I totally misinterpreted the title of this video. I thought you were saying that you had them inspect your car, then you bought it and it was messed up. Ended up being much, much more interesting than I thought. I'm absolutely horrified to see some of this - this is stuff I fully expect on an old Subie or something. But like... wrong side indicator, random screws trying their best to hold on to things. Oh. Oh no. Thanks for the video!
I had a good idea of what I was getting into when I bought this car, I knew about the accident, but I did not know about all the crappy repairs. McMedics showed me a lot and I am enjoying the renovation! Wish me luck and thanks for watching! My next video is coming out this week!
We are still getting prepped for the next manual paddle shift at a high RPM to test the transmission further. This coming week my video on replacing the brakes, tires - all the things we need to make it safe to go at higher speeds is coming out. I hope to be back testing the transmission by end of July. My damn day job is getting in the way of video creation. Thanks for Watching, if you haven't subscribed to the channel yet, please consider it!. Thanks for following along on this crazy journey.
I can't tell if I like them on white. They remind me a little of the alteeza taillights from the late 90s and its throwing me off. Not as much in the garage lighting, but in bright daylight more so. A further light tint may ease that feeling though.
Thanks for watching, I definitely learned a lot in the process, I hope I help someone else. Please consider subscribing if you want to get notified for more McLaren maintenance video's.
I definitely love it! Shark Blue is just the right shade of blue! Thanks for Watching, if you have not Subscribed to the channel, please consider it, will try to make great content for all the viewers.
How has this setup held up over time? Thinking of doing a similar setup. Did the car seem to lose any low end torque due to less restrictions? Much changes in smell of exhaust or do the primary cats elimiate most of the smell? Any issues with heat melting anything etc? Cheers!
Any info on where you bought these from other than eBay? They looked like a pretty good copy of the 507 Edition's wheels. Plus the badge on the rim looked like it should aswell......
I see your video is from Aug 2023. How is this holding up? My original grills looked pretty bad from bugs and crap taking the paint off. Did this material keep its black color? I have to replace mine because my wife hit a bird on the track at about 100mph. this bird went right ion the drivers side mesh.
They have held up really well, I like that the mesh is so cost affective, if an issue occurs other than the labor to swap it or refresh the mesh, I don't feel bad if it gets messed up. Have had no chipping or black coloring come off.
I agree, I wish Porsche finished out more of the car with Carbon Fiber or other materials. I think they know that it is a track car and its going to get messed up and plastic is cheaper than the carbon. Thanks for Watching!
I bought mine on eBay, here is a link for some current listed ones. www.ebay.com/itm/174566591968?chn=ps&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-166974-028196-7&mkcid=2&mkscid=101&itemid=174566591968&targetid=2274564709393&device=c&mktype=pla&googleloc=9028094&poi=&campaignid=21059602277&mkgroupid=159037256309&rlsatarget=pla-2274564709393&abcId=9386483&merchantid=101501242&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiAopuvBhBCEiwAm8jaMfJTsQJPDNN-pjJLwggV9sRHp18V70OgazBM5ZIwTD-Xww8Czc_wGhoCfG8QAvD_BwE
So, what was the wife's take on the new exhaust? .. Can she deal with the cold start volume?? .. Does she still talk to you? 😁 Really trying to make a sound decision between this, which is a muffler delete, and the 2M Fabrication cat back , which has some super tiny mufflers (Looks 100% identical to Paragon Touring Cat back .. perhaps their mfgr??) ... I love everything about the MBRP that I can see/hear .. but wonder if the cold starts will get old.
She still talks to me, she was pleasantly surprised, she like the loud start up, it is not a daily, so it doesn't bother her. She hated the quiet muted stock Corvette exhaust more. Thanks for watching.
Hey, did you have to put a tune on the car to turn off the check engine light? If you use high flow catted downpipes, do you still need to tune the car. im hesitant to change the downpipes from stock ones. A friend decided to tune his 19 E63 with the company DME & now needs an engine rebuild or replacement possibly of the heads due to low compression on cylinder 5.
You do need a tune to turn off the CEL with or without the cats, just because the airflow may be different. I actually had a DME tune, their tunes are aggressive, I recommend EuroCharge and doing a real dyno tune. Hope that helps!
This was one of the hardest mods we did on my AMG GTS, it was worth it at the end! Looked great. Thanks for watching, please consider subscribing to the channel if you haven't.
Would love to see a video where you drive the car in manual mode, and do "downshifts" as you pass by! .. Want to see how well it will snap & burble on downshifts. 👍🏼
Since it is just a catback exhaust, it won't really have much performance change. It is a muffler delete,, but it is really just a change in exhaust sound. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for the shoutout! Good job! You used a torx on the tail light screw, was there a 10mm head on it too? Now I can't remember if mine had a torx fit as well.
Thank you so much! Your channel has been a big inspiration - The taillight bolt, was a 10mm bolt with a T30 Torx in the head. Soon as I saw the Torx, I just went that route. Thanks for the encouragement.
