I started Among the Lilies several years ago, after going through one of the hardest times of my life. My youngest son was born premature & almost died. Then shortly after that, I had a miscarriage & almost died myself. During my time recovering and healing from all that trauma, I was in a really dark place. In an effort to find joy and seek hope, I searched around for a Catholic podcast for women. I was frustrated and discouraged that all the podcasts I found were inauthentic and not relatable. From that place Among the Lilies was born. For me, it was my outlet to share my story and be real with people about where I was at and what I was struggling with. Since then, I'm still doing the same thing. . . sharing candidly and openly about pursing the heart of God, while trying to balance my marriage, kids, friends, and giant dog. I've absolutely loved sharing my story, as well as being able to share the stories of other amazing women who are tired of pretending and ready to be real.
There's a lot of problems with the standard diet (like gluten, lectins and food that's unnatural for us). But that doesn't mean all plant-foods will cause you problems. Have you tried God's original diet for humans? Fruit-based. Even a lot of carnivore-dieters are adding fruit now, because the carni diet is a dead-end. High-fruit eaters have a good history(when it's done right, yep). I've been doing it 30 years. The power in your diets are the getting away from the gluten, lectins etc, not eating high Protein & Fat.
A few years ago, I bought an unflavored soy free organic vegan protein that made my gut issues worse. It was delicious but I didn’t know that Lectin sensitivity and autoimmune disease was a thing. I can relative to the brain fog. Two years ago, I forgot what I was saying half way through a sentence. It was a scary feeling. I also forgot my phone number. I kept giving my husband and sisters’s number but I couldn’t remember my own! Thank God I’m better now.
Thank you so much, Cameron and Caroline. I was only thinking halfway through your video of recommending you to start your own videos on this topic😊 Delighted you are willing to help and advise us with your new channel🤗
Is there a book you would recommend? I don’t have any major health issues, but I do have small children, including a baby, that I want to feed well. I want to give them a good diet and healthy gut so that they may avoid health issues in the future.
Nourishing Traditions and the Weston A Price Foundation. And I would say as a rule of thumb, avoid giving them anything with dyes, artificial flavors, or seed oils to prevent health or behavior issues. There are so many wonderful real food options!
Please Ladies have common sense! your baby needs a balance diet. when your a baby your mother test foods to see how your body responds to it.. please do your own research. Your body changes when you are going menopause. I had to change my diet. it is just a fact of life.
Roast your bones in a 350 degree oven for 30-40 minutes before using them to make the bone broth. Greatly reduces the gross smell and makes the bone broth tastier!
I clearly have not had adequate protein, fat, sun and sleep today because my first thought reading this comment was "but you don't read audio books, you listen to them...." 😅
Not sure but I think only Caroline's microphone is turned on while your voice is being picked up by the camera? Not sure. Either way, looking forward to hearing the rest :)
Cameron, God definitely put you in my path. The past year I've been working with a rheumatologist for extreme joint pain and dislocations and they can't find a diagnosis that quite fits but MCTD is what they're leaning towards. I remembered seeing you on Pints with Aquinas and changed my diet recently because of it. It's made an impact with the swelling already. I'm still dealing with a lot of inflammation but I'm hopeful for the first time in a while.
Do you have another update on this? Thank you so much for sharing! You are the first person I've listened to speak about trying carnivore with a genetic disease.
How due process for men in college men rights are impacted in title 9 too just worried about women japans working on artificial wombs dont think stealing mens kids and kil$^ng them without men having a say men will find away
What about annulment. Years later it is declared the married never existed! How is that the right choice when initially I was discerning religious life/priesthood? So I chose one path as stated, the wrong path and it was abusive and almost destroyed me. Uhm... ya Seems like the better choice would have been the correct path in the first place, versus, turning around at the dead end later. Who needs Google Maps, just trial and error down all the dead ends first. Lol. Wow
Have you tried doing the liver detox from Andreas Moritz? It could be key for your health recovery. Also parasites cleanse. That would be a huge difference, if not your complete recovery.
No, but will look into... I've done some liver cleanses but haven't heard of Moritz. I actually haven't had any seasonally allergies since going carnivore.
I figured out that when I was hydrating obsessively in the summer, I was actually flushing OUT too many electrolytes and making myself worse. This is why people die from drinking too much water. Now that I am adding them to my water, it really helps. I use BUoY because it doesn't have additives.
I think it is probably more important to talk about beauty than about modesty. A woman should look a way that others would say 'Oh, she's beautiful', and not 'she's sexy', or whatever. Beauty is not easy to grasp in practical terms, but it is probably more helpful to impart into young minds than always telling the girls 'cover this, cover that'. I also think that looking well-groomed and dressing attractive is an act of love towards neighbor because no-one likes to look at someone with unwashed hair and dressed in a potato bag. I know, some Christian/Catholic girls think that the latter is what modesty is about, but it is not. God has given us our bodies to show His love and beauty towards others! That's what we should strive for as women.
Thank you for this beautiful talk, Sister! I've struggled with both sexual sin and hatred for sex since being violated by a guy I dated; I still can't think of being in a romantic relationship. It's so necessary to hear women talk about the lies and dangers of porn and masturbation, because they can look like havens when true intimacy seems unbearable.
My husband, was in another city(work related) was refused communion on the tongue, my husband remained kneeling, the priest scooted around him, my hubby remained on his knees. The priest looked over and said, you’re not gonna move are you?” My hubby, “Nope” He reluctantly gave him communion… but was totally ticked and stormed out after Mass. Just last Sunday, my husband happened to be at the same church- same priest outright and audibly told him he would NOT give him communion on the tongue. So my husband proceeded along got in another line and was given holy communion kneeling and in tongue by other priest. The priest who denied him gave him a look others in the church observed. An elderly woman stopped my husband while on his way out and shared her disgust at seeing my husband refused communion and declared she was going to notify the bishop. If nothing else, my hubby hopes to stir up a reverence revolution in these modern parishes. Code of canon law states that a person cannot be denied communion on the knees and on the tongue. Communion on tongue is the norm. This priest definitely has issues.
