True light and nylon or pebax fibered plates make a slight difference, but really it comes down to David’s unconventional wisdom when it comes to macronutrient choices( 120 carbs an hour) and specifically targeting watts per hour or functional threshold power which is typically only Used in the cycling world. Not the running world. And of course he’s been an endurance athlete for years. But I really Think we’re gonna see a shift in how runners fuel and more course records will fall. Great video as well. Keep it up
Hello, You missed the most beautiful place in this town. It's around Paloma beach on the rignt ;-) It's also ma favorite place in the World ans I travelled a lot. Thanks for your video. Hello from Belgium!
@@runningforviews you mean the second real aid station ;) www.sierre-zinal.com/en/stations-387.html and yes this year the race was quite special here in Zinal.
@@runningforviewsyeah that race brought back fond memories…10 yrs ago this month I raced Trofeo Kima and being a runner from Australia which is basically void of ‘real’ mountains it was the highlight of my running life, I ran in the same race as many legendary runners and bagged 19th… sorry to boast but I’m just a surfer from Oz so I was stoked to say the least. Please cover that race to- it’s the jewel in the crown of skyrunning. Cheers
@@clarkemcclymont2879 wow I’ve never heard of that race but it looks incredible! Looks like Kilian set the course record here back in 2018. Congrats to you! Sounds like you should have stuck with the Skyrunning!
@@runningforviewsyeah check it out- it’s the ultimate sky run, maybe you could do an episode on it, it’s extreme to say the least… the first climb starts at 900m and climbs to 3000m then seven mountain passes, helmets are optional-true.
@@runningforviewsYOU HAVE TO CONSIDER THAT THIS WAS HIS FIRST TIME FOR JIM IN THIS RACE WITH KILIAN. BUT JIM HAS THE RECORD FOR UTMB SINCE HE MOVED TO FRANCE WITH 19:37:43
@@varguita73 true! But I think kilians downhill speed might be able to hold off Jim but I guess we’ll have to wait and see if they race it together again some day!
Just decided today to train for a 50Km trail run. Only 9 weeks left. Overweigth, around 110Kg. Done it 2 years ago. Any advices would be welcome. Thanks
You got this! You're muscle memory is better than you think! Just focus on getting some back-to-back long runs in and you'll be ready come race day. Good luck!
What about Sally McRae? Did she win 3, 200 mile races in one year or something like that? I think that deserves at least a mention but I don't know a whole lot about the sport.
Hoka cheaped out on the Speedgoat 5 and 6 by switching away from Ortholite insoles. This is one way they cut weight and likely save considerable $$$ per shoe. I stopped wearing Hoka's when they switched away from the Ortholite insole. Sure, Hoka's EVA Foam is pretty squishy, but the new insoles are garbage compared to an Ortholite. I'd rather buy a cheaper shoe and put an insole in it.
This is really interesting. I tried on the Speedgoat 5 in a shoe store when it was a fresh release. Felt really narrow on my foot. Didn't work at all for me. I have run in Hoka Stinson for a few years but last year switched to Asics Trabuco Max 2 and now onto the 3. Such a difference. I also lost toe nails in Hokas. Not sure why, just assumed it was "part of running" and ignored my gnarly looking feet. Regarding your comment about foot damage, I think if a shoe makes your feet hurt and/or bleed, pretty sure you should try something else. After switching to Asics, no such issues. I have all my toenails back! So much more comfortable overall. Also own Brooks Caldera 6 but found them a little too firm. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the SGs!
@@solebrother9620 haha I run in Asics Novablast 3 on the road and love them! Was thinking about switching over to them on the trails but the stack height is a little too high on the Novablast trail adjacent shoes. Do you run on really technical trails?
I really want to watch your content but unfortunately the intro is so annoying I have stopped watching numerous times before I get started. Please tone it down and I promise to keep trying as I'm sure you do a great job as the topics seem interesting.
@@aaronaa8168 nah, I’m sick of all these boring running channels. If you want toned down boring people there’s plenty of content out there for you. And if the intro bothers you that much, just skip it lol.
Who else has tried out the Hoka Speedgoat 6's? Are you thinking about getting yourself a pair? Let me know what you think of them! Thanks for watching!
Love all your videos! Make sure you give credit to the hard work of Steve House and Scott Johnston as well! I understand the need for a nice eye catching title, but maybe put their names in the description instead of just by Kilian? Keep up the hard work!
Did not expect to see a sprint for second on the track! Rod did such a good job of keeping up with, and passing back forth with, Jim, but Jim’s going to Jim! What amazing performances all around. Crazy how so many performances here would have dominated even just 10 years ago! It’s becoming such a stacked race.
