Y'alright am ya? I’m Joe, very much and Average Joe, but I hope to show everyone that Average Can Be Extraordinary!
I’m of the mindset that anyone and everyone can make stuff, you don’t need to be an expert by any means. I make all kinds of projects, if I get an idea in my head I wont rest until I make it a reality. I share what I get up to here, from full step by step projects to product reviews and quick tips.
I hope you all follow along with my journey and are inspired to give making stuff a go for yourselves.
I purchased a computer desk online made of MDF boards, and it appears to have a paper type of wallpaper over it. Can I seal this with an acrylic sealer? What can I do to preserve this wood?
Bought one today for £60.00 second hand, the seller clearly didn't use it, as it hasn't got any marks or scratches on it, it looks brand new, total bargain!! Struggled to set it up though, as the instruction manual was more than useless. This video was a great help. 👍👍
Excellent demonstration video Joe, nice one, even if a few years ago!… 👍🏻 I have been tasked with similarly mounting some of SWMBO’s photo prints, so this has been very helpful, thank you… 👏🏻
If I may make a suggestion, it would be better and more cost-effective if the MDF coating used a mixture of gypsum powder and wood glue diluted/mixed with water (ratio 100:25)
I'd love to have the same equipment. working with proper tools makes I huge difference I reckon. Today I made a tiny shelf for my midi keyboard that rolls out from under the desktop, but I made it all using shitty and rusty tools, it's not really fun, I spent half the day. I think I'll just bite the bullet and buy some proper drills, and whatnot. A nice video btw. Very aesthetically pleasing. Cheers
from my expereince I found only 2 methods that give best result -car body filler is the smoothest and can fill all wood grain in one go but it takes practice to apply it so you won't make way too thick layer that gonna cause you trouble when sanding it. -acrylic primer , its easier to apply but requires multiple time to be put on surface until it fully fill the grain since it need multiple coat so it takes longer time until the surface is ready for actual paint.
Helpful video! Thanks. I just made a sledge to plane down using my router but it took 30mins to do one board! At least I didn't get snipe though. Food for thought!
Just about to grab one that's popped up on Facebook marketplace locally for 70 squids. Selling due to upgrade. As long as it works, it's a no brainer at that price.
It's a great router but the depth stop isn't great. It can actually spin itself down the thread, i don't trust it, it's already done a deep gouge on me because of it.
