One of my first memories of watching soap operas with my mom was Walter's death. He was driving in the rain, with his last word being a crying "Lenore!" He ran off the road into a lake or river or something. I would love to see footage of that again.
The Doctors, the Emmy Award-winning drama dedicated to the brotherhood of healing. Brought to you by the Colgate-Palmolive Company, makers of stronger-than-dirt Ajax Detergent and Palmolive Liquid-softens hands while you do dishes.
This is fantastic…i very much enjoyed this audio presentation. I have been listening to a few radio shows and think ten mins is a little lite but completely acceptable and welcome bc sometimes one needs to get a little fix and a ten min scene is just the ticket.
This wasn't a great soap -- especially in comparison to Somerset. NBC had a little more success with 'Texas', but 'Santa Barbara' was the next soap to last more than a year or two. It was loved by fans and critics, but never was a huge ratings winner.
This very first One Life to Live theme was always orchestrated from its inception, unlike its "sister" soap opera, General Hospital. And this very first theme and all musical score from One Life to Live and the very first theme and all music score from its sister soap opera, All My Children, also influenced the creation, recording, and production of its very iconic theme and all musical score from The Young and the Restless.
Barry DeVorzon, composer of that 1993-1999 theme from As The World Turns, was also a co-composer of the timeless Nadia's Theme from The Young and the Restless. Wasn't he?
Danny, actually pictured from left 👈🏻 to right 👉🏻 were three cast members of _Behind the Screen 💻,_ which was scheduled 📆 Friday nights 🌚🌚 at 11:30 🕦 pm Eastern on _The CBS Late ⏰ Movie 🎬_ under the description of this video 📼, Catherine Parks (who would later ⏰ be seen in movies 🎬🎬🎬, including _Looker_ [October 30, 1981], _Friday the 13th Part III_ [August 13 {Friday the 13th}, 1982] and the original _Weekend at Bernie's_ [July 5, 1989]) as Sally Dundee; Michael Sabatino _(_Days of Our Lives_)_ as Brian Holmby; and Janine Turner _(_Northern Exposure_)_ as Janie-Claire Willow. So, please 🙏🏻, fix 🔧 this error ⚠️ immediately. Besides, Loyita Chapel (aka Mrs. Robert S. Woods 🪵🪵), who played ⏩ Dory Ranfield Holmby, was not--repeat 🔃, was not--pictured in this video 📼.
Very haunting. To one person's point it was probably one of the reasons it was reviled by some. It's very hauntingly beautiful in my opinion. And the woman who sang it had a beautiful voice.
Thanks for sharing and showing a spin-off from the Perry Mason radio show broadcast when I was five months and 7 days old…😊! How times have changed…😅! Have a great day!
It's so pathetic that Steve was telling Rachel that he didn't want her, he didn't love her, yet she was clinging on to him anyway. Her self esteem was so low!
I remember my mother watching GL (and all the CBS soaps) when us kids were watching all the ABC ones, this was late 70's. I remember very well this version MINUS the vocals. Wow, this version (the vocals) is indeed creepy!
ABC Denver affiliate KUSA-TV (now an NBC affiliate), was not a carrier to ABC's Daytime Soap Opera "Loving" as "The Cosby Show" aired after "9 News at Noon" during the 1990-91 TV Season. But we did hear Johnny Mathis perform this theme as its title theme in 1990. And low ratings were cited as the reason for ABC's "Loving" to end its near 12 and a half year run with its series finale on November 10, 1995, as an ending of a Soap Opera we do miss.
Pure Gold ✨what a great scene. Go Mona give Phoebe her comeuppance. I loved after Mona and Dr. Tyler are married that Phoebe still refers to her as “That Kane woman”
And this is exactly why young girls do not tell about what happens when they are approached/groomed/molested by older men. The fear of situations like this happening and being told they are old enough to know better or old enough to know what they are doing, etc. Even when it happens to girls who are much younger. I forget how this situation got resolved. I know a couple months later or so Gail & Monica get close again. But I can’t remember exactly how it gets better.
My God... they really improved the opening/closing /bumper music by next year... this almost sounds like what you would hear from soap operas in the 1950s.
I remember this short-lived soap opera only vaguely, but what I have retained in my memory is the opening of the show. Seems it featured an artist's rendering of a city scape w/ tall building's and some birds in flight. The background, I believe, was a gray-blue color, all very modern looking. I understand that Patty McCormack was featured in this long ago program. Boy, what I would give to see an episode or two w/Patty featured in it! Such a beautiful girl she was, and fine actress too. I've asked a few people here and there about this soap, and no one seems to recall it. I even remember one called 'Love of Life' and another one, 'Sommerset'. And still another from around this period called 'The Secret Storm.' Boy, has the world changed! Not so many soaps these days......good ol' memories linger on. 📺😊
🎉 Retro TV greetings from coastal Mississippi. I remember the Peacock opening up in colour. You are now watching this in living colour. The Doctors. Madison, MA. Hope Memorial Hospital. 4/1/63-12/31/82.episides 5,155.
Uncle Charles Weldon that I am aware of was played by a character actor by the name of David Hooks. In IMDB he is listed at Charles Weldon #2. Ken (Bruce Martin) and I would often have lunches In Valley Village with David Hooks at Patsy's in Toluca Lake. They would often joke about the good times they had on "Edge" where Bruce/Ken's character murdered David's character. Ahhh! Such great memories.
