I had the sleeve on 23rd of September 2024 and I'm home and really can't drink the protein shakes cause it feels like it's to much but I can drink the water and protein water sipping every 15 minutes and I get up to walk to loose up that gas. I'm 60 and I'm really terrified cause I can't drink the protein shakes. Not even one.
Hi, it will get better. Drink what you can. It's just your stomach healing from the surgery. If it continues, I'd let the surgeon know. I had my surgery 5 years ago and I lost 170 pounds and I've kept it off. You got this! Good luck!
I find the intake issue confusing in many ways - how many ounces at a time, for liquids and regular food. But since the first weeks is just liquids, there aren’t really meals.
How about a clothes haul, maybe before and after at this point in your journey. Still sounds like you have alot to say, alot of info left to share. I just found you today and have been binge watching your videos. Hope to here from you again soon.
Hi hun, sounds like you're doing great. I'm too scared to get surgery, could you elaborate on the 6 month program before your surgery. You lost so much weight even before the surgery and I'm very curious what you changed and learned to get such great results. I sympathize with all the problems before the weight loss, I'm there right now.
Hey Ter..it’s nice to see you and I can relate to not being around because it becomes a part of life, but Happy Surgiversary! You look great and it is really nice to see you are still progressing in your journey. You are truly inspiring 🌹
Well I'm sure you realize that I didn't have my surgery yet ,Pennsylvania just said elective surgeries can begin, so I'm hoping for surgery maybe the end of June begining of July I was told that there are around 60 clients ahead of me, so I'm doing pretty good since January when I really decided this is it I have lost 36 lb so I'm okay with that my highest was 341 the day I had my first appointment with my surgeon I was 324lbs,and I'm down to 290 to 294 fluctuating around there but I'm ready to lose it ALL, My forever half just last night he told me I Love you for who you are not anything else I said I know you don't care but I'm doing this for me we have been together for 27 years as of the 27th of May he works on a tugboat so he works 3 weeks on 3 weeks off and before the tug he was a commercial scalloper from North Carolina to Boston is where he scalloped I do miss ALL THE FRESH SEAFOOD ok got to run, Terry you look absolutely FANTASTIC I hope I do as well chat soon 🎉🎉🥳🥳🌺🌺
Hi Terri, my name is Teresa also 58, "new at this for now". I have been looking on line a lot and going through as much information. I registered to go to one of the groups meetings held at the hospital as well. I have already checked with insurance and that is a go. Its really hard to find a video with people my age, so thank u for sharing.
I just discovered your channel. You are an inspiration! I have been doing the 6 month diet with my doctor, and I have my final appointment next week. I’m starting to get nervous! Seeing people like you gives me hope.
I needed to hear this today. Sleeved on 12/30/19 down 25 pounds. Having a very difficult time with the emotional aspect of losing and lifestyle changes. Thank you! I hope family issues resolve for you soon.
Currently taking 4 shots a day and Gastric Bypass surgery is Monday!! January 6, 2020. Now on my liquid diet.I am so excited thinking I may be able to go off insulin. 55 years old and been diabetic for 20 years.... currently 207.
Well, change is possible, Susan. Just look at me : ) You are taking the steps to change your life for the better. Good for you. Good luck with your surgery! Stay in touch and let me know how it's going, okay?
Congratulations Terry!! It has indeed been a remarkable year and I loved seeing your transformations throughout the year!! Great job!! Here is looking forward to an amazing 2020!!
Hey Ter..happy holidays to you. It’s really nice to see you. Congratulations on your incredible loss! I am stuck in the 250s right now trying to reach 250. I am truly happy for you
Isn’t it weird how hard it can be remembering 200 from 300! I do it myself sometimes. Great loss this week and even better NSVs!! Smart idea getting clothes on Black Friday ... did you go online or in person? I’ve started to lose again after a long stall and my favorite NSV is sitting in a chair and my elbows fit inside the arms rather than on the outside!!
How fun is your NSV, Judy? Yeah, I keep catching myself adding 100lbs ... LOL! I have done both online and in person. All the Black Friday shopping was online because I could get free shipping. So far, everything I ordered fit fine.
