Gabriel Communications was started in 1996. Owned and operated by long-time disc jockey, Larry Black, the company specializes in “Reunion Videos.” Black first applied the “Reunion Video” concept to the legends of country music. The idea was simple: Ask the great people who shaped country music to get together and talk about their history, and maybe sing a few songs.
From this idea, Country’s Family Reunion was born. More than 30 country music legends got together for that first taping to tell their stories and sing their songs. The success of this series spurred the creation of more than a dozen more projects featuring hundreds of songs and stories. My heart and soul aches for this music. I grew up in Church of God/Anderson, IN mission, not CoG/Cleveland TN mission. The main difference is the Anderson org doesn’t dance and run around. But the two organizations sing the same songs. These songs touch deep into the heart and fills the soul. Singing songs at church that I’ve never heard before and feeling more like I’m at a concert isn’t touching me the way my spirit needs to be touched.
