Andrea Cans is about 'putting up' food to utilize when cooking or baking. I present how to can food items via water bath canning, pressure canning, dehydration, and vacuum sealing. We believe in simple Midwest cookery and demonstrate ways that provide efficient, affordable meals. Times are tough! We must be ever vigilant in providing for our families. My husband, Kem, is featured in many of my videos. He brings good humor and levity to canning, baking, cooking, or gardening. We are a good team and am so thankful to have him in my life. He loves making videos too...and I am quite pleased of his willingness to participate in all of my shenanigans. Thank you for liking and subscribing to my channel. My purpose is to spread canning and cooking knowledge to other folks. And, if I do not get my cookbook written, at least the children will have the videos to fall back on - a legacy channel. I so appreciate your support! Andrea Cans Andrea Swayne Martin andreamartincans@gmail.com
Thank you, I didn't know about this method. I'm getting older and it's real hard for me to lift these jugs of water from the stores. I will start this project tomorrow. Thank you again. God Bless........and stay safe.....
I run tap water through my Brita pitcher and store it in used milke jugs, 2 liter bottles any bottle will do. I do have cans of water i use in my pressue canner when i dont have a full load to run . I stopped buying bottled water because its a waist of money for me.
I take milk jugs for boiling water in them twice and then I put water in and then I freeze it I have 8 Gall milk jugs in my freezer one other thing I'm enjoying my pickled eggs stay safe y'all
@@Ntsu345 me and Kem were talking about the egg prices last night. We raised our children on eggs…best meals for them while they were growing. Now, a carton of eggs is too expensive for families to afford.
@@AndreaCans I have a real good friend of mine I went to high school with and he brings me he brings me three or four dozen eggs from his chickens when we have our monthly breakfast for the guys I went to high school with
I have a couple of jars of sweet sweet peppers I bought at the store I ate all the peppers I put eggs in there for pickled eggs and an added jalapenos I'm hoping they're going to be ready by Friday
Last year I had about six tomato plants that they were still Green in December I gave at least 30 lb maybe more to my neighbor I also had jalapeno peppers she made what you're making I don't know how she made it but it was good gave me plenty of jars of it in fact I'm going to have some of my eggs this morning
@@Ntsu345 that sounds like a good breakfast to me. Yesterday, I went and picked up corn chips after my meeting and ate almost half a jar of verde. It’s addictive and well worth the time.
Hi Andrea! I happened upon this video from Facebook. I am part of the Nykoluk clan that settled in Davenport, I was called Maria or Mimi growing up. My mother was the Babcia that you kindly mentioned. I’m the aunt to Toni-Lynne and Rhee (Rosemarie), although I actually fall in the middle of them regarding age, your Uncle Tony is my older brother. I still make my mother’s ogerki and kapusta (pickles and sauerkraut) along with several other items. Her given name was Leonarda (Leda) Maliszewski Nykoluk and my father’s English style name was John (Iwan). I truly enjoyed your content and have shared it with my 3children. Feel free to contact me if you wish, I have liked and subscribed. 😊
@@marysiawronka2154 I remember you and we had a great time when we saw each other. Thank you for sharing your mom’s name with me - I could not remember. Would you be willing to share your mom’s recipes with me? My email address is andreamartincans@gmail.com. I so appreciate you reaching out, Mimi! Please do keep in touch. Thank you! ~Andrea
Kem says that we are going to look at it on Monday and give an update. I checked on it this morning and it has about three inches of liquid at the bottom of each jar. Kem wants me to tell you thank you and for the idea of other shines.
@@AndreaCans I apologize ,he did call it Applejack and for some reason my internet is resending the messages to you.. my bad! .. I would love to know how your jack turns out .
@@BigRichfrank no worries! Kem wants me to tell you that he thinks of it as Jack too. We will show you on Monday - one month in. Thank you for watching and your support.
When you make it/shine with apples , I think it's called apple jack. We been running fresh California fruits for a few years now. Have a batch of mango, strawberry fermenting right now. 😉😉 Shine on hommie!!

Help ? What do you know about allowing to sit in the alcohol longer than six weeks I went out of town and forgot to strain it before I went so it’s been more like 12 weeks sitting in the alcohol alcohol? Is this still good to use and what reference guides and how could I order your book?
@@ErykahGarcia-x6r hi! I am not sure because I have not yet strained ours and am waiting until November to do so. It will be ok. The book that I have does not give a time frame for drainage - I just checked. It will be ok I’m sure. The book I have is called Midwest Medicinal plants by Lisa M. Rose. I purchased it off of Amazon for about $16. Good for you for experimenting. Have a lovely weekend.
lol i grew up with chunky potatoes salad but when i married my husband he said what is that I said potatoes salad he said no my mom mashed them so now i mashed them.
I try to leave about an .5 to one inch of head space. That’s why I have a bailing spoon. I’m not perfect Dorene but it works for me. ❤ Thank you so much for your comment and for watching.
Hello and thanks! I don't have a dehydrated but have great results by chopping chives, putting them on parchment on a cookie sheet in freezer and then storing them in a container in freezer for a handful when needed.
I just ran across your video and its very interesting...i didnt know how easy it was to make laundry soap...wow....so i have one question to ask you- do you have to leave in bucket or can u put it in a regular laundry soap dispenser?? I dont know if u have to stir it each time...thank you both..
