Nerdtronic = Robotics, Automation, Arduino and Raspberry Pi Projects, LED Projects, Practical uses of 3D Printing, Motion Control, and Garage Filmmaking.
Not to be confused with NerdRotic. Nerdrotic is a different channel about comic book and pop culture. It's annoying that when you search for "nerdtronic" you get nerdROTIC and not nerdtronic. But he does have a million more subs than me so ¯\\_(ツ)_/¯
Your vids are so helpful and clearly explain things for a newbie like myself. Ordered my first 3D printer (Saturn 4 Ultra) and I'm excited to get into this hobby! Subscribed and thank you.
A couple of tips, the grey residue that sinks to the bottom of the uncured dirty resin is just the pigment, not the photo monomer. Since the photo monomer is still liquid, it is also passing through the filter with the alcohol (unless the charcoal is doing something I'm not aware of, although your results suggest otherwise). The jelly like substance after you cured the alcohol is actually a resin/alcohol matrix; it's actually possible to mix it enough that the matrix gives up a bunch of the alcohol and becomes a pulp like substance, you can also squeeze out the pulp to release a bunch more alcohol. It should also be noted that simply filtering/straining the uncured alcohol doesn't solve any of the issues of dirty resin, since it doesn't remove the photo monomer which will still give your models that tacky feel. Any IPA recycling set up must include a way to remove the uncured monomers or the cured polymers and is why the best setups I've seen involve pumping the alcohol through clear tubing wrapped in UV LED tape and then filtering it through 10" whole house water filters.
Hello, very clear explanation and easy to understand video! I am making a similar content in Vietnamese for people in my country to learn about the technology and resin 3D printing, can I use some of the scenes in your video to provide better explanation in my content?
Great video! Best ive seen on the subject. I wish I could get into the hobby but I dont have a natural place to store and use the printer in my home. :(
We now have access to 3d printers that have filament systems to print different colors. Do you think it's possible to build a 3d printer that also paints the print rather than using different colored filaments? I don't know if anyone has done this before but it seems like a worth while venture to me.
5:10 Personally, I prefer Elegoo. They have some very good quality machines, icluding FDM printers in the Neptune line. I am currently using their Neptune 3 Pro and Mars 4 Ultra. The Mars series has some budget friendly products and is perfect for beginners.
Thanks for the info. I'm trying my first filtering job. I allowed it to settle and then tried to leave most of the contaminates behind. Then, I put the alcohol in jugs and left them in the sun for ~16 hours. The plan is to pour what remains, through cheesecloth and see what I have. I hadn't thought of the method you mention and I'll be placing an order to Amazon shortly. :) BTW I'm visiting my local fire department because I'm considering using a distiller. So far, it will be at least 25 feet from any dwelling. It will be contained in either a steel worksite box or an order oven. Personally, I'm leaving towards the oven. That way, if there is combustion, it will be contained. Thanks again for the great info.
you can remove methanol if the high concentration messes with your chemical process by heating it up to 65-77C (depending on the ratio of loss vs methanol reduction you need.) this doesn't remove the denatonium, and produces methanol vapor so you'd need to go outside and have something to capture the methanol though for consumption you'll be better off bringing fermented sugar water to a distillery.
RE: From the U.S. Mint - In my research it indicates they used much larger originals and had a special mechanism with a pencil then guide - possibly a type of lathe or grinder transferring as one moved at much smaller detail while hand tracing the larger blueprint... that took it from originals size to coin size, and etched it - then they could get the detail with closeup eye ware a meticulous process, yet they started large to get the smaller detail corrected before the reductions.
can you wrap the filter in kitchen paper towel or whatever you're using to clean the gunk from the filter? that could maybe help catching most gunk in the towel paper...
Question to anyone: i had a water alkalizer but some how the thing sprung a leak and the circuit board just looks like it has lime scale and the thing wont work at all... Is there someplace that could fix the thing. I don't have the know how and the thing was too expensive to only have for a year or so and forget about.
Very interesting. Question though, what happens to the left over resin in the printer after a print? Do you pour it back into the bottle? Or does it have to be thrown out?
The info about the ipa is wrong. The smell of the ipa is just that, the smell of ipa. I’m a pharmacist and i have 99.9% pure ipa, it still has the distinct smell. No matter how much you try to filter it, you won’t get rid of it. It was not denatured during prohibition with methanol and bitters or whatever to make it undrinkable because ipa is undrinkable anyway. In fact, ethanol is the only alcohol fit for consumption. All other alcohols are poisonous. Ethanol was denatured so the government could tax alcohol for consumption without having the same tax on ethanol meant for other purposes than drinking. Edit: your filter setup should have an exhaust in the lower bucket. This way the air can escape and be replaced by the ipa. Without the exhaust the ipa has a hard time going through the filter and into the bucket because of the pressure inside the lower bucket.
HELP !.....I live in Orlando florida area and I have a brand new phrozen mega 8K and my prints constantly fail....im using phrozen aqua vanilla resin....I used to use phrozen aqua model gray and the prints were worse....anyhoo,...my prints are soft on detail and if I try and print multiple guaranteed failures....... Iam not using anti-aliasing.....I have tried exposure times from 2.5 to 7 and my bottom exposure time is from 30-33....my bottom layer count is 8.0 and my layer height is .50.....I have checked my build plate and the machine for level and I am right on the money....my print orientaion is tilted back about 30 degrees and tilted sideways at 15 degrees.........what the hell am I doing wrong ?
Hi i just find your videooo. Because I was having trouble printing some stuff. And this video helped me a lot. But I had a problem I printed one piece facing away the platform and other piece facing the platform….and I realized that the one facing away the platform the details are better on the surface but in the other hand it didn’t fit where it was súpito fit….and the second piece I printed facing the platform lost a little bit of details but it fit perfect to the surface it was supposed to fit…..so that triggered a question ? Is it possible the fit changes depending if it’s facing the plate?
Sir, would it be possible if you can do a updated video on Chitubox V2.0, in the area of Tolerance, Shrinkage, and Anti-aliasing. I really like to get your thoughts on this. Great video, thank you.
Bro…the smell from isopropyl alcohol is not something you can filer away…it is molecules of IPA evaporating and floating around in the air that your nose is detecting in the air…second…those filters are designed for water and filtering normal, relatively clear and mostly clean water. Essentially tap water that you want to filter out chlorine smell/taste, dissolved minerals etc. Filtering relatively clean water gets you get the “rated for 1000 gallons” number. You might as well be filtering swamp water/muck. The number of gallons you get to run through a filter is going to be far less due to clogging up.
Overexposure is not the only culprit of elephant's foot. There is little time for resin to settle after the build plate has entered the resin, positioning itself as the next layer is exposed. Some printers allow per layer settings and can be tuned with UV tools
The T was just an easy to understand example of a clear overhang instead of using more complex models that might be confusing or harder to explain with.
So I've just found out that I may be allergic to Nitrile gloves, or the accellerant they use in the making process. My fingers all get puss/liquid filled bubbles under the skin which then rise to the top, the skin hardens and then cracks (super painful). What other gloves can I use?? thanks in advance
So I have found out that I am having very serious reactions to Nitrile gloves, to the point my fingers blister with puss/liquid under the skin, then they harden and crack. What other gloves could I use?? thanks in advance
