Can I ask, what snowshoes are those? They look nice and compact. My Tubbs are such monstrosities that can barely strapped to a backpack.
@ThePreparedNorseman

They are Fimbulvetr Rangr I believe, but would not recomend for mountain terrain. I have since then changed to Tubbs VRT snowshoes.

Hello. I'm looking for some advice. Is the jerven bag compatible with a down quilt or bag inside, or will it compress the down. What temp rating of quilt would you recommend for a UK winter taking into account the jerven insulation. How much extra heat will it give me? Also. I'm interested what rating bag I would need for a Finnish winter as in around minus 20 Deg. Thanks in advance. Sam
@ThePreparedNorseman
@ThePreparedNorseman 10 месяцев назад
Hi! The insulated Jerven bags are ok with down quilts for a couple of nights. They block the wind and look pretty cool, and adds a few C to the bag rating. I mostly use them for day hiking but they also work for sleeping under the stars. Coastal camping up here by Bergen I find -6 comfort works most of the year. If you want to be comfy estimate the absolut lowerst temp and get a bag comfort rated for that.

hey dude, what temperature do you think you could sleep in this without carrying a sleeping bag and only a light closed cell foam mat like you had underneath on the outside? I'm from Australia and usually temperatures at night where I go outside of Winter are above 5 degrees.I was thinking of getting the fjellduken to use in the configuration you used as an emergency shelter to take day hiking.
@ThePreparedNorseman
@ThePreparedNorseman Год назад
Hey! I have slept in it by it self in 10c and been comfortable, so with the correct amount of clothing you probably could push it lower. They do various models so be sure to get the right one. I use mine in winter on day hikes all the time both for lunch breaks and as an emergency shelter.

How have you found the tent to be? I've got one and used it twice, I found it spacious enough for me on my own. I think with 2 it would be a tight fit but manageable and the condensation, even here in northern England in march... when the days are warm (ish) about 15c and the nights cold.....down to minus 3, I didn't have much trouble with it to be honest. Just leave the main door and small side door open for half an hour in the morning then wipe the inside with a decent sponge or cloth after. I absolutely love this tent for the weight/size/money. Thanks for helping me choose to buy it!!

It’s great value for money, that’s for sure! I enjoyed it so much I sold it off and bought the very similar Tarptent Rainbow that the Naturehike is copying. The Tarptent has a few features that are I really wanted, like being able to use the trekking poles for extra wind stability. Good to hear you’re enjoying the tent ⛺️
