He literally said he was making a template at 1:20, but evidently, you didn’t understand him. Poor Freddy. He was probably thinking _”I already told him it was a template”._ 😂 By the way, nice build. I’ve always liked the ‘65-‘69 Corvair. I almost bought one in 2004(?). A local car museum was auctioning it off on ebay. I checked it out and took it for a test drive. It was in perfect condition with the exception of the paint. Unfortunately, when bidding, I tried to snipe it in the last few seconds, but got a technical error.
Yeah, Freddy tried to tell me. The crazy thing is I edited the video and left it in. Go figure. I've used sniping in auctions before, it gets really fun in the last few seconds.
@@JohnReynolds661 Yep, it’s like a gambling high. Luckily I don’t live near any casinos, otherwise I might be at the crap tables a lot just for the action.
@@AFTER_MIDNITE It made me laugh when ppl didn't know about sniping, thinking they were going to win only to have it snatched from them in the last 3 seconds.
Weird Your channel got dropped from my subscription. Hummmm. Very interesting. Luckily I caught this one and hopefully I stay connected. Amazing dash and the craftsmanship, as it is for the whole project is epic. Cheers and peace out.
Thanks, yeah, I don't know what's going on with YT. Even subscribers don't see my stuff sometimes.

Really enjoying watching the process. Very impressed by all of your skill sets, my guess is that you are a classic care freak who spent many years in the ship repair industry learning all of the structural and mechanical skills.
I'll let you deal with a harness. A simple 3 point harness is all I need to putt to the grocery store. I've had my fill of cumbersome 5 pt. harnesses in off-road race cars. This isn't a race car.
WoW! You are a master builder, man! In 1987, my first car was a '72 Super, but I got rear ended by a drunk driver. Then I got a '64 bug. I still have it and it's my daily driver.
When I shaved the drip rails on my '70 C10, I wanted a little bit of a rail and a stronger edge. I used 1/4" round rod and welded it into place via tack and move. Once done, I used a grinder to smooth and meld the ends to the sheet metal so that the rail sort of melted into/out of the body. You end up doing a lot of tack and move and inside edge grinding/sanding on the top side, but it gives a nice smooth look and a little drip protection when you roll the window down.
I hope this leather wrapping is being passed on to the next generation. It seems like for every 5 craftsmen that retire, only 2 take their place. Not a good sign for the future.
I’ve worked for years making low riders, lifted vehicles, drag cars, hot rods, tuner cars, pretty much any kind of modifications on vehicles even some motorcycles. The work on this is amazing thank you for sharing it. I just don’t know what else to say because so much has already been said about it, it’s just awesome.
Nice project John something different I like it I will be following …. Beautiful interior done by my best friend Freddy Arreola he has done two of my cars professionally……
Lol, I thought he was Hispanic too, but he’s Chino and apparently picked up the accent. 7:11 It’s funny how some Hispanics and Chinese people can pass each other.
Just some quick questions. Where did you learn auto mechanics? Were you also taught by a friend or family member? I’m a VW enthusiast, but I wish I knew how to do this type of restoration. I did own a red Subaru powered 1990 VW double cab DOKA TriStar. I think it had a WRX engine, but you can Google it. It has the 2 Hella fog lights up front.
I had an interest and curiosity when I was young which started with go-carts, minibikes, motorcycles and eventually 4x4s. Off road racing built up a lot of structure and fabrication skills which I use on my street car projects. Mostly self taught by trail and error.
Thanks for Sharing with us. Freddy is a true craftsman you don't find very many people with that kind of talent everyday. He did a great job and I really like the design and color scheme you did and chose!
These guys are treasures! Craftsman! Soon they’ll all be gone. This world doesn’t appreciate these arts anymore. We’ve become a complete throwaway world. Buy cheap, throw it away! It really sickens me. China? I’d have said, Cuban, his accent sounds Spanish, he looks Spanish.
Damn John, I’m ecstatic about this car coming together in its final stages. When complete, I think you should have a website with a full gallery of professional photos to showcase this car in its full glory. I’m as excited about this car as any Foose or Kindig car out there.
