I got these minis because i thought they looked cool. Then I found out they were a warcry war band (just need some extra minis) and now my mates are talking about taking up AOS. Cities it is
@@risejaenu You can take them in Cities as a regular regiment hero (that comes with the Companions as a mandatory regiment unit). You can even include some additional units in their regiment, just like in any other regiment. You just can't take them as a Regiment of Renown in Cities, meaning you don't get the additional RoR ability.
Just built mine due to this video. I just won a RT with DoK and I am debating on replacing a unit of shadowbonkers and spear harpies with this unit. The only issues is bringing the army from a 2 drop to a 3 drop. Being able to go second is a big deal for my strat.
Blacktalons is great too, you can bring a wizard in armies that dont have wizards (KO, Fyreslayers) and bring Krondspine to try and help fight the manifestation game.
Love these short videos Rob, I ran Callis & Toll at bootcamp 3 with my KO they are incredible, KO can't stop the magic but they now have a dedicated unit to kill it! You just can't shift them off objectives, so strong.
In Cities of Sigmar, Callis and Toll looses on survivability, but gain on assassination power: the keywords makes it that you can deploy them, then use the Officar's Order "Advance in formation" (not a move keyword) to have both part of the unit move 3", turning a 9" charge into a 6" charge.
Ive been playing these guys in Warcry and they are great there too! New to AoS, just got the Skaventide box, would love to see a video explaining how to graduate from the box and spearhead into full 2k points armies for each side. Love the content.
I really like this sort of video, straight to the point. I generally click off of videos that "waffle on", especially if they don't get to the title topic quickly and clearly.
Really like this for order armies/players and hope they don’t just nerf them into the ground so people don’t play them. But instead I hope they just buff the other RoR so they are just as good so other factions have great options as well.
it's the auto include to solve the gaps in the cities list. i personally think it sucks cause it's becoming the copy and paste for each cities list. just wait a few months she'll be nerfed back on to the shelf. instead lets hope there are some tweaks to the greater list of units in cities.
The Age of Index app you are referring to, are the rules in there official? I see rules that I was surprised to see .. (Some STD Warbands .. Skaven Plague Priest, Censer Bearers) etc ... that I haven't seen in other places. Thank you
If it’s a video done by Rob (short or long) I’ll make time to watch…. How about a review of each grand alliances regiments of renown? (Chaos, order, destruction, death)
The Blacktalons are also good and worth taking a look at, especially in IDK For some reason it took a hot minute for people to catch on to these lol. New edition and all, lots of information, but I called this out in my local group almost immediately. A few days after the app launch. Went into regiments of renown, saw these and the Blacktalons and I immediately was like wow, these will be everywhere once people catch on. Definitely be weary that they will get nerfed or point hiked. Even at an extra 100 points they'd still be worth taking. It almost feels like a complete oversight on GWs part lol.
I really like the regiments of renown. Though order definitely has all the coolest regiments. I would like to see more character specific regiments like Callis and Tolls or the Blacktalons. What would be really cool to see is completely unaligned units and characters like Gotrek so we can have mercenaries from non playable races like the silent people or the Ulgu elves.

Would these guys be fairly priced at 300? 400? When I first read the datasheet I thought one hero guy only had two pistols and the other had the blades profile, but they each have Both and they get a buffed deep strike!
I'm brand new to AoS, finally making the transition from Warcry and Kill Team, and picked up the Cities spearhead and the SCE half of the Skaventide box and have loved playing spearhead. I was seriously considering getting Callis and Toll just because of how cool they all looked but I think you've convinced me to go from "considering" to "done deal".
Who the hell writes such rules? Just nuts! It’s not some fancy tactic or combo some player had come up to - it’s a regiment of renown - a unit that can be analysed and tested in a vacuum
really useful vid Robbo, helps us all understand *why* something is being taken by lots of people, rather than just 'oh that's being taken a lot' when we look at tournies. You gem
So seriously... you can’t take them in a CoS army because they’re a RoR? Not super familiar with AoS, so sorry for what’s probably a stupid question. Also, when the hammer drops, how do you predict they’ll be nerfed? Just a points increase, like GW would likely do with 40k, or and actual change to unit stats and abilities?
they are part of Cities of Sigmar, and the rules look identical, cost is the same (includes the Toll's Companion too). The RoR version is available to all other Order Factions
So i noticed the Regiment of renown rule "Sigmars justice" is noted to be a "once per turn" ability but also in the deployment phase. Isn't that contradictory? I mean the deployment phase only happens once per game right? So, it should be a "Once per battle" ability not a "Once per turn" ability. Unless they mean deployment phase is happening in every movement phase, you can "deploy" from reserves and do this multiple times per game. What is your thoughts on this?
I ordered these yesterday for my brother so he could get a cities army, being new to the game myself I didnt know I could use them for my KO... I will get him something else and keep these :D
Video format. Anything up to 30 minutes is pretty good for me. I actually like to WATCH the videos, rather than just listening. Even with Juggz, I try to listen to those longer videos while painting, but I find myself not painting and just watching the screen instead.
Liked the short video format on the RoR. Really great to get a better handle on what's shaping up to be popular in the meta before I interact with it on the board. Doubt it's as good as The Saviors of Cinderfell, but I'm keen to see how gross Elthiwns Thorns + Hunters of Huanchi is in Seraphon
how does wiley to the last work? like if you dealt 10 unsaved damage to the unit would you only deal 5 damage? or if one model was on 1 health and you dealt 6 damage would you kill one model and leave the other on 5 health?
