Thank you for great summary of radars. Most content out there are really confusing and full of infi yet I think this one made me understand why I was having issues with my radar on F4-S. Yet I still have a question. Time to time (only happened twice) I'm able to lock and send out radar missiles to friendlies when I'm SRC PD(V i guess??) on my F4-S even tho it has IFF on PD(V??) Im really confused about how I'm taking down friendlies with AIM-7F missiles
@@solastrr1795 id you use cursor control instead of cyclic switching you can lock friendlies regardless of whether or not you have iff. If a friendly is nearby the lock can transfer or the radar can lock the friendly. And the big thing with sparrows is that they dont always go for the locked target, basically when you launch one the radar lights up a cone in front of your plane and sometimes that cone lights up a friendly brighter than the actual enemy you have locked. The aim7f is notoriously bad at doing this so you have to make sure to not launch them into cluttered areas, and if you do be ready to unlock when it switches.
@@jaek_898 I mean I legit lost almost a million SL with F4-S lmao. But for the first time I'm hearing someone recommending cursor radar for a plane which makes me bad for my purchase tbh. Yet after the video and with your reply I belive I'll find the center place to get some value out of it.
@@solastrr1795 i'm not recommending cursor control, personally I only use it for TWS at top tier. I think cyclic switching is better BECAUSE it doesn't snap onto friendlies. If youre losing that much money from teamkilling you really need to be more careful with when you fire them and be quicker to unlock your radar if they start doing something questionable
The F1C keeps getting better relative to the other premiums too. The magic buffs really helped it, meanwhile the mig23ml, f104s taf, kfir, f20 have all had some kind of nerf(s) in the past couple months.
Hi i just unlocked the F4E and on my way to the F15, I find this video super helpful and I really appreciate although I have one concern, when I see targets on my radar I try to ''Select target to lock'' so that I can shoot off multiple missles to multiple people but it doesnt let me.. any idea why?
@@brandon-hy2mi active radar homing (fox-3) missiles are the only radar missiles that let you engage multiple targets at the same time. The f-4e's sparrows are semi active radar homing and you can only guide one missiles at a time (onto the locked target)
@@jaek_898 Oh ok thank you, I dont think you really understand what I was asking though, in the section where you were talking about BVR mode and cycling through selected targets, im not able to do that and im wondering how I can fix it
@@jaek_898 I think they should extremely limit the nametag thing in ww2 matches then give the radar planes a proper tracker that will say speed altitude and direction or a very very weak targeting computer
@@Anthony1102www it's only possible in CDK missions. I change the smoke fx line to use, for example, "aerobatics_smoke_blue_cmps_fx". In the past I've also added a sparkle effect, added a tracer tail, etc. But if you're aaking how to do it in normal games, it's not possible.
Fun fact: The air to air missle program was launched by a small team of US Airforce people during terretory disputes between taiwan and china back in the day, this isnt a new thing. Chinas mig 19s kept outrunning the american sabres so they had a reason to develop the aim-9b Shortly after entering service, one aim9b got lodged in a mig-19 without detonating. It landed, the missle was traded to the russians in exchange for a few mig21-Fs (which were redesignated to the J-7) and basically triggered the entire soviet air to air missle program. What remained of the aim9b was reverse engineered into the Wypel K13 R-3, which was produced in IR and Semi active Radar seeker variants. The R3 was given to china, china reverse engineered the R3 into the PL-2. Thats right, chinas first air to air missle was an unlicensed copy of a reverse engineered copy of a damaged aim9-b
Not missile related but radar question : I watch youtube and found some of them have the red square on top of their Radara lock How I can do that if its not a bug and already patch
They definitely need to implement BTT as that will also benefit rolling airframe missiles like the whole issue with manpads rn. Additionally, the CnP AAM3s will finally get their accurate 40g capability and magic 2s will have their maneuverability accurate as well
R530 should technically also have chaff rejection because the 530 and 530F use almost the exact same AD26 monopulse seeker with rate limiter, just the major difference being the compatibility with the Cyrano IV radarset on the 530F seeker. But this wouldnt be relevant for most planes that the R530 is on because they lack PD radar anyway
Another potential "fix" to the AIM-54C would be gaijin unfucking its guidance code. Atm, the 54C has the exact same guidance code as the 54A, while IRL the 54C has a completely new and vastly more advanced guidance section that was specifically made to allow it to follow more complex and optimized trajectories (better loft and energy management in-game), mostly to improve its pK% vs small and maneuvrable targets. This wouldnt make it get to a target faster, but it would allow it to have more energy WHEN it gets to the target, making it significantly more dangerous. The kick in the dick about the Fakour-90 is that not only does it have a much better rocket motor, and better maneuverability, it ALSO got much better guidance code compared to the AIM-54C, cuz fuck TT F-14 players I guess...
