Hi JK. My daughter has been allocated Castle, and is now preparing the room preference form. We have a couple of questions : how many students share the bath and toilet in Moatside and Bailey Court? Is there single ensuite for first years?(Didn't think so, but it appears on the form). Is Owengate and within the main Castle building, is it only shared room with ensuite? Is BC shared with Hatfield? My daughter has chronic sinusitis, so air quality is important, hence she will likely need a purifier. Can you share your opinion which accommodation may be more suitable, based on general cleanliness, quality of building and furnishing, etc, as it contributes to allergens in the rooms. Thank you.
do anyone know about Moatside P blockk or Bailey Court B block? I am going to choose one of those blocks to live this year, and I saw a lot negative comments on these 2 blocks
I wanna go to these college when I’m 18 but my parents would never let me move out unless I’m married, my heart is breaking because of how bad I want attend in the future.
What a lovely family you have and nice editing. Everything they do trigger my moment with my fam long ago that i almost forgot. Thank you for sharing your life diary 😊 Btw i know you from a RU-vidr PEACHII, who met you to talk about Durham University.
Hello, Superb video I had query I have got offer letter from 3 colleges for may intake ALGONQUIN college Ottawa campus CONESTOGA college kitchener campus Durham college Oshawa campus I am confused which one would be the best suitable option for me in terms of education, getting good part time job while studying in that particular area. College which has good placement cell which would help me in getting job in my field that is finance or banking sector which would also further help me in getting PR. Where Cost of living and travelling will also be minimal in those cities. Which would be best college for me please suggest. Or should I apply to more colleges in Toronto region where all banks head quarters are situated. Thanks in advance.
Paula That’s great news and I can’t wait either 😁! I will be doing philosophy in my first year and then I’ll most likely be doing “philosophy” with “ancient history and classics” after I’ve completed my first year. What course are you doing? 😊 Btw, are you going to the post offer visit day at Castle on the 25-27th of March?
Ellis Jay Farrow that sounds so interesting! I would 100% do history if I wasn’t a true crime lover hahah I’ll be doing criminology! And yes I will be attending the post offer day, I’ll see you there! :)
Paula Lol 😂. Well, I hope you enjoy criminology later this year 😊. I’m sure it will be fascinating. And cool. I’m staying/sleeping over on the 25th March at Castle and then I’ll be there on the 26th for most of the day. I’ll hopefully see you there (even though I don’t know how I will be able to recognise you 😂😂).
so it's like at Oxford? where you can"t apply just for one language and treat it as for example spanish studies per se, but you need to know one language extra apart from English (for foreign students of course) to study both of them?
I did my year abroad at Castle 1996-1997. Sadly, I have not kept touch with anyone from those days for several years now. In many ways, my year there is now like a dream. But your videos have brought it all back for me. I can’t thank you enough for these videos.
i'd like to study Criminology at Durham and i was wondering where is the department located...? is it closer to the Bailey or Hill colleges? i would highly appreciate if you answered, cause i'm torn between two colleges, both in a different area😄
You have made me love Durham so much. Despite all the controversy I've heard over racism and classicism, ( which really scares me ) your videos make it look like such a beautiful campus with the best social atmosphere.
I am glad! Honestly trust me, the majority of people at Durham are really really nice! There's just a handful of people who are less so, but that happens with other areas in life too. Don't let it put you off applying or anything, because honestly those were the 4 best years of my life!
Hi Jimmy! I am partway through my application process for uni, Durham is my top choice at the moment and I was wondering if you had any tips for personal statement writing, thank you love your videos!
I’m applying at the moment for languages and am trying to decide between colleges. I know that castle sometimes has a bit of a reputation for being a bit posh - have you found a good mix of people (plenty of down to earth people ahh) at castle. I love everything else about Durham and castle!
Hey Lottie, first of all, thanks for your comment! That's great that you're applying to Durham! If you want a short answer, then, yes, I have found a great mix of people that I would not have done anywhere else had I gone to some other college/uni. Here comes the more longwinded answer: The thing is, people may think Castle is particularly posh and could be daunting, but I think this is quite an unfounded reputation in general. I think on the whole, Castle is as inclusive, if not more so than other colleges. Most people at Castle don't pay attention to whether you come from a posh middle class private school background. I think the reputation comes from the fact that we are simply lucky enough to live in the Castle. Trust me when I say that you will be able to find people with similar interests, backgrounds, cultures etc. to you at Castle, but more importantly, you'll find a lot of people with very different interests, backgrounds and cultures, which is what you want, after all that's how you will learn more about other people/cultures. Hope this helps, and let me know if you have anymore questions :)
How u made a perfect quality of the video about durham reality uni life. u well overqualified to get more and more viewers Im sure about that loll😆 Im just projected applicant durham uni in 2019 as ug student. I truely hope See u in there haha...!
Im trying to decide what college to apply to for 2019 entry and I really like the look of Castle but I'm just wondering whether because it's so central, whether there's a problem with tourists? :)
