I'm thinking abt adding solar panel at my home in Manchester, UK which is 70% of the year is cloudy. I got few quotes & most wants me to put in MicroInverter. One installer suggested to use Aiko 455w Gen2 solar panel which got Partial Shading Optimisation in built it along with Sun Synk 5.32kw inverter & 2x5kwh Sun synk battery. With 16 panel he sugested it would generate abt 6200kwh annually. I'm really struggling with understanding various component and which to go for. Thanks for helping me ignore MicroInverters as I agree there are more cons with them then pro. I wonder if you have any suggestiong/opinion on setup I was proposed with Aiko Solar panel? I would really appreciate your thought on it. Thanks for great videos -really helped me in my journey in understaing this Solar world.

Thank you for the video comparison . I’m using Tesla power wall three and the units are in my basement. The garage is 80 feet away.. how can a buy directional Tesla car battery charger be connected. Would it have to be connected with a DC line or use home power to charge. Will a separate circuit be required to the power wall three or gateway for by directional charging?

Another bullshit video about some bullshit windturbine concept this idea is so old it is in the first testament. Most places have not enough wind to do anything, it won't help if the damm thing only works for half a hr a day or week. Even if there is enough wind, they are noisy enough to want to shotgun the thing so you won't have to listen to it anymore. And the time it takes to install it the cost of wiring and batteries, one would be better off to hook it to a bicycle and pedal run the thing until you can get enough juice to play the computer for 30 minutes or less. Could also mount it on top of your car and drive down the road to make it work perfect. With the smarts people have if small weird windmills worked, we would have had lots of these working before ww2. The reason we don't is they aren't worth a shit you'd be better off and cheaper to use a gas generator to make a little power.

I think many people underestimate the amount of mechanical energy needed to create significant electrical energy. An e-bike battery with 0.25kWh battery might propel you along the road for 15-25miles. To reverse the argument imagine trying to generate 0.25kWh of energy by riding your bike. Just because something is spinning around fast doesn't mean you can extract much energy from it. One tiny wind turbine in your back yard isn't going to power very much at all. 20 solar panels on your roof easy. 20 wind turbines on your roof not so.

Every mobile electronic device I have has a Li-Ion battery. No problem having these next to my bed, or left with children. EV with Li-Ion battery. Oooh scary. My guess is that if you compare the number of gas powered car fires they would outnumber EV car fires by several orders of magnitude, but they are never report in the news, whereas every EV fire is reported as a major headline national incident. Why is this I wonder ?

Overhyped myth. Having designed a vertical axis wind turbine (VAWT) with industry leading efficiency, 3rd party tested and verified in a wind tunnel, it is an overhyped myth. If you want a kinetic sculpture, buy a vertical axis wind turbine like the Harmony turbines, Wind Tulip or any other promoted VAWT. They are selling an unobtainable promise.

Unless companies have UL listed products and domestic service centers, I wouldn't bother for inverters. But batteries are different - only thing that can go wrong is the BMS - EG4 can sell their UL listed batteries for $250KWh and make a nice profit. It's insanity that they are less than half the price of the 'name brand' solutions - there's nothing meaningfully different between UL listed batteries except the price and marketing. What needs to happen is more companies having a meter socket adapter solution like Tesla. It simplifies installation (and reduces cost) dramatically. I was going with EG4 or BigBattery for my ESS, but the extra labor and materials offset their lower cost solutions. Now, reluctantly, I'm going with PW3, simply because of ease of installation. Plus, Tesla is a brand people know and there are a zillion people who can service their systems.
@solartimeusa
@solartimeusa День назад
THANK YOU SO MUCH for this comment! So many people are in very much the same mindset. What I am worried about EG4 is not the battery, im worried about the inverter. lack of proper relay in case of a failure. The new inverter they came out with will have a better solution where there will not be a need for a "bypass" to be added. Lucky for You Tesla PW3 has it build in. I love the idea of low cost products, what I worry about is service to the inverters if EG4 decides to pull out of the market. But that's the risk homeowners take and its their option. Thanks again for sharing!!

The problem with wind turbine is the designs. If you could build one that operates on little wind and will take full power also at high winds. The problem with wind, is that there will be no wind for maybe a year, wind change or not enough is a big problem.

In order to reduce CO2 emissions associated with electricity, measures are needed for the night when solar power cannot be generated. The device in my photo is a device that uses morning and evening wind to exhaust heat from homes and reduce air conditioner consumption. As was explained, it is impossible to expect a constant amount of wind power in a residential area, and considering energy conversion efficiency, I think it is better to just use the wind as it is. Although it is in Japanese, we have also published other effective heat shielding measures on our homepage, so please take a look if you are interested. Last year and this year were both very hot, but we have been able to reduce our summer electricity consumption every year. If you live in an area with high electricity bills, we think you can recover the cost in about two years.

It's just plain physics that residential wind systems do not work. First, vertical axis wind machines are garbage and none of them have ever proven to produce a reasonable amount of power with respect to their cost. Second, any reasonable power producing wind machine needs to be at least 40 feet taller than anything within 300 feet laterally. This makes residential wind machines completely impractical.
