Hello, my name is Ash and I'm a Canadian student who decided to leave home (Canada) and pursue my passion of veterinary medicine!
Currently, I am studying at the University of Zagreb, in beautiful Croatia. ☼
This channel will be about my journey through vet school, but will also include many tutorial videos covering some of the topics that we'll be covering throughout the next few years. Thanks for watching!
Ruminants have Four Stomachs. Abomasum kills Bacteria with Stomach Acid and Passes Directly to the Small Intestine. By the way, Stomach is Abomasum Part.
Yeah, there's always a way. You have to do equivalency exams that would show you're at the same level as vets graduating in Canada/US. Not the most efficient way to go about it, but it's definitely possible.
Great video. I'm a bit confused by the way the intestines all seem to sit on the right side; what is filling up the space on the left? Why is the anus on the left rather than centered? Thanks so much.
Hi Gwen, Regarding the L and R directions, they're important to highlight where the GI tract crosses the median plane. So, for example, it's not to say that the anus is on the left, but that the digesta moved from R --> L in the transverse colon before arriving at the anal canal. Then, drifting back to center where we see the anus. Hopefully that helps!
Hey Carmen, that's a great question. Currently it is not, but it is accredited by the European commission (EAEVE) which means that after graduation you can practice anywhere in the EU - France, Portugal, Germany, Spain, etc. Of course, you could still return to Canada or the US but will need to sit the equivalency exams (ECFVG I believe?). Hopefully before I graduate we will have worked on the AVMA accreditation part too 🙂.
@@vetabroad4884 Thanks you! Did you look at other abroad programs like Australia or Budapest? What made you decide croatia if you looked at other schools?
@@carmencarrillo5900 Yeah actually, I looked at both those options. I applied to Melbourne thinking I'd figure out the expenses of studying there if I received an offer. I did end up getting an offer for admissions, but the costs were ridiculously expensive (as are most AVMA schools) so I declined that option. Budapest I didn't apply to because they were asking for an entrance exam, and to be honest, I'm so over writing entrance exams to prove my worth/knowledge on some standardized test. Otherwise, I applied to: Ireland - offered Scotland - interviewed but no offer Carribean - offered Canada - no offer Zagreb - offered Melbourne - offered Let me know if you have other questions!
@@vetabroad4884 Thank you for answering my questions! Do you know what entrance exam Budapest asked for, is it like the GRE or something equivalent (I am American) also if I am correct the other schools that you applied to you didn't need an entrance exam right? Ireland and Melbourne follow the AVMA
@@carmencarrillo5900 I'm not too sure about the entrance exam but I know they had one and that it was more similar to an SAT because students are entering out of high school. As for the others, they did not have entrance exams.
Hi, welcome to the vet journey. I'm going to start my vet med journey next September too. Love to connect and grow together. Do you want to make an interview video about your experience?
