I’m glad I watched this. I’ve been sanding to 600 and then buffing with blue the purple compound. Then resin handle looks good but turn foggy ish after. I’ll try this thanks 👍🏼
Nice Properly shaped and proper grind. Very usable and no garish decoration. Smaller than I would prefer, but it says so right up front. 😂 Thanks for the video
It is a real wakazashi People need to realise we have better steels now if the Japanese had the steels we have they wouldn't waist time making tamahagane back then so yes sir it has everything including a beautiful real hamon so lovely job
Very nice little blade. I don't understand the use of mild steel for the bolster and butt cap though as opposed to stainless. Mild steel is notorious for rusting very easily. Otherwise I really like it. Love thin blades like that. Would be a great bird and trout knife and even some light duty bush crafting.
Thanks, I appreciate you watching, I didn't show it in the video, but I used super blue solution on the fittings, this won't provide a 100 percent rust resistant finish but it helps a lot. The main reason I used mild steel is because it's what I had on hand, everything used in this build was essentially scraps from around the shop.
Very nice. But why mild steel bolster and butt cap as opposed to stainless? It's going to rust fairly easily unless you keep that part oiled.... I get that the blade is a carbon steel too but mild steel rusts very easily. Love that little blade though. Love thin blades like that. Looks like a great bird and trout and light duty bush blade.

I keep small pieces of leaf spring around to practice making smaller knifes, still haven’t perfected my hidden tang knives yet. I appreciate your work and your videos they really help me out.
I was pleasantly surprised when you kept the wrench handle. I had thought in the back of my head "It'd be cool if they kept the wrench handle." when I saw the handle get heated I was thinking, yeah it's going now but you just gave it a cool curve and I was so happy to see the wrench handle in the final design!
I appreciate you watching, when I forged this knife I was thinking about flattening the handle and going with scales but after seeing seeing how it looked after forging the blade, I was like nope it's staying. Great minds think alike!
Thanks! I appreciate you watching! The website was supposed to be taken down, but I guess they haven't done it yet. I am currently not taking any custom orders and am focusing solely on RU-vid for now, this fall though I plan on putting some pieces up for sale, I will announce it here on RU-vid when I do.
I find it amazing that a small cold metal piece can be transformed into a beautiful handmade knife that becomes a useful tool. Keep up the good work. Thank.
Thanks! I would go with a set of wolf jaw tongs and a set of v-bit tongs, Those have been my go to tongs for the past 5 years, and I have forged everything from small hunters to two -handed swords, and have done countless blacksmithing projects as well using them. I appreciate you watching.
