First time viewer here. Interesting topic! I have no interest in dash cam reviews, but little insights into whatever topic the presenter is interested in sound great! Looking fwd to dental tractors and farming x-ray imaging.
In germany many new constructed areas for homes must be able to take care of their rainwater by infiltration. so a lot of green and clever planning is required. The reason behind this is the mostly outdated sized in the mixed-water and rainwater sewers, that cause flooding otherwise. Source: I am an engineer in the surveying department of urban drainage in a major city in germany (a city with more bridges than venedig. most germans will know what city I mean :D )
Fun fact, the IIHS was made up by insurance companies so that auto manufactures would have to make cars safer so that they would have to pay out less in insurance claims. It's much cheaper to pay for a new car than to pay for someone to be in a hospital for months and needing expensive medication for the rest of their lives. So while yes it's good for us when it comes to safety, it was only done so the rich wouldn't have to pay out as much in claims. And before you ask... No... rates didn't drop even though the insurance companies were having to pay out less...
idk about others, but I live in literally the driest country in the world. seeing rain at least once per year would be lovely, so I don't think this applies everywhere
You would think that he talks about things that aren’t made in the USA. But literally every example you use came out of this country. Germany has no speed limit, would be way more interesting to talk about the way tires behave on high speeds. Rather than talk about how the us made a new screw.
"plunging cities and technology into the dark ages" I have no reason to assume that the rest of the video is poorly done or researched, but after that display of taking 19th century scholarship as today's standards, I am not risking 20 minutes of my time on finding out
Absolutely nothing stops the rain from flooding my city. The past few years, every time it rains it floods. There was one flood around 2022 so bad it destroyed a whole city and killed almost a million livestock.
Another great video Andrew. 4 years since update. Anything new? Also, what's your recommendation on reformatting dash cam cards every few months? Does reformatting cause premature wear?
Problem: more runoff = less perculation = flooding. Solution: INCTREASE PERCULATION, NOT speed of drainage!!! Idiotic "solutions" like increasing drainage is NOT the solution...
i didnt watch the video, i just came here to say i live in Wayne county michigan and the answer to "what keeps your city from flooding when it rains?" is "nothing"
This video is extremely valuable for us here in Brazil 🇧🇷 . We faced the most devastating flood ever in the south of the country, and I believe events like these (heavy rains) are going to be more common. Thank you for your research and work!
