Need help understanding difficult concepts in nursing? Nurse Jenny is here!
I'm looking to make a difference in nurses and nursing students' lives by creating easy-to-digest information.
I hold my MSN in Nursing Education and am currently an ICU nurse, a clinical instructor, and a DNP student.
Let me know if you have any questions or if there's any other content you'd like to see! :)
Good luck to everyone on their nursing journey, thank you for all you do.
This channel is for educational purposes. While I strive for the utmost accuracy, errors may occur, and information may change over time. Thank you for your understanding.

I passed my CCRN test today!! Your videos were great, and i specifically wanted to thank you on the hemodynamics portion, i finally understood after you went over it. You made things easy to connect and understand. Thanks Nurse Jenny!!!

Happy to add myself to the list of people that passed! I owe my passing in big part to your content because up until I discovered your channel a couple weeks ago, I could not wrap my head around hemodynamic numbers and MI/EKG interpretation. Your explanations of all the content is so easy to digest and your tricks to remember things stuck in my head during the test, many of your practice questions were the same as ones I did in barrons book and AACN question bank so it’s good quality practice too! Thank you so much for your knowledge nurse Jenny!!

Also wanted to add, cardiac was my best category and I only missed 3 questions there, which I didn’t think would’ve been possible before watching your videos!

I had two questions on the CCRN where it asked about a patient who was admitted for dka because he wasn't taking his insulin because he had moments of hypoglycemia when he did. Would you contact the diabetic educator (because maybe he isn't administering his insulin properly) Or would you contact the endocrinologist. I can't remember the specifics about the other question but the two answers I was between was the diabetic educator or the endocrinologist. when would you contact one over the other.
@NurseLifeAcademy
@NurseLifeAcademy 8 дней назад
That's a great question! With the information that you mentioned, I would probably lean towards contacting the endocrinologist. With the patient stating he has moments of hypoglycemia, it leads me to believe that perhaps there needs to be adjustment in the insulin dosing. I would be interested to see the correct answer and rationale, though! In real life, it would certainly be beneficial to consult both to give the patient the best possible outcomes going forward. I hope that helps!

for question #15, I immediately removed choice C because pt. is hypotensive and one of the options was vasodilators in C. Can you explain why this would still be the correct answer, considering that a vasodilator would potentially make the hypotension worse? I understand that this pt. is presenting as cardiogenic shock/HF and would need preload and afterload reduction, but was thrown off by other data in the question. Thanks in advane!

@NurseLifeAcademy

You can use these questions for the PCCN exam, however, there will be some things that I cover which wouldn't be on the PCCN as it pertains only to critical care. But most of the information is applicable!

Hi Jenny! I love you videos, I’m trying to watch dynamics part one, but there is no volume at all, when I watch part 2 I can hear you. Is there anything I can do to be able to listen to your video???
@NurseLifeAcademy
@NurseLifeAcademy Месяц назад
Unfortunately for the first few videos, I didn't realize I had the "mono" option on which only defaults to one ear. If you're listening on headphones, try the other earpiece? Or you can listen through a computer! So sorry about that, but hopefully that solves the problem.

Miss Jenny, are rapid response nurses qualifies to take CCRN?
@NurseLifeAcademy
@NurseLifeAcademy Месяц назад
I would think so! As an RRT RN, are you spending most of your time in direct patient care of critically ill patients? In the facility I work at, the rapid response nurses would meet the requirements for critical care experience required by the AACN. You can do either the 2-year plan requiring 1750 hours in the past two years, or the 5-year plan requiring 2,000 within the last five years. Hope that helps.

I noticed you took out the PAOP with the ARDS. So why is it <18 in ARDS?
@NurseLifeAcademy
@NurseLifeAcademy Месяц назад
The trend of PAOP readings in ARDS has been disputed as more evidence has come out. But generally speaking (for the CCRN), a PAOP greater than 18 mmHg would be cardiac in origin while ARDS patients would have elevated PAOPs but they would be <18. In clinical practice, it seems that this may vary, but for the CCRN, I would stick to this information. Hope that helps!

For question ten- why would we use an interpreter when the questions states both parents are proficient in english?
@NurseLifeAcademy
@NurseLifeAcademy Месяц назад
While both parents "appear to be proficient", they may not be, which can be assumed by their minimal responsiveness. To ensure that they understand, the best choice would be to utilize an interpreter to not leave room for uncertainty.
