My videos show on the water fishing action as well as educate the viewers on the techniques and tips I use to find and catch fish. I fish inshore on a 24 foot bay boat and offshore on a Grady-White Gulfstream. I post at least one new video each week, so please subscribe with the notification bell on so that you won't miss upcoming videos. We want you to be a part of our growth of the channel!
Thanks! I remember what it was like after Hurricane Michael and without outside help it’s impossible to rebuild. Yes Stephen doing good, hopefully last surgery for a long time!
We should begin groundbreaking in November on our second home not far from the Bay City lodge. Once finished, it will become our primary home and we will become locals, instead of tourists. Thanks for checking it out.
HELP!! I come down every year last week of October. I’m considering canceling this year due to the weather you are getting. What is your opinion? Should I wait and make the trip from Ky at a later time?
You should be fine to come. This storm looks like (right now anyway) that it will be to the east of us so we shouldn’t have long lasting impacts. We aren’t planning to evacuate. But things can change. If this storm is a cat 3 or higher and turns more west and we get the north eastern edge of it then we will evacuate. But in any case by end of October things should be fine.
This is the first video that I’ve ever found of someone posting an Avenger Bay runner. I have a 21 just like yours. I live over in the Fort Walton Beach area. Originally I’m from Louisiana where these were built so we were very very familiar with them over there. It is such an underrated boat. It is built like a tank and solid as a rock. Most people don’t know this but the stringers and transoms in these boats are all composite. Good to see another one out on the water as they are getting to be pretty rare these days. Thanks for sharing and tight lines!!
Thanks! Agreed! Great boats, and perfect for what I now do over in Florida. Have you checked out their new boats now that they are built in the Carolina’s? New owner but seems like they kept the great things about the old ones, just modernized them a bit. Mine is a mid 90’s and still as solid as a rock. Thanks for watching!
@@forgottencoastfishing Yes I have seen them. They are not even remotely the same. A man named John Pabst Originally started them in New Orleans. He built them for about 25 years and then after Hurricane Katrina he never really fully recovered. He then sold the molds to Mike Butler who owns Venice marina in Venice Louisiana. Mike then sold them sold the molds To Carolina composites who currently owns it. The new ones are very nice boats but the two are completely different. By the way yours is a 21. They only made a 21 and an 18. I don’t know if you have a Facebook page but I have a brochure that I can send you and it gives a ton of literature if you’re interested.
I really appreciate this video. Currently looking at a used 2005 and trying to work out a deal. How well does this boat perform in 2-3' seas and in chop? How is your fuel consumption?
Thanks, glad you enjoyed the video. This boat does really well in the standard 2-3ft seas. I can still usually go at least 20mph without banging. I can usually keep my fuel consumption between 1.5-2 mpg. I don’t run it hard and keep my eye on the consumption and ride to keep it in that range. Let me know if you think of anything else
@@forgottencoastfishing I appreciate your response. Your reported mpg's is better than I would have thought. if all goes well I'll have this boat soon. Do you know how many hours these motors will typically last as long as they are properly maintained? I think the boat I am looking at will likely need a repower in a few years as the current engines have 1550 hours on them.
It corroded a hole through one of the outside walls of the exhaust channel and was blowing hot exhaust air under the cowling. My mechanic said I also had corrosion in other areas and not worth trying to weld which often times doesn’t work. So I found the same engine , but it had water in the fuel system so I had to get that all cleaned out. But so far so good and in the end I think I came out ahead.
Nice day! I have a RU-vid channel in St Augustine and visit the area you fish for work. Maybe we could do a collaborative video together one day? Enjoy your videos! Thanks Greg
Just a request. Could you make some video footage of you running in that rough water? Im thinking of purchasing a 232, but not alot of videos that shows how it handles in rough seas. Thanks.
