They would have simply replaced the other voice actress' performance with ScarJo if she'd said yes, and just bite the cost. It would have been worth it for them. Impressionism is not illegal, never has been. The whole thing is ridiculous; ScarJo needs to get over herself. OpenAI didn't do anything illegal at all.
You failed to mentioned that Sam A. tweeted "HER" just prior to release. 99 percent people would be lead to believe OpenAI was releasing the voice from "HER" in their updated model. Also, if OpenAI mentioned they had no intentions for the SKY voice to be similar to Johansson, then why tweet "HER" as a reference? My take is they MIXED 2 voices during the training. Maybe 80 percent of a near-like Johansson voice but use 20 percent without permission. If it was 100 percent a different actor doing SKY, there is no reason for them to take that voice down. But they did. So I feel OpenAI is not as innocent as they claim to be.
Exactly! I totally forgot to mention that. The statement could be seen as them thinking they were going to have her voice, and then not at the last moment.
@josh.mountain For real, Copy paste is bad but just learning from isn't the same, ie, if I saw famous cooking show, learned from that and started making my own dishes, they wouldn't sue, I think the problem is perceived effort, because the AI didn't "Work for it" thy think it's unfair
Josh do think will we ever get powerful enuf gpus that anyone will have their own ai model wer anyone is then free to do watever..coz 1nm limit is just 2 years..or will ai be stuck to supercomputers only?
I think every major technical development made in the last 50 years has started as being restricted to a few, and then been distributed to consumers eventually. I think it will take time, but anyone could have their own AI model.
with due respect. it's like asking somebody (Fred) to use their voice, he say "no" and you ask his twin (George) who says Yes. unless you direcly claim that you used Fred's voice... he has no claim about you using George's voice just because they sound similar. while I love scarlett... my dear, if you can't prove beyond reasonable doubt that Open AI used your voice or claimed to use your voice, you have no saying in how their AI sounds. did they intentionally seek somebody with a similar voice? that's neither illegal nor unethical. you don't own the voice of whoever they used nor you have any saying on who they can choose. just think about this. what would happen if the woman whose voice used decides to become an actress too? will Johansen complain too and demand that they change the voice of that actress so it doesn't sound like her? that's absurd. I'm not an expert in how AI voices work but... what would happen if they got a random voice but tinquered with it to make it more pleasant and just by sheer coincidence it ended sounding something like Johansen? they didn't use her voice nor a lookalike. they just randomly edited a random voice and it happened that it ended sounding like Johansen because they like her voice. Scarlett can only complain if she has solid proof that they stole her voice or that they claimed to use her voice. something that "sounds similar to" shouldn't be acceptable in court.
It seems pretty cool so far. A completely hands-free cell phone experience would be good, and they also need to speed up the reaction time significantly so that there is no "loading" and the voice comes out as soon as the text does. It should be like the promotion demonstrations of GPT-4o. After that's done, then it will be really good.
OMG an italien who pronounces the basic word of the Italian language “amore” which means “love” with wrong emphasis saying “Amore” instead of “amOre” , thanks I’ve seen and heard enough.
Great Video! Your way of speaking sounds really professional, it is a little similar to Luke Miani imo. Many channels, even up to a 100k, don’t have such a natural and engaging voice when recording a video. However you could improve, if you start to vary your animations a little, for example in the first 90 seconds, you only scrolled (fast) through the website. Maybe add some parts of the WWDC footage there. I would also recommend you to put an animation with higher pacing (just like the one at around 1:40) in the beginning of your video to catch the viewers attention and improve your watch time.
Respectfully, Its a public platform, You have to deal with that, many people are negative with AI products, and currently AI is not that advanced, it cant do basic tasks, or do things without having to learn about it, it doesn't have retained knowledge and people have the right to have an opinion, and "Moral Obligation" theres no moral obligation, they can whatever they want, you can just not watch it ya know
It is very nice, but I honestly see NO POINT in paying more than GPT 4o on an app that uses exactly that but does not do half of what GPT itself does. I honestly feel like GPT 4o with a little context added is just as good and way more versatile =P But alas, it is a cool app!
I was wondering if I can upload multiple pdfs for one chat . I don't have to upload then at once. I can upload them one at a time. I understand that sometimes there is a upload size limit. But I want to have a chat where the GPT is able to reference multiple pdfs at once along with referencing it's own training knowledge and web search. So I can have one chat about one topic. A topic can have multiple pdfs, as in multiple modules and reference materials combined.
Been On this app for a minute actually super useful, really makes you realise how often you go onto Instagram or apps like that just to get a hit of dopamine. Another useful one for reducing phone use in general was turning the whole screen to black and white.
Teacher AI is really good, no two ways about it. But it still needs fine tuning and debugging after many weeks of attempts to make it work at its full functionality. If it is that hard to clean your current app replace it with a new one with a completely new architecture as you suggested in your emails to members. Add new features taking cue from LanguaTalk, like complete access to past conversations and flashcards to review and consolidate new vocabulary from those conversations. Those guys are sure giving you a hard run for your money. It is a friendly advice :).
Everything you said makes perfect sense... BUT Marques has an HUUUUUUGE history bashing every brand under the sun with the very remarkable exception of Apple. He NEVER bashes Apple, always Apples failures and weaknesses are "nuances" and never go hard on those. Ill always get Marques opinions with a grain of salt because of that. Humane pin and that neon rabbit thing are AWFUL products though.
I think your of history is a bit off - the first iPhone was actually a bit shitty. In a time where most new phones were 3G, Apple introduced a 2G phone. And all phones had access to apps - they were generally pretty bad BREw apps but apps nonetheless - Apple introduced a phone where all of your apps were expected to be web pages. Which, didn’t Microsoft try that in Windows XP and that failed? Also Palm created a phone with webOS with that exact same idea that also failed (but maybe it was after the iPhone - idr). The point is that Apple knowingly created a subpar phone and acted shocked when people complained about its issues. Fortunately they corrected them a year later (instead of saying “you’re holding it wrong” (and I stood in line all day to get an iPhone 3g). But the first iPhone wasn’t very good.
Interesting! That actually sounds like it would be worth a whole other video talking about. I had no idea that from a technical level, the iPhone had those sort of issues. I guess it must be marketing that’s made it look like it was a flawless launch that changed the world forever with the perfect product.
Lol, I never bought a product reviewed positively by Brownlee. About his negative reviews that never prevented me from buying one also. My issue is that the products review are always top of the line and very expensive for my pocket. Even a 350€ phone is a well measured decision before pulling the trigger.
