I removed the engine from my Stag about 18 years ago to change the chains and do some other work. I did the chains but somehow never got around to putting the car back together. Someday maybe.
Hey mate. Nice work. I'm thinking of doing the a tribute with our Stanza rally car. How're you going to source the roof spoiler? Do you have the colour codes for the red, yellow and blue?
what did you use to polish the aluminium wheels seems very quick the original turned surface finish was about 3.2 R a-μm -(microns) which was quite course so i rubbed it down to 0.4 R a-μm -(microns) then it would polish up to a good mirror finish but this took most of the day too do
Well done nice job , done a few auto boxes, quite simple really , the complicated valve block is static only holding springs and pistons , just clean and replace, any way , thanks for sharing ,
I bought triumph stag parts from rimmer brothers for years, and I normally found that it took seven days from the time I ordered to the time it was delivered, and i never had to pay GST or import duties🤔😀😀😀 I had three stags and the last stag I drove for 25 years, it was a 77 model in pemento red, I loved that car, I should have never have sold it !. 😢😢
I just bought a new inhibitor switch for the bw 65 in my stag. Same deal here in less than a week! No gst or import duties! It's funny after reading your story I still can't believe I got another after a 35 year break from stags. I hope you find yourself in another mate. Cheers
@@dustystuffgarage Thanks very much for the reply, I finished up buying myself a 1986 Mercedes 420SL, as lovely as the Mercedes was to drive, it didn't give me the same excitement as the Stag, and also the sound of the exhaust !.🤔
runs are my bugbear too! I've learnt to do a light sticky coat then pile it on, too much temptation to use up what's in the pot. STAG ALERT!!! red stag for restoration on a auction salvage site in the UK called 'Salvage Market' car in Oxford.
The stags a bit to far, but surprisingly enough a fair few pop up here in Australia, and yes to a sticky coat and then up the the feed on the gun. Cheers
@@dustystuffgarage ok cool, bugger 😪 happened to me about 3 weeks ago lost over 300 hrs of footage 😳 😢 least you can get back at it, hope it all works out for you 👊🇦🇺🤝🇦🇺🍻🍻
Looking good 👍 Quick question is the door mirror on the passenger side mounted the same distance back as the drivers side one? … gotta put one on my xb it never had a passenger side mirror 👍
Correct and neither did the black on black. But I ended up putting a passenger door mirror on as I kept scuffing the rear flare when parking in the garage. Also make lane changing etc a lot easier too.
I'd be offering to buy a new hard drive and tell them to keep the old one aside, then once you get your laptop back you can plug in the old drive and get the files.
Dusty INDEED! That stuff is diabolical. You'll be sneezing that stuff out for days. Good job tho! The devil is in the details and the paint is all about the prep.... which I hate. Looking good so far!
Clear is something I'm not that confident in using just yet. The movie car were closed door resprays. But your right it has come up fairly good considering I'm no professional spray painter. I'm really hoping for a dry spell as its been raining a lot. Cheers
It's nice that the gauges can actually be taken apart so you can get inside to clean them. I had a 78 Scirocco that you would have to go find gauges that weren't all faded or destroyed in a junkyard because you couldn't take them apart.
Was ironic listening to you talk about the manual conversion. When I was 18 I had an XC Fairmont exact colour as yours but sedan, and I also converted it from auto to Toploader. Yes I love Ford, how everything is interchangeable. I can relate to everything you said. Even 2nd gear snatches going down the gears. Speaking of fitment, I had a ZL Fairlane long ago, I did a Cleveland conversion, and the Clevo dropped in the exact position the EFI Crossflow once was (Clevo engine mounts), Same tailshaft, same BW35 crossmember held up the C4. Ford design team were rocket scientists. I love your cars Man! Keep showing them off!
Thanks mate. The xc will have its own episodes. But first I need the finish the xb sedan interceptor. I'm at the prep and paint stage now, also the weather plays a big part in that, so conditions have to be right. Cheers
Here in UK you can get BW 35s with j type overdrive bolted on the back. ,I have fitted to my stag , same top ratio as manual od ,for better cruising all you need is one electric switch , you can do it yourself by grafting the output shaft of the auto to the input shaft and fabricating steel tube in-between, it runs on the same atf fluid , or some jaguar autos had cable operated overdrive , cheaper and easier than zf , plus keeping the original bits and controls as standard ,,
My last stag in the UK was manual o/d. Thanks for the advice. Would love a 4th gear auto, but not ready to hunt one down yet. And I don't do a lot of motorway driving. And want to put funds into other items that need attention on the car. Cheers 🍻
Nice work on the Stag, must be very satisfying to achieve such a good result. Looking forward to the next video on the yellow interceptor. Must say, you have an excellent collection of cars
Hey mate, I am actually going to the mad max festival in a couple weeks and was disappointed to see you wouldn’t be out there… I was thinking of doing a drawing of the interceptor with Max standing beside it and selling it out there…
Sir U r my nu hero!! greetings from ny usa. 1st time c-ing ur channel. Do u have more content on the LPG dual fuel car? Wish u had shown the dash cluster & how the fuel switch over works. Maybe a nu vid? Cheers
No mate. I was new to the idea and didn't realise they did kits. But Gordon did make me a more screen accurate boot spoiler and front flares. The kit on my car is rod horner. The nose comes fitted like a glove on the mock up. Cheers
That's the Ducks Guts mate. Still 1 of the best trips/cruises I have been on. With You, Rod, Rita & Badger cruising to a heap of the locations mate. Good to see ya used a couple of my photos. Will hopefully get up for a visit 1day.
