Just another example of unwarranted ds2 hate. In what world is demon's souls better than ds2. It's also baffling you even went so far to give it it's own rank. Rome the classic should be S and Warhammer 2&3 should be A. Warhammer is just awesome cause its Warhammer,not cause its a good total war game.. i find the battles rather bland.....like I'm missing unit formations. rock paper scissors is not strategy....i just end up with a mass of soldiers...fighting a mass of soldiers. all the time.
as someone who loves bloodborne i thought your reasoning around it was understandable , but honestly lost me with ds3. it’s the blueprint for any dark souls formula game moving forward, hell even elden ring takes so much from ds3. the second health bars were introduced, the most polished and speedy gameplay and ashes of wars, the healing system, it’s even the first souls game that focused on bosses which sekiro and elden ring take from and even little things like being able to respec your stats and modify your character. it’s truly the foundation of fromsoft moving forward, i think giving brownie points to ds1 (which i would too) is fine until you don’t take into account what ds3 did.
Maybe it's just because I prefer the melancholy dark fantasy of other souls games more than gothic victorian horror of BB but I agree that when I played through BB my impression was "pretty average souls game, not the best but not the worst." It isn't bad but I do think it gets over hyped a lot by people who just really like the aesthetic of it. I also could be biased since I absolutely HATE the finite healing aspect where the start of the game always feels grueling and all but a couple bosses towards the end feel trivial after that if you just hoard a stockpile of vials going into a boss.
They are gonna be making money off of it because more TW fans who skipped Pharaoh bc of the pre-update reviews are gonna pick it up now, myself included.
Console playable, should have been a huge red flag. RTS is not for consoles. It's a horrible game, especially if you paid full price. Sooooo basic, horrible gameplay, basic b strategy at best.
I don't get the love this update is getting. People are saying it's a great historical title. Wtf. It's been disputed that vikings had horns on their helmets, but now everyone is cool with every faction having multiple sometimes HUGE horns on their helmets? Come on. Gameplay wise, does it have the amazing diplomacy of their previous "Historical" title Three Kingdoms? It does not. Does it have the RPG elements of TW:Warhammer? It does not. Does it have the challenge and hardcore mechanics of Attila? It does not. Does it have the amazing sieges of Rome 2? It does not. Out of all their previous games, this one adds nothing but removes tons. It's the classic CA trend of adding a mechanic, and removing 2. This is like a drunk mans version of no mans sky.
Dude, it takes 5 seconds on Google to confirm what was obvious to me, you don't know what the hell you're talking about with horned helmets in the region. There are carvings and statues of people with horned helmets from this era. Especially the Myncenaeans. Plus the Sea Peoples as depicted by the Egyptians.
Dude, Bronze Age warriors are not Vikings, and they did have horns on their helmets. We know this because we've *found the helmets* at dig sites, not to mention contemporary reliefs displaying them. Old Kingdom Pharaohs (not depicted in this game, way older) wore leopard/lion/bull tails like furries ffs. Intimidating animal motifs were common in this time period. There are actual inaccuracies in this game, for example the Assyrians invented cavalry about 4 centuries after Pharaoh takes place and it was shit for 100 years even then. Obviously a Total War game isn't going to be 100% accurate everywhere but going after the horned helmets is just plain ignorant of the Bronze Age.
They are trying to expand player base which is rather small and save bad product with free updates. You are portraying them as a generous company that is famous for giving stuff for free.
Spectacular game. The final emotional impact is way bigger than any specific issue with mechanics. I don’t think the combat is that bad, especially if you crank up the difficulty. Ammo and health scarcity really pumps the anxiety Problems aside, to me it is a must play.

While Troy as an archeology site exists the Homeric Troy as depicted in the illiad is still Myth and legend. There is no evidence at the archeology cite that supports it.

I played the beta. Did not care about the design, nor the wokeness (btw i dont understand). What killed the joy was the gameplay. The run/walk feature, bad implemented dodge. Bigger characters move sooooooooo slow that are sitting ducks to long range shots. And i almost sure a melee attack did more damage than a shotgun shot.
My list is similar but I'd put DS1 in S, BB and ER in A I'm about 2/3 through Lies of P, it's not bad but it's firmly at the bottom of the list for me.
As a marketing major, I could tell it was DOA when revealed. Marketing can be everything, and unfortunately for the developer, it really tanked anything they had going for it. Once the public narrative formed that was it. They need to go F2P.
The game is DEI in designs. The fake dyed hair, pronouns, etc is literally cringe. The game will die because people hate the designs. Can't make a good game if the designs of the heroes aren't liked.

Love your List …Bloodborne is the best because the familiarity and Unique aesthetic. The art style and the density of the game also heightens things but I totally understand your take but not the grade😂

dark souls 2 was my first souls game so i def have nostalgia for it but i would prob put it at the bottom but its def worth playing and still feels and plays like a souls game
