I saw John in 1974 at Toronto El Macombo. I kissed his cheek, as I just loved him and his music. I asked him to sing his famous Woogy Boogy. He was amazing 😅
I can't help but wonder how he'd have voiced the SatAM version. There are hints of Bryan Blessed in AOSTH so I would expect a Paul Darrow mixed with Jacqueline Pearce if he'd voiced the SatAM Ro-butt-nik.
One of the best Blues singers!! Not only did he have great talent, he was also a person with a big heart and a happy and humble person. We are going to miss you, Hans! The world will be different without you. RIP Hans.😢🕯🕯🕯
The best cover of this fantastic song of The Walker Brothers. I knew where i was when i heard that song travelling through Yougoslavia from Greece of the golden years...
I saw him in St Paul, Mn in 1971. Came out on the stage with a huge flag with a WB on it. Figure it out. The best show band I ever saw. He rocked the house.
Baldry's voice here honestly sounds like how I imagine if he still voiced Robotnik in Sonic SatAm. You know, he still sounds like Robotnik but he's more serious and less comedic.
When you got LJB on vocals, and the great Davy Graham on guitar, and they’re performing a classic tune like “Careless Love”, then you don’t need anything more. It’s perfect. Thanks you for uploading another treasure!
I was there that night watching Long John. While working for Kassner Music and it sister record Company President Records in 67-68 age 16/17 as the office boy, at 25 Denmark St, WC2. One of their acts was Felice Taylor who had a hit, I feel love coming on in 67, and I had to go to Top of the pops with Felice Taylor in early Nov 67, to watch he mime. I also so saw that night, Long John Baldry, Let the heart aches begin, The Dave Clark five , Every body knows and The Troggs, Love is all around.
Back in the 80s, I saw him do an acoustic show in a small theatre in a very small town. The place was packed. And it was like Blues 101. One of the best concerts I've ever seen.
