Tell me you didn’t get the point of the religious themes without telling me. The villains of the series are religious zealots. Christianity is the least metal thing there is. It’s cringe. It’s the cult for boot-licking sheep and takes advantage of their fear of their own impermanence.
They ARE human. The same way you and neanderthals are both humans. The same way erectus and florensiensis are both humans. They're just a different species of human.
To be honest, I much prefer CN, Disney, ABC, CBS, and NBC cartoons from certain eras. But, the only time I like Nickelodeon is when I watch Danny Phantom, The Wild Thornberrys, Chalkzone, The Rugrats, and Hey Arnold. If anything, I consider Hey Arnold to be like the Lion King of Nickelodeon.
"bungie & 343 made some missteps" yeah you mean 343, I'm sick and tired of people claiming that "humans were never forerunner in the lore!" or "bungie changed it with the terminals in halo 3" stfu, you can use common sense from the dialogue in the first 3 games but there are plenty of videos explaining in detail if you wanna go over every stupid detail of the lore
I never got the sense that the Gundam pilots were disposable and sent on a kamikaze mission. I think the creation of the Gundams and their missions were last ditch efforts by the colonies to disrupt the Earth government and slow down their inevitable complete takeover of the colonies.
@@PoppaCYS I feel ya, but the original Operation: Meteor had the pilots mostly serving as a distraction while a colony drop happened. Their purpose wasn’t to slow down the takeover of the colonies, that was already the case. Their job once the pilots and scientists decided to go AWOL in protest of the original plan was to destroy OZ. We know for a fact that they are mission critical and valuable assets, but like all soldiers are disposable if the need arises, for example when Une aims missiles at a colony, Dr. J basically tells Heero to destroy the Gundam and himself with it (although he seems to have always been a bit self destructive). The point is that, like any soldier, their lives are secondary to the mission and the cause.
Funny, I hate when someone does a deep dive yet doesn't do the basic research of how to even pronounce things. Well this guy seems like he can pronounce most Japanese words as they should be, but pronouncing the word anime itself has eluded him.
@@Hojson Thanks for stopping by and commenting! The Japanese pronunciation “anime” isn’t pronounced the way we say “animation”. It’s a cool bit of linguistics because Japanese only has 5 vowels sounds! They CAN make the “A” sound as in “apple” or “animation” by fusing together two vowel sounds エァ but “アニメ” just uses the simple form of their A equivalent which is pronounced “ah”. 🙂
7:45 you say a would be “shogo assassin” tries to get him. I think he was actually set up by the dude that sold him out in the end. That’s why he left him and insisted the split apart right before Well he prob was shogun but I think he was set up by that dude is what I’m getting at
@@ryang4059 Hey thanks for stopping by and commenting! Izuka had betrayed Kenshin and the Choshu to Shogunate forces. Even if Izuka actually mediated the assassin, he was acting on behalf of the Shogunate and therefore the assassin was a Shogunate assassin. Also, in the OVA, there’s mention that the man was Oniwaban while in the manga he was Yaminobu which were Shogunate “ninja”.
I think it’s extremely funny how the Seven Samurai are brought up… Only for there to be a piece of Gundam media to literally make its own version of it. The moral of the story here? Animate Crossbone Bandai.
I’m so happy to hear that! I love when viewers tell me they’re going to rewatch something I’ve discussed with new eyes. It means I did my job lol. Have a great rewatch. Hope you’ll stop by again and tell us what new things you noticed!
The cadence here and shrill voice makes this difficult to sit through. Information and video editing is top notch but damn was that robotic and tonally anxious
Nothing wrong with looking back on things from your formative years every once in awhile! Hope the video gives you something to think about on your next rewatch. Have a great day!
I appreciate the kind words! It was great to revisit such a pivotal part of many of our childhoods. If you enjoyed it, I have a few other vids which you might enjoy so I hope you’ll stop by and take a look! Have a great day!
Great analysis. Though I disagree with a few of your perspectives (mostly because I interpret some ideas differently), this is a great analytical breakdown of a series I hold in very high regard. To this day, I apply some of the philosophical points in the series in my life. Also, great quote from Robert Heinlein. Starship Troopers is my favorite book. I still go back and re-read it from time to time. Thank you for creating this video. I realize it's over a year old. I'm glad the algorithm pulled it into my feed.
Thank you for stopping by and commenting! For sure, I’m not saying mine is the only interpretation so I’m always happy to hear from you guys about how you view the work. Meeting of the minds with people who love the same media is a lot of fun! That ST quote is a pretty good one. I love the novel as well and have been working on my next script which is discussing it! I hope you’ll take a watch when I finish. Until then, the YT channel Knowing Better did an excellent video on the topic so I hope you’ll check him out and tell him I sent ya!
Thanks for taking my favorite show when i was a kid seriously. Ive always felt this show deserved a deep dive, its got its flaws and camp for sure but it does a lot right and i love it to this day.
It’s got a lot to love and a lot to laugh at. It’s sort of peak 90s. I hope this vid inspires you to do a rewatch and view the show from a new standpoint. Have a great day!
from philippines, watch it first back in 98.. and rewatch it as an adult in 2010.. as an adult, the story is so realistic on our current government status.. you could do a parallelism about it.. the colonies is the people, the alliance (united earth) is the government.. and the OZ is the part of the government that is the opposition who is trying to destroy the democracy and change it into communism...
That scene, where Wing Custom spreads its wings out. You know the one It’s permanently burned into our minds It will never NOT be cool It’s eternal It’s imagery that is simply ahead of its time
