Volume 9 intro is very context heavy compared to other intros, so it's no surprise that it's in last place. I enjoyed it a lot personally, and once I finished the volume and re-watched the intro, it became my #1 favorite where all the pieces fall into place.
James Cameron is a famous director. He made "Titanic" and "Avatar" Dung beetle is a type of beetle that rolls up balls of poop (dung is another word for poop). Mahi-mahi is a type of fish. Benihana is a restaurant where they cook stuff on a flat top grill in front of you.
I had never noticed it before until maybe a month ago, but I don't think that was Qrow... I think it may have been Raven. If you go back the bird had Red Eyes, and I believe I have never seen Qrow have those colored eyes when he is in bird form. I wonder if she has been watching out for them the same way she used to watch out for Yang in secret.
The Rio Grimm got me, and shows that Salem has been preparing a good while to attack Atlas. When she visited the god of darkness to resurrect Ozma, the god resided in a large reservoir of Grimm goo, but when we first see the domain or darkness, there are just a few pools spawning Grimm. I thought it was used up, but Salem had already relocated it above Mantle for when she got around to making her finishing assault.
4:49 This is literally the first time in the entire show where Ruby and Blake have had a conversation between just the two of them, and it's in Volume 8 (There was a 3 or 4 second long conversation when they settle in the farm house in Volume 6 during the blizzard, but I don't think that counts since them talking was interrupted by Weiss screaming and everyone running to help)
For those who don't know: In Volumes 1 and 2, Ren's voice actor was Monty Oum. Monty was the one who came up with the idea for this show, but Monty died before Volume 3. After Monty's death, his brother (Neath Oum) became Ren's voice actor. That's Neath Oum talking when Ren says "No one is replaceable!", and hearing that makes me tear up every time I hear it
10:54 Yes, the hound is searching for Penny. Penny’s “blood” is all over the others though. This means her scent on the other characters was distracting to the grimm.
Not just distracting. If you notice, The Hound, at least the Grimm part of them, has no eyes. It's relying on scent alone. So whatever the closest scent of Penny was is where it went to, until it heard Penny's scream and could also go off sound.
3:57 I think it's more of the abusive father being absent that's allowing him to be a normal person for a change. Same thing with the mom wanting to protect her kids at 9:52.
I do think that slight nod between Mercury and Emerald right before Mercury leaves for Vacuo with Tyrian was Mercury saying to Emerald like "oh shit you were right" and for her to look after herself. They do fight all the time but I somehow think they are still somewhat friends in a way.
I personally see them as caring about each other beyond friends, probably as either a family bond between siblings, or a possibly romantic bond if they both make it to the end of the show alive
In case you did not know already or did not figure it out from this chapter, Cinder's character is based off of Cinderella. That was the evil step mom and the two evil step sisters. Also in this episode, you can again see how smart Salem is. As she is torturing Cinder for disobeying her, you can see Cinder having flashbacks from the evil step mom shocking her with the necklace. Then it flashes to her thinking of the moment when she killed the person doing that to her. Now of course Cinder cannot kill Salem, but Salem still needs her and I believe she saw she was getting Cinder to her limit to where she might try and stop working with Salem. So Salem changes her tone and lets Cinder do what she wants, therefor keeping her under her thumb.

3:36 Tyrian would win against Neo, he has more experience, speed, strength.. and almost took on Crow, Clover and Robin together. (not downplaying Neo tho, she is crazy strong)
There's a theory that 'Bill' (the guy with the coffee getting yelled at) is Velvet's father. We know from the books that her father's name is William (which Bill could be short for), and he's a scientist working in Atlas. It's likely not true, but it's funny to think about.
