't need to. I went along your journey lol. Looks like you all eat well on the trail, good stuff and good fun. I'll have to check this place out some time.
Thanks for watching bud! Yeah especially on these one nighters I try to eat really good! Nothing very scenic to see on the main backpacking loop but those shelters were pretty nice. Wish we had more places with them in Ohio and West Virginia.
Always a great time when you can get out into nature! Excellent job capturing your trek! Enjoyed the commentary, as well as, the beautiful forest scenery. Thanks for taking us along & sharing your experience. Glad we found your channel! 👍
How beautifully luscious and green. What an awesome adventure. WOW love that family tree engraved on those bricks. We saw the dock and thought of the song "sitting on the dock on the bay" all of the hike and Stone House, is very serene and relaxing.
Start in Buchanan and go to Arcadia. We had multiple cars in our group for shuttling but there are some liveries in the area that may provide shuttling as well. I’d start with Twin River Outfitters in Buchanan. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Would you be able to share where you took out for Arcadia? And have you ever taken out at Glasgow? If so can you send info on that as well? Thank you!!!
Check out the following link…has good information on the exact locations for put-ins/take-outs upperjamesriverwatertrail.com/plan-a-trip/access-points/ I’ve not taken out at Glasgow but I have put in there to go through Balcony Falls (Glasgow to Snowden). There is a rapids section right there near the access so you’ll want to spot out your approach.