You are doing Fantastic, it looks like my sleeve surgery will be in April sometime about 5 weeks into my journey I'll let you know what's going on but I think you're doing a great job and your surgery was on my birthday
You are doing great. Congrats on the swimming. I wish I had a place near me to do water aerobics cuz I would enjoy that. LOL, I've been able to swim once since I lost weight. I know what you mean about sinking rather than floating. I'll be glad when I can get back to exercise. I have had 2 surgeries in the last 3 months so I haven't been able to work out. Hopefully, I'll be able to start back next week. I just eat better and do better when I do exercise. Love me some veggies. I've always done veggies because I love them so much. Strangely, yesterday, I still had 171 grams of protein and about 30 net carbs. Go figure. Keep it up, you are looking and doing great!
You look great!! And I laughed so hard when you found out that you no longer float!! Haha!! I've always floated chest high and now I float at my chin, so I completely understand your astonishment!!
Great Video! If you turn your phone horizontal and film, your videos will fill up the RU-vid screen. If you’d ever like to FaceTime I’d be up to it to support each other in our VSG journey. - Jodie in Colorado
Good to see you up and walking! Happy that your fur baby is doing okay!! And yes, Thanksgiving is just one day ... far more important that we eat correctly the rest of the time.
For a tasty veggie side dish I like the Alexia Loaded Cauliflower, I can sometimes find it at Safeway. www.alexiafoods.com/premium-vegetable-sides/loaded-cauliflower. Glad you had a great Thanksgiving. My husband and I were in Waldport OR, yes it was cold. We missed the snow storm before Thanksgiving in the Siskiyou Mts and left early to miss the 2nd batch of snow.
Awesome that you are doing so well and stayed strong over Thanksgiving. 1 day a year a little indulgence can be the thing that keeps you on track for the long term.
Great video and it is great seeing you looking and feeling better! Hope the trend continues and that you are completely healed soon! Also, good reminder to be grateful for those gifts that we have now. I am going to re-set up my bullet journal and get that gratitude page set up again.
Steroids will raise cortisol, which worsens blood sugar metabolism. Have u had your thyroid checked? If ur TSH is above 3 I would ask for Nature-Throid, 1 GR nightly (hopefully a few hours away from calcium or a multi or iron). You might want to avoid broccoli, cauliflower, grapefruits/juice, TAP WATER (fluoride), ANY KIND OF TEA (except herbal teas are ok), any other things that slow the thyroid. Also get the 2 thyroid antibody tests. If those are positive, AVOID ALL GLUTEN and look into Low Dose Naltrexone.
So hope your swallow issue is resolved soon!! I was an Advil user before surgery but had been told to only use Tylenol afterwards. I now have to take a baby aspirin every day so my doctor prescribed Omeprazole as well. Take care!!
I’ve been researching thyroid issues lately, and swallowing problems can be related to that. I have a nodule even though my numbers are “normal!” Did they think of that possibility? Hope you get relief soon!
I'm having some medical issues. I've not been able to swallow. Gone through a million tests. I have new medicine that's helping a little. Just haven't felt like making a video. Thanks for checking in : )
Hi Ter..,I hope things have improved for you since you made this video. I agree with your assessment that it’s a lot of mind mush going on...do not believe your weight loss is done because that is totally up to you and you have been doing a great job so dismiss what that doctor told you and I think you should get a 2nd opinion about your knees. There was a woman in my support group that was much older than you and she was getting VSG so she could lose weight to get her knee replacement surgery, so I find it difficult to believe that doctor. He may be one of those people that don’t agree with WLS and would rather not deal with WLS patients (we know there are medical professionals with adverse opinions to WLS). I think going to the pool is a great idea and maybe you can find a water aerobics class or just do water walking since it’s much easier on your joints. Stay encouraged Friend.
Sorry to hear about the weight gain! But you are doing great and so proactive with buying the swimsuit and talking with a therapist! Good for you!! I do water aerobics and have been very happy with my energy and muscle tone. We all get down sometimes so don’t beat yourself up about the gain. Best of luck!!
All the things you mentioned can mess with your weight loss. 65% of EXCESS weight lost is “industry standard rhetoric! I was a LOUSY WLS patient...and it took me YEARS to get to goal! I’m finally maintaining with no grains keto! Not fun! Protein and limiting carbs is the best way to diminish cravings. You have been so steady and sensible! Many DO surpass the standard goals! I believe you have what it takes to prove to them that YOU are the exception to the rule!
Terri this is just a bump in the road. Don’t stress. Your weight loss is unique and nobody can dictate how much weight you can lose. Can you find a local YMCA and do some swimming? Swimming is my go to Cuz I can’t walk. Hang in there girl.
