I agree. The creator doesn't get to decide how people use the word. Just like with a gif, it's not jif because it sounds stupid and no one says that without an army of people ready to correct them 😂
#Gample as a new term for "Meeple" Board game enthusiasts know the tiny wooden pawns as "meeple," a term coined by Alison Hansel in 2000. But with trademark issues surrounding "meeple" I propose "Gample" combining #Game and #People, as a new universal term for any human or animal shape Meeple. "Gample" is short, memorable, and captures the essence of these pawns. Let's make "Gample" the new go-to word for uniting boardgamers everywhere!
Glen More II with the new solo content is great, and I similarly cannot wait for Rogue Angels! My wife and I have been huge Mass Effect fans from the very beginning, so it's right up our alley.
Questions: did you play with the solo? If so any feedback about how much maintenance it requires? By that I mean, do you forget what you were doing by the time you finish playing the AI's turn or it's pretty quick? In terms of weight which is a big concern, any other popular games that are similar in weight? Thanks!
Unfortunately we didn’t have time to try out the solo before moving the prototype along, so I can’t say. As far as weight goes, it’s definitely lighter than a Lacerda. Slightly lighter than Trickerion, but fairly similar. It’s a little heavier than Apiary, if you’ve played that. I do think it’s fairly accessible for gamers. What are the heaviest games you enjoy playing?
Not Bored Gaming (Mark Dainty) has done a solo preview video which is worth checking out if you want to see how the AI works and the maintenance required.
@@richardwoods4995 Yes, I did thanks. Only problem is that he only showed the first turn, and then he said it gets more complex from there by showing upgrades cards. So no way to know how complex it gets, how long each subsequent turn of the solo takes, etc. I'll look around once more playthroughs are out, hopefully someone will do a full solo game. I might reach out to the solo designer, he was very responsive when I asked him a question about his design of Ada's Dream. Cheers! :)
Wow! That overview was very well done! The way you described the flow of the game finally made it click with me, and the cinematography-like way the camera moved was awesome! You've really been upping your game here! I've watched quite a few videos but this one is the one that grabs me and makes me want to play! Loved all your descriptions and reviews as well. Funny bloopers and we love you now even more cause 'black kitty!' (we have 3 black voids ourselves ;)
In 2019, Man vs Meeple did a video on the history of the word “meeple”. In it they put forth that, because meeple is made up of “my” and “people” and “people” is a plural, then “meeple” must also be plural. This video clip probably makes more sense in the full video.
I use meeple as both singular and plural. But I won't argue against someone using the word meeples. I will die on the hill in the argument between LEGO and LEGOs (LEGO is right btw. if you want to emphasize quantity, use Lego bricks or Lego parts)
Fun video. Getting new games to play is great. But getting games to the table regularly is even better! Thanks for reminding me it's been a while since I played Welcome To. It's simple and more ish. Also, I need to make time again for Unsettled this summer! The combination of deadly and tight puzzles with the whimsical writing is delightful. Some of our favourites and reliable games right now are: Expeditions (with the Gears of Corruption expansion), Azul (always competitive and fun) and Planet Unknown (best polyomino in my collection). Honourable mentions to Dune Uprising and Cascadia.
Yes!! I totally agree on Unsettled. The deadliness and whimsy juxtaposed just really works beautifully together. 😁 Azul remains one of my top games and Planet Unknown is our favorite polyomino too! Soo good. I’ve gotta get those back to the table soon. Thanks for watching!
Good video! I do like to see what’s hitting your table. For us we play a lot of Darwin’s Journey and Viscounts. We tend to go back to games that we don’t have to refresh the rules. I’m Canadian too and yes, we do tend to do that a lot! Lol
I need your help as I cannot find any clarifications in Harmonies can I take 2 brown and 1 tree and make a 3 tall tree or can they only be played on ones from previous turns? Hopeing you can help thanks :)
I find your reviews insightful and detailed. I love your enthusiasm for the hobby. The only "problem" is that you are responsible for an ever expanding list of games on my "to get" list (but really, only my pocketbook is complaining 😹).
Thanks so much for your kind words!! We really appreciate it! I totally hear you lol. We are looking to get into some culling content into the future, so maybe that’ll help! 😁
I love your video. Very concise and on point. I was curious about the expansions and you gave quite the overview. Also the video looks good. I'm also jealous of the LOTR table. I'll put that on my dreams personal board haha
I love love love this! Peaceful Zen and Pretty! I think this game is a wonderful idea like you said to hit that meditative and calming sweet spot. Thanks for sharing! Would love to add this to my collection 🌻🥀
Grant Lyon mentioned in his 'Coming to retail in May' video that there will be a Target deluxe exclusive. Sad for Canadians, but at least people in the US should be aware of it if they want to grab that version instead. I'm jelly lol I secured my copy at 401 games, not letting that one pass me by again. Last time it flew off the shelves fast ;)
Oh that’s good to know! Yeah, sometimes you’ve got to act really quick! I’ve missed out on more than a couple of games I really wanted because they sold out too quickly.
Cant wait to pick this up when its available in Canada. I'm one of the many who have been pestering Kevin Wilson about getting it reprinted. Thanks for bringing more attention to this chill game
Oh I want those dice!!!! So going to back this one!!! Backed :) wish I could have afforded the Glow in the Dark too - but that's okay. They are 303% funded so that is fantastic. I can't wait to get them.
Aaw - that was a short blooper ;) . Oh gosh this looks fantastic. I am definitely going to look for her kickstarter for the 2025 calendar. Thanks so much for this awesome review. Oh my gosh - went to your link and the campaign was over - but wait - there's more - I was overjoyed when I saw I could back her as a "late backer" - I can't wait to receive my calendar in the fall time ;)
I love your videos my only complaint would be you always blur your games on the shelf i love checking what people own and looking for stuff that catches my eye is how i find most the games i buy, would love to be able to read the names on them.
Thanks so much!! 😊 I totally get that. That’s why we have always filmed in front of our game shelf; we love looking at games behind people too. Right now we’re filming in cinematic mode, which blurs it on its on. But, we’ve only been doing that this past year. If you check out some older videos, you can see all the games! Just keep in mind they’re older. 😆
