Hi! I'm Patrick, a passionate videographer & amateur endurance athlete, on a journey to inspire and help others enhance their lives through movement, endurance sports, healthy lifestyle choices, mindfulness and connecting to nature.
My goal with this channel is to provide actionable strategies and tools to help you reach your goals faster, be it an Ironman 70.3 or an ultramarathon, and embody your fullest potential, in sports and in life.
So we’ve connected back-and-forth here on RU-vid and Strava so you know I think the world of your videos your journey and your efforts so no disrespect intended, but it is interesting. The power of these round numbers so to speak. Because getting sub 10 is phenomenal, but you could’ve raced at Lake Placid instead and given the difficulty of the course finished it 1005 which again would’ve been an amazing accomplishment but yet “failed”because it wasn’t sub 10. Just intricacies of human psychology.
@PatrickDelorenzi I wish I'd found it sooner as its only a week away now! I'm not going for sub 10 for this one but watching this kind of wants to make me give it a go 🤔
Have my first tri in a couple of weeks. I am here (for the 100th time, I believe half of the views are mine) to take notes & inspiration on the eating. Your videos are always golden Patrick!! (Btw for me, oats + beans + frozen vegs is the perfect dinner) Keep it up and I'm sure I'll come back here before my Ironman 70.3 and Full!
Hey Patrick, thanks for the amazing review! I'm SO torn between this and the Checkpoint ALR 5 Driftless. Mind chipping in with some words? The checkpoint is way cheaper, but I want the absolute best out of the two, can't decide... Also noticed the crux didn't have fender support, or am I missing something? Cheers!
I also agree with this approach to strength training performed with many repetitions at low load (despite the fact that we always only talk about Maximum Strength). Nils Ven Der Poel in his “Manifesto” (which I recommend you read is a free pdf) performs 10/15 minutes of free body split squat
🎯 Key points for quick navigation: 00:28 *🏋️♂️ Implementing a solid strength routine helps develop leg strength, core stability, and prevents injuries even with once or twice weekly sessions.* 01:39 *🦵 Split squats are crucial for targeting leg strength, focusing on each leg individually to identify and address weaknesses.* 02:47 *📦 Box steps enhance leg strength, particularly beneficial for trail running, using simple equipment like park benches or gym boxes.* 03:45 *🧳 Farmer carries improve total body strength and stability by walking with weights, benefiting legs, core, and arm muscles.* 04:40 *🏋️♂️ Single-legged deadlifts engage glutes and core effectively, promoting stability and strength in those areas.* 06:58 *🦶 Ankle exercises using resistance bands improve ankle strength crucial for injury prevention, especially beneficial for trail runners and those with previous ankle injuries.* 07:54 *🏃♂️ Core exercises like planks and mountain climbers strengthen core stability, essential for endurance sports like running and cycling.* 09:18 *🏋️♂️ Instability exercises, like single-leg shoulder presses, enhance core engagement, mimicking the demands of running and improving overall stability.* Made with HARPA AI
Haven’t you ever been interested in trying a low carb high fat diet? Many triathletes try it especially during periods of basic training away from competitions
no not really, i have never really seen any strong athletes do it apart from the Dan Plews camp. Normal diet rich in carbs and proteins works great for me
is there enough space to accommodate a large computer such as the Garmin Edge 1050 with the independent (standard) handlebar mount? I plan on mounting in the lower bolts position. Thanks.
@@PatrickDelorenzi Thanks. - 2.4" x 4.7" x 0.6" (60.2 x 118.5 x 16.3 mm). Also, another website states that, "the new quarter-mount location - which is roughly 10mm further forward than before"
Hey dog thanks for answering the off road question. I ruined the 1 inch sensor 360 camera fell off handle bars. The clamps suck. Fix that bottom bracket lol😅
Hi! Sorry but I have no experience with disc wheels in general… just on feel I think a disc wheel could be an option, quite a few people were running them. The fact is every uphill has an equal downhill so the weight penalty evens out (depending on how hard and how many risks you are willing to take on the downhills) Have a great race!
Excellent video, I could relate so much to your story. I feel like complete abstinence is the only way for me. I can do moderation for a while, but im in no doubts thst at some stage I will slip up and it will be costly.
@@sonofthenorth it can be the same as the app gives you the opportunity to export 4K at I think 150mbps which is a lot! Video quality is super crisp in my opinion Keep the lenses and the lens guards clean 🧽
It's a pita to reframe and get into another video editor, and you can't get 4K quality reframed into a flat video. 360 cams are great to get shots you can't get any other way, but if you can use a normal action cam you should.
