Cool vid. Brings me way back to the good ol days. Back in another lifetime i was eyeballs deep. Even tho i wished i was among them, they were a different level. But I was fortunate enough to learn directly from and call a couple members of the +HCU personal friends. They literally were the OG for all this... It was the wild west way back then. Man this video really cranked up some nostalgia. Thanks man
The NTSB plays a key role in something that directly or indirectly affects everyone on the planet - namely, the safety of all those who (regularly or occasionally) use public or private transportation (including all those whose wellbeing or lives are impacted by transportation mishaps). In terms of budget or staffing, the NTSB may not be large, but its importance is huge! Thank you for this outstanding overview of the NTSB, & of the general investigative process!
design.... design..... unfortunately if you work in japan... a huge screen with a 100 buttons is good design! no wonder the suicide rate is high here...
The downshot to all this is seen in all Microsoft UIs--if you have to google how to change a single simple setting because it's buried 36 screens deep, you are a failure as a designer.
After a few seconds 💥, I realized what made the viewing experience worse. RU-vid changed itself to 480p automatically... 🚩🍋 RU-vid is one of the best examples of when the optimization of expenses (saving resources). It ruins the UX and harms the brand 🍋 // In 2023 🦖🦖
I think different scenarios require different set of words to Enhance user experience. For ex. A 7 star hotel will use more hard vocabulary for their customer base while a web application would have to make it simpler for people as their is nobody to guide in how to navigate.
Very well presented. You can see that this talk was created with care for the quality and to serve the audience. This is what tech talks should strive to be.
I recently started UX Design course, very excited to start in the field. Thank you for this presentation, it really helps to get a sense of what UX is early on!
20:40 The RU-vid Ai was great at finding quality content a few years ago. Education, entertainment, documentaries. Since they "fixed" the algorithm, of course we don't get much political content, but everything else was nuked too. Sometimes, the algorithm does what if should, you just wanted the wrong thing, because you are a politically motivated agent with no understanding of humans and history.
20:00 Amazon's AI was right. It did not discriminate against women because of hatred, it did so because it detected that women are not as good as men. The algorithm does not ask why. Because when you optimize, you don't want to know why, you want results. Overall, women can have a good life in society without going up the ladder. Men in the other hand can't get a family if they flip burgers. Outside of debates of competency and genetics, men simply have stronger, more lethal and sexual incentives to compete in the workforce.
It's 2021. I have a 256Gb microSD that's about the size of my smallest fingernail. And yet, '.tar' is still a data storage identifier. I used 'tar' quite often on a UNIX system in '78 because the evolving content of text files on its 8Mb of online disk storage had to be "swapped to tape". Ah, sweet nostalgia... 🙂 Really enjoyed the clear, concise presentation... Thank you!