Was waiting for your video... good stuff. I Saw Gajin making it 12.7 at first just due to having the R27Rs for head-on(harder to dodge than AIM 7s), now with all these other buffs 12.7 is a guarantee. It was an easily grindable/purchasable vehicle so I feel like newb players poor stats will keep it 12.7 instead of a firm 13.0
The IRIAF F14 should go at least at 13.0. The Fakours are just outclasssing everything at the moment. Like why is this the same Br as the normal F14, which has way weaker missiles. And i didn't even mentioned the IRIAF has access to R27Rs.
@@reinni2968 The Fakour and Sedjil are faster than every other missile in the game. And the R27 has Datalink so can fly without a radar lock. The Aim 7F/M explodes after like 1 second without excellent lock
@@Geevexs 1. Yes, r27 can fly using datalink got 60 seconds...which is completely umneccesary considering you have low range. Ah, I see you obviously havent used any sparrows not even once, sparrows can also go without lock for a bit - its called iog, inertial guidance. Similar to 9m system of how it relies on inertial guidance when it sees flares. I have lost lock on radar but missile has still tracked and killed many times.
i think it would be best to give it its R73s, remove the R27R1 since irl it never worked with the tomcat´s radar, buff the Sedjill (not really, just detail more its seeker, cus irl it could never have been an 7F/M copy or similar, since iran never received its AIM7F and its AIM9Ls because of political reasons, just give it DL (if it had irl) and its okay, i think they added a HMD later, but i suppose it would have been just for the R73s since i find difficult for iran to make russian equipamment work with american Radar set. yes it would be a late variant of the Persian Cat, but still, the Fakour 90 is a missile that only the F14s iran is using today are equipped with, the F14 Early that is shown ingame should have AIM54As only, since the Fakour 90 is only equipped on later variants that iranian sources say that are completely different planes from what they once was. (without any proof off course) but still, if all this were to be added, it would be 13.0 material, even with only 60 CMs edit: fuck it, you could put it on 13.3 and the Fakour spam would still kill a lot of guys.
Aim-54A Block 50, Block 52, and Aim-54C Block 60. The 52 has a smokeless motor. More range and the same everything else. Aim54C has a better seeker. less range smokeless. Yourwelcome for the dumb down explanation I fly dcs tomcats lol
"Discussions about missiles especially regarding their implementation relative to real life performance usually devolve into an Autism contest" has got to be the most accurate way to describe War thunder Forum debates i've ever heard.
Some are, some aren't, they didn't all have the same motor. For example in the irl clip I used later in the video you can see that particular 54C is definitely not smokeless.
The best bvr missile? So all the new active missiles, and aim7f, r27er dont exist? phoenix and fakour have always been piss easy to dodge for the player with an iq of more than 50.
It outranges all of the new medium range ARH missiles by a considerable margin. From a strictly BVR perspective, I do think it's the best when you take that into consideration. Of course the top tier fox3s are more useful in more situations within 20km or so so it's kind of apples to oranges. But they can't do the really long range stuff as well, especially at lower altitudes.
@@jaek_898 I feel like launching missiles outside of 12km is a waste anyway, anyone who isnt braindead will just notch or fly under 60m to be 100% safe.
