So glad I found this guy and 38 and literally want to go back to school to get into social work I have a half credit to transfer from back in the day community college thank you for the inspiration
It's 2021 and I am 49 years old - I cannot believe that I am considering going to college. Your video share and mention of 50 and 60 year old's gave me such a tremendous boost! Thank you for sharing your journey.
Ensure the school is REGIONALLY accredited. This is the highest standard of education in the US. Typically, NATIONALLY accredited schools, such as vocational and tech schools, inhibit you from transferring credits. Reputable schools are regionally accredited. I'm an admissions counselor with 11 years experience.
This post is timely & insightful. Great message. If it doesn’t nourish you let it got. “ don’t hold on to anything that is not holding on to you”... ❤️
So proud of you! Congratulations on your achievements. I’m 46 and considering 6 years of college to realize my dream of becoming an Architect. It will then be 4 more years to become licensed, am I crazy? I wish you success and an abundant life.
Thank you so much! Absolutely not!! You are not crazy. It’s YOUR dream and YOUR life. I figure, the time is going to pass anyway - And regret is too heavy a price to pay. I wish you all the best! Go for it sister👍🏾
Hello I’m 40 and planning to start IT school next year probably as a part time student . I’m afraid things might get difficult because of my age and the time it will take me to finish the program.
Hi! I understand. I was terribly afraid at first. I decide to take one step at a time. e.g. 1. gather information 2. speak with advisors .....and so on. Before I knew it, I as at day one of classes. I think you will be surprised at how many "mature" people are going back to school. I'm sure you'll be fine. I wish you the very best! Keep us posted.
I had people tell me how I am too old to go back to college. I just turned 57 years old and I want to go back and finish my degree. I'm only a sophomore This young lady told me (while sitting in my math class) that I should drop out of Kent State University and go to a vocational school and learn a trade. She said that I was too old. I got upset. I want to finish college. Even my family is against me.
Hi Maurice. Thank you for subscribing to my channel and watching my video. I am sorry that you’ve experienced such discouraging feedback from people. My thoughts are that this is YOUR life and only YOU are responsible for doing what makes you happy. Sometimes people are well meaning and unaware how hurtful their words and actions are. But that is their journey. You have your own. Do what is in your heart to do. I wish you all the best. Keep me posted🤗
@@TheSpiritLife705 you for those kind words. After looking at your video, I always wanted to go back to college. Right now I used to attend Kent State University. I'm looking to transfer to either Ohio State, Purdue, or one of the HBCUS. My major is Computer Engineering with focus on Computer Science. You really motivate me. Thank you Thank you. Btw what college did you graduate from?
I found u after a YT search, "going back to school at 40", and I think I've watched all ur videos since that journey. Your story really encouraged me in that not only did u continue to pursue ur dreams in a season when most feel it's too late but you still didn't give up when the life you knew at the time changed dramatically (divorce). I too, hope to be a counselor one day (I'm 40 still working toward the degree) and I also hope to be as fearless and determined as you are to continue evolving into the new me required to conquer every new season.
@@e1culb Thank you so much for supporting me and your kind words! I REALY appreciate you. Yes, what a journey it has been so far!!! I wish you all the best ~ May all that you hope for be yours.
Hello Spirit! Nice to meet you! I work in mental health too and I would also say I am a spiritual person too. I will come back and watch your videos, I am in the middle of something but you sparked my interest. I feel we have so much in common, I was 18 too when I got married too! I look forward to hearing your podcast. Best of luck in your new endeavor! Trudy
Thanks for the motivation. I’m a 39 year old high school dropout and I’ve decided to head to school for a bachelors (in Psychology!) at the minimum. I’m set on going, but feeling a lot of anxiety about it at my age, and you’ve eased some of that. Thank you sincerely.
I did while I completed my bachelors. But being a business owner definitely made all of it easier than it would have been working a regular 9-5. Thank you for your comment :)
I'm 41, work full time, single and I've been wanting to go back to school, but then my mom had terminal cancer, my dad had a quadruple bypass then when I thought things were stable so I could try again my dad had 2 strokes back to back so now he's completely dependent on me so I don't think I can go back to school now. It sucks. But I don't even know what I would want to major in. I've bounced from military to fire department to sheriff's department so I really don't know what I'd want to do or what I should go for. I don't know anything really about the private job sector.
I'm so sorry about your mom and dad. When you are ready, maybe check out online classes. I just might be easier for you since you attend classes from home and you have wider options for school choices. I wish you all the best & thank you for reaching out.
Thank you for sharing your experience. I turned 48 in August and started back to college 2 days later! I only had one college credit that transferred. I’ve been a substitute teacher for 12 years and decided to go back so I can teach full time. I’m excited about my journey. One of my students is actually in my English class.
I am 33 and what to get my master's. It's already been 10 years I have finished my bachelor's. I m earning quite well , but I feel there is something more to get done. I feel anxious of myself and fear people's judgement. I feel scared and overwhelmed.
I understand where you are coming from. I've come to learn that some people will judge no matter what you do. That is something they will have to work on within themselves. You may as well do what feels right for you. I was so scared when I went back. I thought the work would be too difficult...I was too old..It was too expensive. I found that I was much smarter than I had thought. For me, completing college was a huge confidence booster. I encourage you to go after what you want for your life, even if you are scared... #NoRegrets :)
I need some support too , I'm 44 years. But I still eager to learn. I want to be a teacher since I was 7. Money is always the hindrance. Now my father has died , the responsibility is on me. I think I would never achieve my dream.
Hey you have my support! Who do you have in your life that will encourage you...kids, family, friends, YOU? Sometimes all we have is ourselves, and we find that that is all we need to get us to the next phase of our lives. When I decided to look into going to college, I was so scared and apprehensive. Money was a concern for me too. I almost cancelled my appointment. Then I told myself that it is only an appointment to learn more about the program, that's all. Just one step. ....the rest is history. I wish you all the best. Thank you for reaching out! :)
Find yourself some allies. People will try and push you towards safety over happiness. I’m 45 and planning to go back but it’s taken me five years to get the guts to take the plunge.
I agree with Steph_is45andAlive! Your family may have fears of their own. It's ok. Create a tribe of support for yourself, starting with YOU. You can do this!
This is very inspiring, thank you!! I'm 38 and considering going to college for the first time! It's a daunting thought, so thank you for helping make it seem more like a real possibility!!
