It was life growing up. I remember many times going to the country church for my mom's baba, gido, and aunt and uncle for this. It grounded me to my roots and to the farm. These people were so resilient and strong.
Enjoyed this. Distant memories brought back. A Toronto long gone in many ways, Music choices must have been by a fellow classical music lover. Mozart, Tchaikovsky, Wagner, and more.
@@edmonton906 sir, Im crazy collector of old Hindi movies. I live in Canada. Maybe i can give you some title you may be looking for. Do you have Feroz Khan's Main Shaadi Karna Chala (962)
This was recorded for me in Ukraine Aug. 24, 1996. It is the actual parade. I believe this was the first independence parade and they eventually improved over the years.
"In 1569, Poland annexed the vast russian territory known as the Ukraine" - what nonsense is that? Ukraine has never been a part of Russia until the end of the 18th century
Good observation. Yes, Lorenzon would have fit the part perfectly. He is known to audiences outside Italy for the small but important part in The Good, The Bad and the Ugly. This version of Taras Bulba fell into total obscurity because of bad timing - released the same time as the popular US film Taras Bulba. I don't think it was ever released in theaters in the US. It was shown rarely on late night TV in the US in the 1970s under various titles including The Fighting Cossacks. I remember this film with the title The Plains of Battle. This was done to somehow distinguish it from the other Taras Bulba movie that everyone knew at the time. Hopefully, an original widescreen version of this film exists somewhere.
@@edmonton906 Thank you for Replying to my Comment. I think Livio Lorenzon is sadly Underrated. I'd never seen this Movie until 5 Days ago. I Own a DVD Copy of the Yul Brynner Tony Curtis Version. Sadly, I doubt either of Taras' Sons had a Brooklyn Accent. To me the Italian Version comes off as more Grand, especially during the Exterior Shots and the Battle Scenes.
Dear Ed. Monton: May I have your permission to use approximately fifteen seconds from your video of Eisenhower dedicating the Shevchenko statue? I’m creating a short film to celebrate the sculpture’s 60th anniversary this June. I’ve contacted the park service and amazingly, as of yet no event of any kind is planned. Hard to fathom, given what we see in your marvelous film. Of course, I will give you full credit. Also, if you know anything about the sculptor, Leo Mol, I am trying to find out if he has any living descendants. He was Ukrainian-born, but Canadian. Cheers, David Johansson
David, you can use a piece of this video. The film is now rare. The films on this channel are not monetized - I do not accept any payment. They are there to share rare films etc. collected by the archive so they could be seen and not just stored in an archive never to be seen again.
It is basically in the description. John Hodiak is appealing to the listeners (I assume this was only broadcast locally in the Chicago area), in 1948, to help the children and orphans (morally and materially) in the displaced persons camps in Europe - victims of World War II. His Ukrainian pronunciation is excellent and is the only recording I was able to find of him speaking Ukrainian. I should actually subtitle this (and get rid of the knocking sound you hear).
Thank you so much for the translation. And yes, I am an African-American woman and studied Russian and the Serbo-Croation people 50 years ago at The Ohio State University. I am 73. We kids had hopes for the world then. Thank.
LEARN REAL HISTORY!! The COSSACKS are mainly RUSSIANS of "LITTLE RUSSIA" (today called"Ukraina") LITTLE RUSSIA is the ORIGINAL RUSSIA and the CRADLE of RUSSIAN CIILIZATION (long before MOSCOW and even longer before SAINT PETERSBURG)
(Some comments are PARTIALLY CORRECT) MOST of the time the CRIMEAN TATARS allied with the Cossacks AGAINST the Poles-Lithuanians!! BUT some times the Crimean Tatars fought as "allies" of Poland (Poland-Lithuania) AGAINST the Cossacks and their RUSSIAN allies!!!!
A "good enough" adaptation of the classic Historical novel!! But it can't compare to the EPIC Hollywood version (which I have seen DOZENS of times!!!!)
This is a TOTALLY DIFFERENT Italian adaptation! I agree totally with you!! The Hollywood version with YUL BRYNNER, TONY CURTIS, and CHRISTINE KAUFMANN is much BETTER and more SPECTACULAR!!!!
