Hey there, welcome to my channel. I’m Daniela, an English teacher, pronunciation coach, speaking club host, RU-vidr, and blogger.
In my channel you will find tips about English and foreign language learning, American culture, and motivation that will help you on your way to fluency.
I was born and raised in Bulgaria, but now I live in California. When I arrived in the US, I barely spoke English, so I enrolled in ESL classes. It was there where I fell in love with different languages, accents, and cultures as I met friends from all over the world.
I know that learning a foreign language as an adult might be challenging, but I’m here to show you that it’s 100% possible. And it can (and should) be enjoyable as well.

Hello sister! I like your videos as content because your videos are too informative can I ask you, do you teach English students in 1-1 class I mean on Google meet or Zoom , my asking reason is that because I wanna learn English with you so kindly answer me dear sister! Thank you very much 😊
The more relevant impact I see with this new boom of LLM( Large Language Models) is how the students will potentiate their autonomous learning. A couple of years ago, when you wanted to practice speaking, you had to communicate exclusively with a human. Now this can be more or less circumvented because these IA models are far from perfect. The important thing to know here is that IA models are simply tools. Teachers are always going to be required no matter the area of knowledge. Or at least, that's one of the big arguments of Khan Salman in his book "Brave New Words", which I mentioned in our live conversation.
Thank you for your great video Daniela! You explained very well the aspects of the trouble that some people face when it comes to language acquisition. I'm Bulgarian like you, and now I am learning English. I'm also an engineer, and I have the same problems with learning English as you described in the video. I tried to use complicated words and overthought mistakes, which hindered my progress. Now I try to use simpler words and learn everything in context, and I think this helps me. Your video was great. I've watched a lot of videos on this topic, but yours was very clear and focused.
Thank you so much for your comment. Good for you for ditching the super fancy words. Not that they are bad, but we need to be careful not to overuse them. I'm really glad that you found my video helpful.
please are you English native ? I see you try to learn a lot of languages such polish and your husband is polish you said you talk to him . I'm learning English on my own. and I speak Spanish too .but it's enough for me I do it for pleasure. I'm going step by step and I'm not running I like take time to meditate on what I learned and then try to repeat the words talking to myself .anyway it's a pleasure and not forcing. I'm Richard coming from LYON in france
Hi Richard, thank you for your comment. No, I'm not a native English speaker. My first language is Bulgarian, and my second language is Polish. So, English is my third one. Growing up in Bulgaria, I also had to study Russian at school, but although I understand a lot of it and am able to read it, I only speak a little bit. I also took Spanish in college and I'm planning to go back to it in the future, but right now I am learning Portuguese. Good luck with your learning English. I like it that you are taking it slow and enjoying the journey.
@@LingoAdventure it's nice to have an answer coming from you teacher.i saw you're learning a lot of languages at the same time .I don't know how can you do that ? When I was a child at home my parents had friends who were polish and i remember they were trying to teach me polish words .I like polish but I prefer to learn English it's more helpful for me. My gran parents were Spanish and i grew up hearing Spanish and step by step I began to speak Spanish. It's a difficult language English is more simple .obviously I'm a beginner but I like it . I'm reading the holy scripture in English and at the same time Tristan and iseult. I'm reading in Spanish too and last time I found a Spanish book which title is winter in Mallorca. A good book which had written GEORGE SAND .I like reading and listen to TED TALK life is so wonderful and i spend my time to learn about God too .I think it's important to have a spiritual living only worshipping God by holy scripture is what Jesus said to us .I love communicate thank you for your answer I appreciated your message. Hi, Daniela! Greetings from a delightfully cool São Paulo, Brazil! First off, I'm so glad that I've found your RU-vid channel. So much so that I've subscribed to it and have also hit the bell notification so I won't miss out on any of your new videos as they're uploaded here. Well, as for this shorts video, I must confess that I didn't know that 'though' could be used in both positive and negative sentences until I watched it. Thanks so much for teaching me something new today. On a side note, I hope you're enjoying your long 4th of July holiday weekend. Hope you, your family and loved ones get some rest and have a good time over the long weekend. Please keep it up, stay well and have a good one! Bye!
Hi. Thank you for liking my content and subscribing to my channel. I'm really glad you find it helpful. "Though" is tricky word and many people find it confusing, so I'm happy to help. I hope you watched the long video as well because I have many more examples in it. Obrigada.
Hi, i would say that the line between b2 and c1 is very thin, however you should immerse into the culture more (like reading, watching documentaries) or if possible travel to the countires where this language is spoken. Speaking should be the main focus!
Honestly, I wouldn't focus so much on these levels. B2, C1...I know some people need to pass very speciffic tests if they want to enter a particular university, but otherwise such levels descriptions are not that helpful. Just learn something new every day. Pay attention, listen, read, watch content that you like. We always learn something when we enjoy it. And if you are B2, you already know a lot. Celebrate it and keep going.
Thank You, Daniela, for your video. It was timely for me, since I deeply jumped into other language and now, after your video, going back somethimes to English. With best regards, Igor
Thank you, dear Daniela, for your personal story. I absolutely agree with you about finding our own way. In most cases such problem as perfecsionism is a red line to continue study language. Greatful, Igor
Thank you for your thoughs, Daniela. I think that I always will sound like someone who don't speak English as a native. I'll be fine if I can be understood but that does not mean that I won't keep trying to get better with my pronunciation every day.
You don't have to sound like a native to be a successful and confident communicator. Reaching a native-like level is different from losing your accent completely. It's more about your overall fluency, confidence, body language, and how you make your conversation partners feel. It's also about intonation, and understanding local expressions and culture. This could be a lot of work, but it's definitely achievable.
First of all, no language is learnt by listening, rather your dilemma is solved by asking about it, no language can be learnt by listening, in childhood we used to ask our parents why is it so, our parents used to answer this, every language is learnt by listening, we do not learn it by asking anyone, I have to ask, I have to ask again and again, if a RU-vidr does not answer you, then that RU-vidr makes videos for his own popularity, not to teach.
See, to speak English it is not necessary to listen but it is necessary to ask what you have heard, what is the meaning of what was said, It is superstitious to say that one will learn to speak English by watching TV shows, news, if this were the case then anyone could also speak Spanish, French, Italian, Russian, listen to the language and ask any youtuber repeatedly what is its meaning in my language, what do they say with this, then you will understand, second option You can easily learn the language by going to the country where it is spoken. It is necessary to become a child in order to learn, In my opinion, there is an American channel named Rachel English which can help you and in India, Dharmesh Sir's DSL English channel can help you, from my view, But it is necessary that you ask repeatedly the channel you are watching what is its meaning in my language, explain to me how this word came here, this will increase your intelligence.
What you say is right but when I talk about it I don't remember the context, what will I say in it, how will I say it, I don't know from my mouth, from whom I can learn it
Yes, you are right. When you are trying to communicate something, it's hard to think about all of the sounds. That's why I used to train my pronunciation separately, and not when I was in a real conversation. If you are working on your pronunciation, try to learn the sounds and shadow/imitate (if you find this method helpful) when you are alone and not talking to another person. Unless you are working with a coach.
