So is it a known factory bike or some secret bs? rule is stupid regardless..... Also dont believe this kids story. its clearly to start shit....drama fest
It’s a stupid rule. They should allow just a tech inspection. This can make manufacturers pull some support for these types of races if some random can buy their factory bike. That being said I would also buy that bike if I could lol
F Yamaha. I won’t be being yamaha after this. Why mess with this young boys career when deegan already has one and has all the sponsorships he needs this is beyond ridiculous it’s in the rules you signed up too
I understand the rule but it's stupid if it can't be enforced. The AMA should have mandatory teardowns to check these bikes out. And I understand this kid's got to be careful what he says because it will affect his career but I can say it without any repercussions... 100% No Doubt that motor was illegal and shouldn't be running in an amateur class. Call it cheating unfair advantage or whatever you want but it proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that Yamaha didn't want anybody to have that motorcycle. And to go through all that to threaten a 17 year old kid who is well within the rule book to do what he did and do what any Motocross rider would want to do... to ride a factory bike... makes it obvious that Yamaha was trying to hide something. I have a Yamaha Seca 550, FJ 1100 and a 700 Raptor and have owned two of their three-wheelers. A Tri Z 250 and a Tri motor 225 DX. Lost a lot of respect for the company after hearing about this.
I know from Bill West , Rick Burgett's factory Yamaha mechanic from 1978 's championship #1 that motor's are totally different than what we buy from the dealers stock.
The rider of the claimed bike is allowed to finish his motos. The bike is impounded with AMA and the rider is allowed to work on bike before his motos with AMA watching over the mechanic
WOW !.....they're definately up to no good !....if they weren't trying to hide something, they shouldn't have any problem with this deal ....shysters .
I am with Deegans on this one. What a stupid rule. It proves money can buy happiness. How many man hours went unpaid for. Schofield need to work harder at riding skills and one day he might be entitled to a factory bike.
Claiming is generally used in spec class or limited class racing, where there are major rules about modifications to keep cost down. The question I have is why is Deegan even riding in a class that has that option? They have no issues with funding and sponsorship money, and will always have the best of the best. If you’re running against him you know that he does have the best available and if there is a claim rule, it’s the easiest way to get ahold of the best equipment available without having the name, talent or money. Also, for those that don’t know in most cases of where a claim can be made, the owner of the claimed does have the option to refuse the claim, however, that will ban them from running in that class/series ever again, at least in every class I’ve been in where a claim option is there, that is how it was. If Deegan never planned on running in that class again, so be it, he might have been able to refuse the claim and be on his way. If this particular case is where they have no option to refuse, then this can actually say something about the morals of Deegan, but, if they can, you would too and you know it if it was an option.
The league responsible for this travesty should absolutely be boycotted! Why would anyone support a system that has rules that are completely meaningless, whenever they feel like changing them?
I wonder how many people actually don’t purchase a Yamaha now because of how bad the company made itself look?!?! I love you Yamaha, but this was such a bad look I will have a very hard time buying my next bike from them. I just can’t support crap like that.
Completely BS, AMA should have secured the bike in a suspended state in impound and told Yamaha to kiss off. So I’ve had guys who went to Loretta’s with billet engine cases under 400 piece production and not been able to race due to that stipulation. Clearly the Yamaha bike mentioned here would also have been denied entry with that regulation too. Sorry @ Brennan, you got screwed.
Deegan never rebelled against the machine, his ass saw a move to ACT and make money.. why you think noone mm deal wit them ? Shit was for the money. And now baby deegan cant win on his own so daddys money
I learned as a teenager, deegan was a phony. My man spoiled Brat status. And im talkin bout Brian. His ass used to be whinin sooo much he sucked at races then he was freestyle ridin which was hittin metal ramps.. used to trash pastrana, when pastrana got it out the mud and stayed on the Gas.. pastrana comes to xgames swamps deegan.. deegan says pastrana a sell out LOL long story long dude and his family is wack. Sad but true
They admitted they were cheating. I own a lot of Yamaha stuff but that thing with the dealership was absolutely vile. I think I might just be done with them.
Not sure why Brian would care. Those bikes are like cheap socks to him. How many bikes has he and his family destroyed in the name of fun? If you believe in your kid and their ability to ride a bike, who cares? Build a fresh bike. What kid doesn't want a new bike? Back to the belief in your kid, they can win on a new identical build just as easy. If you are knowingly breaking the rules and have the proof hidden in motor, its eventually going to come out so take your medicine and learn to win legally. Hollow victories aren't any fun anyway. After listening to the whole story, I say screw it. Double down, take the bike home and reverse engineer it just to sell the "secrets" at 50% off star prices. Two can play the, let em hang game.
A thing people have been doing in motorsports lately is adding nitro to the crankcase... bet this was one of those things. "Mecahnic would change the oil and check for metal" changing the oil would get rid of the nitrp
When all those folks started getting involved you knew something was foul. I changed my mind. They were cheating. I'm so angry with the kid for giving up. I bet once you had the bike they either wanted it quiet or paid you much much more not to have it.
I am Canadian and feel for the kid, but you can’t just say you want to claim a bike because you want to ride a pro dirtbike and I can’t believe what I’m hearing on both sides but you can’t just go claim somebody’s bike. That rule should be taken out of the rules because you wanted to Ride a pro bike. Wow wow why is Aimee not checking these fucking bikes and sealing the engine cases❓❓❓❓❓❓
So long story short, people cheat! My cousin ran late model dirt cars, he claimed a supposed 15 to 20k motor turned out to be a professionally built 65k Hendricks.. thats why they have these rules in place! Its an unfair advantage! Tec guys should do a better job monitoring the racers.
U people need yo grow some balls . He was using a illegal bike . It's the rules , enough said. It doesn't freaking matter what he planned on doing with it. It's in the rules !!!!! Every team should have planned on this . They should have said u want to ride one come to our track any time and ride it. He said he wanted ride it and that. Was it . I think if it wasn't deegans bike, no one would even bother with talking about this . Brian is a big wine azz . Cornering that kid in a room for 20 min . If I was his father I would have been cracking some skulls. If Deegan is that good it shouldn't matter what bike he rides. I can ride a 125 and smoke 250's and 450's . Don't ride it if u don't want it claimed.
