I'm enjoying the "day in the life of a fisherman/guide". Yes, I prefer the vast majority of the content to be about catching fish and showing catching fish. That said, items like this are actually highly useful. Good job and interesting content. Hope the family is well Glenn!

Thanks Michael, the fishing has been terrible for us, and many around the area so we are making the best of some tough situations. These problems happen so often, yet most of us try to hide them. I really thought it was worth the 'inside look'

Nothing more fulfilling than fixing something & getting it running good as new. Good work Glenn.

Thanks Matt, I thought this would be a good 'real life scenario' video to remind us with boats that issues will arise, and that we can fix them. Appreciate you watching!

Important video Glenn. Applies to all of us in potentially so any different ways. That pike definitely identified as a musky lmao

Thanks, I thought it was a relatable video, and so many of the fishing videos only show the success of fishing but many of us suffer the issues of the real world.

Karen and I on our first trip this year on our boat had a $6 fuse go out. Killed the motor. Thankfully the trolling motor was fully charged. Spent the next week chasing it down. I thought the boat would have a fuse block. It didn’t. Spares are in the emergency kit now. We just need to win the lottery and then new boat is almost in our grasp 😎. Nice shout out on the nuisance pike😉. Every fish counts until I catch a Musky lol. Great as always Glenn. Pike Slayer out😎

I had a similar story with the BassCat, fuse went to the instrument panel, and same deal, just an inline fuse. I figured it out and have spares in the tool kit. I think I will revisit the tool kit video this season again.

Even the new ones have issues pop up , My new 1750 fishhawk is going in for new passenger and drivers side dashes ,,, both couldn't withstand the cold temps when in storage this winter . Chrestliner is coming good with warranty so thats a bonus .

Nice that they are coming through on warranty, I have heard of similar issues up here and boat owners having trouble claiming warranty on cracks from winter storage. We will all have issues, we just gotta deal and move through it.

Thanks Mitch, we are all going to run into issues at some point. Being able to figure things out on our own is a valuable skill. I enjoy learning about the equipment I own, so these issues don't come as a shock. It still sucks in the middle of a guide day.

Yep, good advice, appreciate this aspect very much - better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it! And where would we be without dads to show us the way as young boys/men! How do you like the power steering? I'm taking one for a test drive this morning and am very curious how it handles/reacts.
@54orbust
@54orbust Месяц назад
I wouldn't run a big tiller without it now. So smooth and easy to drive, no steering feedback through the tiller. The downside? It takes a lot of power, so in most cases with graphs and the power steering pump two batteries in parallel are needed, which is my set up. And growing up where we did, following our Dad's around, we learned a lot about how to fix things on the fly. I am very grateful for that!

I’ve owned a brand new bass boat and still had plenty of issues, in todays prices I would much rather buy used and have to do some fixing
@54orbust
@54orbust Месяц назад
I know of plenty of anglers that have had major issues with new boats and motors as well. It was a tough decision, but the price on new is so high right now that I was confident I could handle any issues, and the boat is what I really want for musky fishing, so in the future I wouldn't rule out a re-power if I have too. Thanks for watching, and the comment. I know so many of us are in the 'same boat' so to speak.

I bought my 2008 ranger 620 right before covid hit and man I’m glad I got it when I did, I agree I will gladly repower if needed, the more payment a guy has the more overtime I work so that’s less time on the water

Boat: a hole in the water in which you pour money. Mine is sitting in the garage because I don't have the money to get it water ready. 😢 Otherwise, I would be going to Canada and trying to figure out if there's a way we could fish together. But that's not going to happen this year. 😢 I cracked a cylinder in my motor block on a Canadian trip years ago. Almost every time I went to Canada, I had a mechanical failure of some sort with the boat or trailer.
@54orbust
@54orbust Месяц назад
I've heard that from so many anglers, trailer issues, light issues or motor trouble. They are money pits, but damn they are fun!
@thelonesomefisherman7425
@thelonesomefisherman7425 Месяц назад
@54orbust Yes, they're fun. Nothing quite like crossing a beautiful shield lake, on a nice calm sunny day, with the boat skimming along on plane with the wind in your face. 😊

@thelonesomefisherman7425 Месяц назад
@54orbust The sad part was that mechanical failures always happened on my Canadian trips, never when I was fishing near home.

When buying used anything always go over that thing from top to bottom spend time looking at every little thing..

Yep, so true. And for us, its learning as we go, what type of parts we need to keep on hand as standard repair items. But, you just never know what will come up.

@@54orbust nice, I have a 185 with a 90 and I’d say it’s underpowered aswell. Not sure why they they underpower tillers so often with the same shell/hull
