I'm From Driftwood collects and shares true LGBTQ stories from all over the world to help our youth feel not so alone.
I’m From Driftwood envisions a world where every lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer person feels understood and accepted, and every straight person is an ally.
I’m From Driftwood aims to help LGBTQ people learn more about their community, straight people learn more about their neighbors and everyone learn more about themselves through the power of storytelling and story sharing.

Increasing empathy and empowering individuals is accomplished by creating an apolitical forum for LGBTQ stories from every age, race, gender, background and culture. The stories deepen our understanding of each other, preserve history, and open hearts and minds.

The most personal and meaningful stories are shared when the storyteller is in a trust-worthy, welcoming, judgment-free environment.

As one of the longterm survivors, I can't help but feel a bit "forgotten about" in this day and age where PrEP seems to be the "fix-all" for prevention. It's great, and I'm thrilled for those who have managed to steer clear of this horrible disease. But people are still being really risky out there (I was one of those dumbasses in the early 90s who figured I just had some sort of magic immunity so I played Russian roulette with it for years til I finally lost). One of the main things I would love young people to know is: just because someone says "I'm neg" doesn't make it true. Even if they "just got tested". Did they? Do you have a copy of the bloodwork and know their whereabouts from every single moment from the blood test to this moment right now? Then you don't know. Plus, a lot of guys will say anything to get you into bed and play without any protection. I'm really grateful to experts like Anthony Fauci who pushed for advocacy and education when the epidemic started gaining momentum in the early 1980s...so that nowadays there are a lot of medication options for people like me so that we can stay alive and as healthy as possible.

Just love this kid. For one, so well informed. For another, so well equipped to debate on a calm, regulated, intelligent basis. I don’t think there are many who could prevail. In terms of his interviewer, I feel sorry for him as well. He’s allowed others to convince him that the actions of others dictates who he must be simply by being part of a similar subgroup. His actions, whatever they may be, are his alone. He has the ability to act ‘morally’ or ‘immorally’ as he chooses to define it. We should only, ever, mimic and listen to the people with whom we would trade places. Anyone else is discardable…and should be discarded. Why on earth would you listen to someone who judges others when it should be your first clue anything they have to say is useless.

I'm sorry you had to go through. In my ideal world, kids would learn quite early that sometimes feelings and body parts did not match, and that is ok. It's just the way it is.

I know let’s go halfway across the world to get a child that was thrown away and then when we find a little mark in his being will throwing him away too. I’d have to think real hard before I got back with those parents.

I cannot figure, how someone who has no knowledge of the gay experience and is not willing to learn, try to change who people are attracted to.

I’m a straight male and I just can’t understand what it is that people don’t understand when someone says that they are gay. What do they possibly expect from them as an explanation? I couldn’t tell why I’m straight. It never occurred to me to be otherwise and I’m pretty sure it’s exactly the same for someone who is gay. We are who we are. It’s not like a style choice or something.

"Why are you attracted to men?" OMG! Haven't you ever seen them? How are you not? The fact that some people want to roll the clock back a thousand years or so because they're so concerned about your life is just scary and sad.

I have been in your shoes, I still ask myself what I could have done differently to save my friend. How do you stop me grieving? I’m unable to get over his death, (July 22,2024) I have stayed busy on a project we started but some days are just so hard to get through, my dog has been by my side and it does help some. Would love to know your thoughts. New Orleans is my favorite city to visit. I’m from Memphis.

Cheers to being a weirdo! Everytime I worry about wearing something "weird" or "embarrassing" in front of my students, I think about how I would have felt and how I did feel around my queer teachers and older friends, and I realize that its the best I could be doing, to show my students I love them no matter how "eccentric" they may be. And it really works wonders too :)

"If you were raised by your mother and angry at your father, it explains why you were gay because you had a feminine upbringing and yearned for paternal affection...and if you were raised by your father and are angry at your mother, it explains why you were gay because you were only taught love for/from men, and hate women" Changing the goal posts.

There's no such thing as CONVERSION THERAPY. Full stop!!!!!! If your born gay,Lesbian Bysexuall , any amount of supposed!!! conversersion therapy's will do more harm then good to some one going through puberty. You cant change who you are ,you have to work through it with understanding from people who understand.not somone trying to convert you to who your not thats where the damage is.

Hi, I'm Stan and I'm gay. In 1992 I bought a house and it came with 5 teenage boys. It was a redneck neighborhood and there moms and dads were not very good. Four of them would follow the boy nextdoor everywhere. His dad let him have sex with his stepmom for his sixteenth birthday. His dad was an over the road truck driver and gone a long time. When I heard that I had no problem with him being at my house. Even with the other boys. I was the first known gay man to move into the neighborhood.

When it comes to homosexual man vs a narcissistic man, there is a distinction. Gay men treat women with respect who enjoy the company of women, on the other hand a narcissist men are contemptible towards women, they hate women and tend to be closet homo’s. Narcissistic women have the same traits as narcissistic men. Both are predatory and toxic and quite phony.

4:44 Christian theology is not Biblical. We are not supposed to argue or debate with anyone who has foolish and unlearned questions. Like being "born" gay aka sinful. That's twisting scripture. So is "conversion therapy." As Christians, forcing someone to choose GOD, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit is not Biblical. 3 times to spread the Gospel, and we shake the dust from our sandals. Free Will. We cannot get anyone, but ourselves through GOD, The FATHER (through Jesus Christ) and finally Home. We have the Holy Spirit when we hear, believe, repent, baptized for remission of sins, and live a Christian life. I was not born sinful. No one else was either. Which is why choosing GOD or Satan is the only choices in the Spiritual War. I pray that everyone heals and changes for the better. Myself included always. 🥰🤟🏻🙏🏻🕯🕊

I cant like this video bc I hate how much has been cut out. There was clearly a huge gap before 1:40 and I`d like to know what was there. I really don`t see why would anyone delete the piece about struggle (that I suspect were there). That would only enrich the story.

No they are not heroes for coming out to their Gayness. They are the most deceitful big fat liars. If you find out that your husband is gay Run and walk away even with kids, why would you want to stick with Someone who lied to you and made you have kids ? They are the biggest liars and con artists. There’s No excuse for being closed gay. Open gays doesn’t even respect them, because they are two faced con artists.

The first thing I thought of when he tried to put blame on your father or mother were cop shows. The cops always seems to find that person who has "an answer" for everything, just not the right thing.
