I am not sure if you read comments anymore but I see McMaster has 1095 spring steel shim stock available in two different hardnesses B90 (annealed) and C50 (hardened). Which would you recommend? And what types of thicknesses of stock would you recommend for different types of saws (sash, carcass, dovetail, tenon, etc) Also: If you make your own folded saw back from some steel angle, is mild steel sufficient to use? I saw some people using mild steel but I noticed that badaxe uses carbon steel for their folded backs.
I just love the tool cabinet, the whole thing is absolutely outstanding and I hope that one day I too will have the skills to be able to make something very similar and just as important to me as this is to you!!! As always buddy 💯% 👍 🇬🇧.
When showing items in front of the camera, did you ever consider maybe holding your hands still for a brief moment to allow the viewer a chance to actually see the details you're describing? I suspect it's a result of a kind of nervous tension when filming the video. But it is a bit annoying.
Nice shop, entertaining tour. Love the wood collection and the adapted clamp stands. CDs? Wow. Same generation as your cameras. Five years after the fact, I’d love to see a new tour with a modern camera that induces less motion sickness. iPhone 14 cinema mode.
Wonderful instructional video. Perfect amount of instruction and examples without the need to try to be funny (funny is a skill ill suited to many RU-vidrs).this video made me subscribe.
There is so much useless information and verbal diarrhea in this mans videos,. It could about 5 minutes shorter if he didn't over do on descriptions that are totally useless.
Ok first of all this is an absolute piece of mastery. You are a true artist. It's not even my style but I feel inspired to try some of these techniques. Second of all nice save ferris shirt!
My god man. Its beautiful! Stuff like this gives me inspiration to push myself to get better at woodworking. This is what I really want to do and maybe, if I'm lucky, and work hard enough at it, I can do it for a living one day
I’ve watched this probably 5 times. I really think you are amazing. I will be making a few saws. I have some ideas. I hope one day to let you know how much inspiration I took from you!
I Know this is an old video and I know he has grown a lot, but I think you should reach out to Alec Steele and ask him to give you a couple of mokume gane and Damascus buttons for those medallion nuts. If not him, then someone else in the space. We - craftspeople - really have to get Interconnected, especially the prominent online figures. There is a lot of overlap between the work of a blade smith and a woodworker. There is a lot of overlap between a cane maker and a jewler.
Hope you are keeping well Brian, I am sure many would like you to be making saws when you are 127+ but we understand. Mine is working well, currently in a shared stable with one of Rob's... all the best from down under mate..
I came here to learn about how to cut saw teeth. That explanation was beyond A. W. E. S. O. M. E., and the only detailed explained found. But I also thoroughly enjoyed the other details. Great stuff!!