Unfortunately the GoPro doesn’t do the rough water justice and it always seems to look less rough. But I’ll tell you what I’ve noticed. It can handle the chop and rough water rally well for not such a big boat. I don’t like to bang and I am usually able to go at least 20mph when it’s decently rough. It’s still not a huge boat and you feel it’s size at times but for its size it does really well. I like the boat since it’s small enough for me to handle by myself, doesn’t take a fortune to take it out, but big enough to feel extremely safe offshore. Hope that helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.
Man I wish I could go fishing with you some time! I love fishing the gulf. I live in Ohio so I don't get to do it very often. I fish a lot here in Ohio and we will be down in a couple weeks fishing out of MS. Hoping Snapper opens back up for when we are down there!
Mississippi has some great fishing. It’s been 30 years or so since I’ve fished there and I’m sure things are a bit different, but there are a lot of options with the marsh areas as well as the rigs offshore. Hope you have a great time! Thanks for watching!
When I use chum which is not that often, I just use the frozen type you can buy. But this trip that was some carcasses of some prior fish I caught. I was mostly taking it out to dump it out there but just put it in the bag for the day just in case it helped, who knows? But I’m thinking I might figure out an easy way to grind up the carcasses and add some menhaden oil, and oats or some recipe i come up with, freeze that and sort of use chum more often. We’ll see.
Enjoyed the show. Anyway you could show a map of the area your fishing? I haven't been off shore fishing in a while, when I did it was off PC and Mexico Beach. I did go off Carreabelle and Fort Walton before. Loved every time I went out on the big water. Thank you for the great show.
I’m just fishing the public reefs off the coast of Mexico beach. Go to the MBARA association website. There you can get a lot of info on the reefs including an sd card for your gps with all the reefs pre loaded. Glad you enjoyed the video, thanks for watching!
Thanks! Wish they were in season, very good eating! The best thing that works for me in the bay, whether it’s hot, cold, rainy whatever, is don’t stick with one thing too long. Try different lures, colors, depths, etc until you figure out something that works. I’ve felt sometimes I’ve wasted a lot of time doing the same thing over and over hoping the fish would start biting.
Another awesome video. Got a moon phase question for you. Do you notice a difference in trying to hold a spot or dropping rigs straight down during a full moon and half moon with stronger currents compared to between full and new?
Thanks! Yes definitely if there’s a stronger tide and faster moving water I may go up to 8oz just to keep the line headed straight down. I like to use the smallest weight I can to get it to the bottom with it mostly going straight down. So for me that’s typically between 4-8oz.
Definitely hopeful after getting these red snapper. Hoping with the upcoming cooler weather the red snapper will pick up. Last fall was really good so hoping for the same!
Thanks! I edited a lot of it out, but you might notice the camera shifting….the triggerfish were almost constantly biting the camera….like a bunch of bullies! 😂
Yeah. I cut them up for bait for future trips. Check out my video a couple videos ago, “ how I caught my personal best Bonita” I show how I clean them and cut them into strips.
Thanks! Glad you enjoy the videos. I kinda doubt the Mahi will still be around. Within about 50 miles anyway. But the red snapper and gag grouper bite should be good by then.
Thanks glad you enjoyed the video. Those aren’t stainless steel hooks, I don’t use stainless hooks since I want them to rust out if I get a break off plus it’s illegal.
It looks delicious. I’ll have to get my scallops at Costco Unfortunately not anything against Costco it’s the the cats pajamas but fresh scallops would be way better.
They used to be so many scallops in the bay. We would take an old inner tube and wrap it around a number 3 washtub, and inflate it. We'd drag it across the shallow flats at the head of the bay and typically fill it up with bay scallops. This was when it really was the "Forgotten Coast".
Yeah that’s what I’ve heard. I only scalloped once more than about 20 years ago, but my wife and her family tell the same story from the 70’s and 80’s!
Just down the road from you in Callaway. Gotta love those BG reels! You should come over and fish East Bay! You gonna make a video catching scallops? Won't be long!
Awesome! You’re right about east bay! I’ve fished it a couple times in the winter, it’s an easy ride for me launching at overstreet. Yes definitely going to do a scallop video! And hopefully a catch and cook. Thanks for watching!
