This channel was born out of a desire to encourage musicians (well, myself first and foremost!) to grow and share their God-given talents, and to persist in the battle against the crippling grasp of perfectionism.
My desire is to eventually explore the ambient possibilities of what's possible with bass and pedals, and I hope that the music here may be a conduit for the Lord to bless, inspire, and heal you ever so deeply.
sorry man, didn't have my camera settings right in the first few covers; hope they're better now! but yeah, i do move quite a bit when i'm playing standing up - i feel it helps me keep time haha.. still, thanks for the comment, will try to keep this in mind for new covers!
🙏Let Us Pray: God bless my family, friends, and myself. God, we don’t know what tomorrow may hold but we know who holds tomorrow. You do! So let us keep our focus on You at all times, read Your Word, be doers of Your Word, and trust in Your promises. Let Your Word be the unbreakable foundation of our lives. Bless us each to live a Kingdom Culture Mentality. Bless us to have and operate with a God-solution-focused heart, mind, spirit, and attitude. God, please do the same for the writer of this prayer. For in You we all live, move, and have our being. God Thank You. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen, so be it by faith. 💡The only reason we are living is because God still has a work for each of us to do.
Nice dude! You've got the double thumb technique! I've tried a few times, but just can't seem to get it right. lol. I have my own way of slapping and popping though. I've never been trained, so I figured many things out on my own. I'm fine with that though. Sounding great dude!
nah I've only got one thumb on each hand. hahaha just kidding. thanks for the many kind comments! hey man, doesn't matter whether you're trained or not - as long as it sounds good it all works! =) i've never been trained either, but to my ears, this way seems to suit my skinny fingers the best so far, at least for slap
I just started learning to play the bass. I’m using Musicademy to learn through worship songs. Any starter suggestions? I love your worshipful playing!
My personal take is that at the start of picking up an instrument, one should listen to lots of genre-specific music and try to focus your attention purely on that particular instrument. Once you're able to zone in on the bass sound specifically, you'll be able to start picking up what other players do much more easily. And perhaps somewhere down this journey, you'll be able to fit what you hear into the sound of the major scale just by listening Technique-wise, just practicing with a metronome and trying my best to keep an even volume across the various techniques has served me well over the years
We were fortunate enough to find out she was coming to our small town about a year or two ago and got tickets to her worship service. Some would say "concert" but it was absolutely a worship service. She has an anointed collection of original songs, very talented person. I'm glad I get to hear your take on her songs. You inspire me to do better with my bass playing in my church. May the Lord bless you and your ministry!! Also if you haven't checked him out, Travis Dykes.
Praying that we'll get to see her lead worship all the way here in Singapore someday! Humbled that I can inspire anyone, but glad to have blessed you somehow =) And yeah, I was just watching a couple of Travis' videos yesterday. Doing some research on strings because I need to change them soon heh
You mean from plucking to slap? Slap knocks the strings against the frets so a brighter sound is produced! =) But you're talking about plucking, plucking nearer the bridge is brighter and plucking nearer the fretboard is mellower and rounder. Hope this helps 🙏🏻
Around 3:05 and 3:07 I think you started the slapping. I wish I could learn that. Or maybe it’s a slap pluck combo? I never took lessons, just picked it up raw. I was playing guitar but the church needed a bass player.
Ah yea, that is slapping. I've never taken lessons too, but I picked it up from YT vids and music I listen to cause I just loved the sound of it! I'm using my thumb to slap thru the string and my index finger to pop on the high strings. But on the left hand, muting is really important too, so you can see (or maybe not) I'm using my left index finger and pinky to fret, but also my middle finger to mute the lower strings. Take a while to get but becomes second nature with some practice!
