Good video and nice explanation ! I'm new to pro tools and I came from Logic so there is an easy short cut for rename tracks the same like the clips but I think this isn't a way in pro tools so far.

Can you talk about how you can have one audio track as a priority track (I guess it’s called), and then have all different takes beneath that as you have explained here. And then you can choose bits and parts of these takes and push a button and it goes directly up to the priority track and gets insert in the time when it was taken. I truly hope you understand what I mean. It’s really hard to explain I think.

One of the best investments to become even faster with this is a Stream Deck. No need to memorize the shortcuts, and you could even stack some within one press of a button. Also, the ProTools Control App has some of these shortcuts as well and is free. Thanks for the video!

Hey Adam Hay Marcela. Thanks for the vid! Can anyone shed on any light about Facebook Workstation Spatialiser? I believe this has now actually been discontinued? Is this true? Any idea if and when a version for Logic Pro might be released? Is it even possible to download a version for Protools now? Thanks!

Best answer: if you can afford to have it whether it makes money or not… Say you are financially at a place where you can rent a small commercial space and still afford all your other bills… sure build out your dream studio… If not… don’t do it… You will have impending doom hovering over you each month and will result to working on projects you don’t even wanna do just to pay the rent. Miserable existence type shit. Home studio anyone can do with no risk.

Hi Adam, Thanks for the video. Would you know how do I rename all CLIPs with the TRACK names I've Changed. I've imported audios with complicated names and changed the TRACK NAMES, however, the CLIP names remains the same. Is there some how to do it all at once? I've learned to do so in logic pro (Shift+comand+N or "c" don't remember exactly).

I don't know what a playlist is wish you would have explained it to me. BTW I have taken 4 semesters of protools education and playlists were never spoken of.
@HubLocationSound

A playlist is a sub-Track (or think of it as virtual layers of audio) within a Track. So for example if you’re recording 5 takes of a vocal, you can do that using one Track, by creating a new playlist for each vocal pass. Each take or “playlist” can be viewed by choosing that Tracks ‘playlist’ view (right click on track name). From there you can audition each playlist and ‘comp’ a vocal take (ie. Choose the best phrases from your 5 takes and ‘promote’ them UP to the Main playlist (Top layer). 3:38

I started working with newer clients that punch in and want to take the best of each take. I'm used to clients that usually do things in one take or do whole takes, so this saved my tail for making the most of studio time. Thanks!

Hi Adam - thanks for this. Great vid! I see you said that you can route the audio into a DAW so you can record and edit on the fly as if you were both in the same studio. Can you give me any pointers how to do this? I use adobe audition... Thanks in advance!

@jimittenbach

You made a comment in this video that got me thinking about an issue I experience frequently. I play flute but I play with a somewhat aggressive approach that includes overblowing and humming/singing while I am playing the flute. This causes a less dramatic but still annoying plosive. When you said the plosive was caused by the breathe pushing the diaphragm of the mic it made me think this is what I am experiencing too. Many times people tell me they don't hear what I am talking about but I think it is they don't know what it is supposed to sound like. Any way, do you have any advice on recording techniques that might help control this a bit; such as type of mic, distance from mic, etc. ?

Hi Adam, thanks for the video. Can the client record the session from their end? So I start a session, they join, they record, we hang up, done? Or do I have to record on my end and then send to them?

How would you go about snapping the entire song to grid or specific bar. My entire song is not on the grid anymore and I need to redo some virtual drums. I’ve grouped all the audio in the song and now I need to snap the first audio drum hit to the grid along with the entire song(grouped)

SUPER helpful man, thank you so much for that! i have to spend so much BACK and FORTH time on my chorus's trying to get them to sound the same and i often find that i really enjoy the way i process 1 particular chorus but when chorus 2 or 3 get loaded in- like you said its kind of clunky and does NOT process the audio the same EVEN THO ITS LITERALLY COPIED AND PASTED IN PRO TOOLS (which i dont really understand WHY it would process differently, but it does!) NOW i can make all my chorus's feel the same (not in a boring way, but i work hard to create a special melody that hooks the listener in and i want them to have that same delicious vibe each time!). thanks again bro! and also thanks for keeping it quick and short! back to work!!!