@CraigMartinNB not true, you can get 4K reframed flat video, all the shots in this video are 4K 200mbps I agree it takes a bit of time to edit the clips
I'm 53 got covid in February and still have pericarditis/myocarditis. Pain still there. Taking 8 pills, blood thinners, etc...I'm scared it might never go away. 😢
Great recap of features and upgrades. Are you certain about 3:08 "post-production. . . Add in some motion to shots. . . " I cannot find that feature in the menu, where should I look? (and some others say that they cut that feature, present on the earlier Go3.)
I had a HUUB aegis 3 and really liked it. Don’t know specifically about the archimedes but in general my perception of huub is it’s a solid brand that makes solid products. Only thing to mention is my aegis after a while started having some cracks and damages on the rear part of the armpit
It has been a wild ride. I am 58 and quit drinking 2 years ago. I have been drinking since i was 13 and every bad decision i have made has had booze involved. I feel like I'm 15 again..before drinking started to become a real part of my life. I feel a weird link back to the girl who had interests besides drinking, boys and partying...it took a lot of my joy but i have it back now and intend on keeping it
Noticed that your camera is diagonal. Is that ok or does it need to be completely horizontal? I have the same issue and thinking of returning it as I can’t fix it horizontal.
I bought the third person mount but it didn't fit with garmin at the same time. I had another aero garmin mount also it didn't fit with that. Actually I don't know how to solve that problem
the follow shots from the back, is that using the official seat tube mount for the selfie stick? is that as high as the angle will go? i'd like to do mainly follow footage but would prefer to see more of the road in front, as if the camera was just behind and aboive me. i'd like to avoid having the camera directly overhead and getting distorted footage
You only one tool and that is the pull boy. I started to swim at the age of 45. Now I swim along side of professionals and I don’t think anyone can tell the difference.
Thanks Patrick. Really helpful insights - I just quit a swim with cold and only found out about the diuresis from you - it's godawful. Can't believe you just kept going. Respect :)
I am here exactly a year since my pledge in your comments below. Unfortunately I fell off the wagon and back into binge drinking after a 3 month break. Bad experiences started piling up, some really bad ones that endangered me and others. I decided to moderate my drinking down to 4 drinks max a day. It half worked for the first half of this year with some exceptions but slowly I started messing up more and more until 2 weeks ago I finally realized I couldn't do it anymore. I decided 10 days ago to stop drinking for good. The difference this time is Im not telling people Im on a break, Im telling them I dont drink. I am also working on filling the free time I now have with healthy activities and pastimes. I, like you, am a shy kid who chose to shut up his emotions with alcohol. That began aged 14. I am now 41.
I separated my shoulder 8 weeks before Ironman Copenhagen this year. My doctor told me he believed I could do it. H said wait as long as you can before swimming, I didn't swim the whole distance until 2 weeks before the race. I lost about a month of training in the most important block of it all. At my last visit the doctor said, "What time are you going for?" I started to answer with some numbers and excuses and he said, "You might want to change that to 'I want to finish'." Finish I did and happy I was with the time I got.
Great job bro 👏 First one is all about that finish line - after that so many things become more clear about what we need to work on, and how much more potential improvements we can make Congratulations on your finish!!
Hamburg will be my first Ironman because in addition to liking the course, many people preferred it to Cervia for: 1. Presence of a partying public 2. More “simple” swimming path 3. Better training performed in winter/spring rather in June/August for Cervia 4. The coolest medal 🤣 What do you say to me Patrick?
Hi! Hamburg is flatter and the atmosphere on the run is fucking epic Cervia I have only done the 70.3, the swim conditions can be a bit more of an unknown as it is in the sea, bike has one sharp steep hill in the middle, run is also very good 👍 As far as moment of the season, Hamburg can be very tough to train for as it’s winter in Europe while you are preparing so no outside rides etc, whereas Cervia is so much easier to prep for since all the build is done when it’s warm and nice to run/ride outside Hamburg is my choice for the prestige of the event, competition, and overall atmosphere which really felt like a huge event (like a marathon major) with the whole city coming out to cheer
@@PatrickDelorenzi Wow the Words I wanted to hear! For the weather it’s not a problem..I live between Puglia and Greece in the spring so it’s a pleasure to train and swim in the sea with 19 degrees of water.. paradoxically it’s worse for me to train in July in summer with 40 degrees..so it would be harder to prepare Cervia. I was talking about memories and feelings.. Cervia seems to me “harder” to finish if you find a hot day
